Thor I've had your latest album playing on loop ever since your last video announced it, your sound is so good!
Yeah, latest album really slaps
Any way to get a physical cd?
Hell yeah, keep it up, Thor.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 T.R.A.G / Hard Edge (depending on the region) for the PSX !
I swear Thor can make literally any game sound interesting. He could make a video about a game that’s just a guy farting on a bus and I’d still have the urge to try it out
Now I want Bus Fart Simulator.
That's Thor's next video
to be fair the guy almost convinced me to play balan wonderworld
Bus Farter sounds lit! When’s the drop?!
Desert bus thorhighheels vid when
holy shid the backgrounds look so good for a ps1 game. it's as if pre renders except were .fully 3d. Late ps1 releases were impressive.
I've always thought that this game was a fever dream I had when I was a child... thank you Thor for proving that this game exists!
This is one of my favorite PSX games along with Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2 and the Dino Crisis.
I replayed it last year on DuckStation, an amazing experience, even better than I hoped. It has some rough edges and the controls aren't very good, but the atmosphere, graphics, characters, plot and branching storylines make up for it.
For anyone wishing to play it, be careful with ammo, use several save slots/save states because some enemies respawn but your bullets don't and you can get stuck.
PS: I love how most of the games I named revolved around some sort of optical disk where some kind of precious data is stored. And they're often beautifully depicted with suiting colors and the mesmerizing rainbow effect real CDs have.
@@cloudycolacorp There's a ton of underrated classics on the PlayStation. I think a lot of people, even me, look back on this era as "clunky" but there's a lot of interesting titles on the console. I actually think that instead of remaking a game that reviewed well they should be remaking games that had a lot of potential, like this one.
Tank control platformers and action games are the bane of my existence. Tank controls worked fine for horror, not much else.
@@EmergencyChannel I've always loved the tank controls in Tomb Raider. It's different from typical platforming controls, but I really vibe w/ it. Makes you approach things more methodically.
I bought this game the day it came out when I was stationed in Japan. It tried to do so many things and succeeded at none of them. I love how stupid the plot was, and the voice acting made it so much worse. It was the best.
Thanks for bringing back some ancient memories.
In a world of retro rare games that everybody knows about. You actually bring up the one's no one brings up. This is meant as a complement.
Games confined to one location always gets me pumped. Usually means you’re in for good pacing and steadily upping the stakes.
Persona 3 my beloved
Oh god thanks for this one! This game has been stuck in the back of my mind ever since a cousin lent it too me.
I forgot the name and NEVER heard anyone talking about it, watching this vid felt like scratching an itch that I've had for years.
I replayed it on DuckStation last year, it's still a good game.
Man, those times when a villain could become all powerful and rule the world with a CD.
They'd need like a Netflix password to rule the world now.
Never heard of this game before, it definitely looks interesting, even if it's just for the way they constructed the graphics. My guess is that it's a "sphere" wrapping around the camera like a skybox with the real-time objects on top, a mixture of how the PSX RE games did it with how Scratches (it's an indie adventure game) for PC did it, conceptually simple but very clever. Also using a survival horror set of mechanics to build what's essentially a typical train heist movie plot is pretty unique.
If you are from the US, you probably saw it with another name, "Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn"
@@SimonSater nope, not the US, I'm from Argentina. Tho is not rare for games in here to get the same names as in the US.
That title doesn't ring any bell either however.
Trains in video games are just such a cozy setting, gonna have to smoke that one something fierce. :0
I'll take a willem orb
I lost my mind when I realized Japan Studio made quiet a few American action game games on the PS1 and PS2 with all the them being English only and with this train game being the only one to come out outside Japan. It is why the English dialogue is so insane, it was directed by Japanese and I Love it
I loved this game. We need more non-horror tank control games👍
check out god hand
@@jgn everyone knows god hand dude
Croc on the PS1?
Didnt know that
In Cold Blood
All We Had To Do Was Follow The Damn Train - The Game
My boy tried to pay with OFFICIAL WILLEM CURRENCY
Your style doesn't always appeal to me, but what I got to give you credit for is that you consistently find games I haven't heard of. So many use "hidden gems" or videos to talk about games that anyone who is a gamer would know.
Speaking of hidden gems... There's this really good PlayStation game not a lot of people have heard about. Resident Evil. It's really spooky.
Reminds me of Gamesack's "Let's make a CZcams show" video where they parody Metal Jesus Rock's 'Hidden Gems' videos.
I loved this game back in the day. It had oddly fragile discs though - the tiniest smudge or scratch and it would not play cutscenes properly.
I wanna play it again...
i've been enjoying your videos for months and never knew I was listening to your music the whole time youre mad talented
Long time watcher, now just wanna thank you for your videos.
Thank you for this! I had this game. I loved it
OK every video you make is a work of art. And when I'm not broke I'll buy that album you just made and a couple others 'cause it's all good
e: yes I actually listened to them
So, Resident Gear Solid on a train. I wish I'd found this game back during the PS1 era. Pretty sure I would've enjoyed it a lot.
Nice Crash Bandicoot Soundtrack 😜
If he doesn't want the Willemorb, I'll take it!
0:29 That evergrace 2 song took me by absolute surprise, i was listening to the ost yesterday, it made the image 10 funnier lmao
Thank you for the video!
Hey man, amazing job on Lunacid. I got the game and was listening to the soundtrack on youtube, when who should turn out to have made some of the best tracks in the game but the one and only ThorHighHeels. Judging by the music's 90's-japanese-soft jazz-lounge style and heavy synth choirs I'm inclined to believe it's you.
The weirdest thing about this game to me is that me and my friend found the Disc 1 for it in the middle of the road on our walk home from school. And this had to have been in 2010 at the earliest.
Probs my copy I few used to go out yhe window 😂
i agree with you Chess the Express is a rival to Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid.
Your whole channel is amazing
Low-key have no idea how I never heard of the first game!
Fkn love ur weekly uploqds keep up ❤
Loved your train vibe video, nice to get another
ok that RE 4 ellie and joel killed me fr
Damn, the graphics are pretty nice, it has a dreamcast vibe.
I audibly shouted “YEAAAAAAH” when I saw what the next game will be!
oh lol, haven't seen this game in a while. As a kid I bought anything that resembled Resident Evil and Chase The Express managed to lure me in somehow : D
3:20 Hahaha, his teleporting sound is the quake teleport sound effect.
I like how this is basically a sequel to your Train Games video :)
Never heard of this one. Would have been my thing back in't day
Man you blow me away 🤯💜
I actually own a original copy of this game. Being Brazilian and all that says a lot. I had a pirated copy when I was a kid, always thought this game was underrated, it's really good stuff. If you play it without any guide you can get like four different playthroughs the first four times you play the game, so the game takes like six hours to beat but you can get like 20 hours worth of gameplay out of it without having to look around very much for guides secrets etc.
The album IS really good btw, lovin that shit. Glad to see you’re releasing music, half of what draws me to your vids are your music
3:02 Stole Edea's curtains and Mandark's laugh. A man of who enjoys the finer things.
We know you'd never actually give the wilem orb away. It's the source of all your power after all
I remember only seeing this game advertised on the back of one of the Tenchu game's instruction manuals.
I'm glad I finally bought a cheap used copy and did a full play through on Normal difficulty and I got the true conclusion. I liked the game, shame it will never get a remake or remaster. Sony shut down the dev.
Waiting for this since the "trains in games" bideo
Bless
I love this channel keep up the good work thor
I played it back in the day and recall enjoying it.
Yay a Challenger reference!
Oh man can't wait for the SGF and game grumps playthrough
I was fondly remembering Overblood today whilst slogging through a 12 hour shift, memories of playing it as a child.
I get home and slap youtube on and notifications tell me Thors uploading again, yay.
Weird seeing it briefly pop up in this vid. Would be good to see you give it a bit more air time.
This game on medium respawned enemies it was rather annoying but I did enjoy playing it.
I forgot all about this one. It had flashes of the game every now and then, but forgot what it was called. One of the few games I rented from BlockBusters. I loved it at the time. Man I miss the psone days. If dithering was a woman I'd marry it.

but yeah, the video was great, love finding out about these randomass games that everyone seems to have largly missed
What're ya sellin' ?
*Willem Orb
Ahhh. I'll buy that at a high price !
Dang
There really are just games upon games of stuff I never heard of, huh?
We love to see it.
Love your editing wish I was as talented as you in editing lol I film edit on a broken Samsung that has a big circle asteroid crack on my screen lol.
I played PRODUCER 2021 last month and really enjoyed it a whole lot, so many tracks be slappin
All the
I won this game at a videogame magazine lottery, didn't play at first because I was a bit young and found it boring (only played GT2 around that time) but when I finally played it, it was pretty entertaining!
Thanks for the vid
Damn I loved this one. A chill commando weird fun romp.
This unlocked a core memory I didn’t know was there. I remember this on those PS1 demo discs and it stopped after you reached a plot point or ran out of time. I remember this and a sk8ing game with enemy POV
I demand more train game videos. Metro Exodus perhaps? You'd fuck with it hard.
you made that game up. this didn't exist until today
please have a retrospective review or "so ive been playing" of patapon, you gave love to one of my old fave (yakuza series) when it wasnt really booming yet, and now would love to see your take on another old fave of mine, PATAPON! since they just announced a spiritual successor (Ratatan). idk if you ever played it before but would still love to see your takes on it with a fresh set of eye balls lol. anyways always love your videos, and you got me into the whole Boku no Natsuyasumi series.
Edit: not to forget Legend of Dragoon!!!! the fact that you made 2 videos, one to kinda redeem yourself to hard fans of the cult game but i enjoyed your take at it.
Had sound muted for the first 30 seconds or so and legit thought you were doing a silent bit.
I first played this game around 15 years ago and basically found it enjoyable enough to beat. However I didn't know "Chase the Express" was another title for it.
I have never heard of this game before.
I am impressed by all the background details.
I remember this game. I still have the mag that had this as a feature. It was described as Seagal on a train.
i loved this game. still have my ps1 copy
Ngl i read the title as first, party game and was so excited for sony party in a train :p
I played the fuck out of this game when I was a kid, it felt so tense and against the clock
Why has CZcams betrayed me by not notifying me properly of a new Thor video 😢 few days late but worth the wait
It's a cool game. I wish we got a Chase the Expression 2 - Bullet Train Menace, one can dream right
It looks like the technique this game uses for most rooms is cubemaps; similar to skyboxes in most more recent games. It combines i think one big tessellated box combined with some real geometry mapped to the same cubemap set of textures for occlusion purposes.
A big problem with these sorts of techniques is that PS1 does not support subpixel positioning precision for its texture mapping, as the vertices get quantised to integer pixel coordinate before being sent to the GPU. So it's always going to look a little bad and warbly. You can't even pick the geometric resolution high enough to combat the affine rendering issue of PS1, since you will just make the warble more annoying at the vertex position level. You might think you would get better mileage if you were to manipulate texture UV to offset the error introduced by the vertex quantisation, but uhh the the UV resolution is in terms of integer texels, and since you can't really afford texture resolution of much more than one texel per pixel, you don't have the latitude to introduce any real correction.
I have to say your channel is my favourite gaming channel to watch in the bath
Have you tried the psvita tho? I just modded mine and it has a lot of strange japanese games, and other stuff that I've never seen before. Plus, katamari and gundam :)
I remember this game being called Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn. I really enjoyed it back in the day
0:39 i have that Pikachu plush, it is indeed quite old.
Wasn't expecting another video so soon, what a pleasant surprise. So did you see the new Sonic announcement yet?
I'd rather not get a video per month like before, unless if it's a goated game like Racing Lagoon all over again
I have to leave to go somewhere in 20 minutes so that’s just enough time to drop everything I’m doing to spend 15 minutes watching one of your videos.
Now I'm curious to see a video about Tsugunai, another of Sony's obscure first party games. This one for the PS2 (I think it was the first one they released for the PS2?)
Never even knew this existed. It apparently got released as “Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn” in US and EU. Why did we never hear about this game 🙀
in europeits called chase the express
I LOVED this game wow, so glad to see it discussed at all, no one seems to remember it.
Never seen background does that before, I thought it was 3D and I'm like no way can PS1 do 3D like that.
Picture my surprise when I realized that this video wasn't about party games at all, not even the first one Sony made!
Oh my! The Nazaré Tedesco meme.
I absolutely pissed at the Overblood callback
Well this is definitely a game 👍
Thanks for not burping in this one
I think the burps are nice
Nice
I was super confused thinking the first Party game, where is the Party game. Oh it's First-Party game lol
I was thinking "damn, they really knew how to party back then ig" 😂
This title made me think it was Sony's first "party game".
Knight of the Apocalypse dude looks like the nihilists from Big Lebowski lol
i couldnt catch the name of the game mentioned towards the end after dino crisis 2. trag? track? it looks interesting
trag!
What's the cat sfx of the money from?
