My parents moved to Lakewood Ranch in 2018 and love it. One huge plus of living 25 minutes from the ocean and inland is that they get the benefit of still being close to some of the most beautiful beaches but the risk of flood damage that far inland is pretty low even when a hurricane hits......and being under an hour from Tampa is a huge bonus if you want a change of scenery. The traffic can suck but Lakewood has everything you need from shopping to restaurants so you don't need to drive far.

Been in Lakewood Ranch for 24 years.had my house built here. Things have changed a lot use to be cow pasture across the road but still love it here . Coming from Atlanta traffic doesn't bother me at all.

Just beware when purchasing property here. Construction can be pretty shoddy. You are going to pay way too much for a Home Depot house. There is also no more season for snowbirds. Traffic is terrible all year around. Another thing in Lakewood Ranch is that our schools are packed to the gills.
