Reviews two 4K cameras and owns more. Uploads review in only HD resolution. 🙄😜
Like anyone could tell the difference, especially with CZcams compression. 4K is for acquisition and high resolution cinema, you don't need it for talking head content.

Currently working as a 1st AC with the FX9, absolutely love this as someone that primarily works with BMPCC and Canon Cinema Series, Especially pairing it with the Helios 44-2 and other vintage lenses

I'm glad that you answered a question that I was looking for, about the decision between Red Komodo and Sony FX6. But the main thing that is bothering me is that the FX6 has a "Sony Alpha" look, don't you feel that? The FX9 has a Venice vibe, and the S-Cinetone of the FX6 is not making me so certain about this decision. The Red Komodo feels more like a cinema texture. What do you think about that?
I saw your shots with the FX6 on the field and it was one of the videos that made me reconsider getting the FX6.
And do you think that the rolling shutter is somehow decent over the Red's global shutter?

Hey man! Thank you. Yes you are right It has a sony alpha look, but still the image from fx6 is impressive. I would not choose red Komodo over the fx6. But I didnt test the rolling shutter so I cant say anything on this point.
Komodo has a more filmic look for sure if you use it. But that comes at a big cost. To rig it up you'll be spending 12k+. I ended up selling mine

Thank you for this review , like I said , your one of the few people that color grade Sony footage to my taste. I do have a 2 questions:
1 . If you say that image quality is your priority , why choose FX9 over Ursa mini pro G2 ?
2 .If you where to shoot a feature length documentary and would you still chose the FX9 over the Ursa mini pro G2 ?
Ursa mini pro g2 with the Pictor zooms seem like a dream setup to me, my problem is that C300mkiii and FX9 seem to make more busyness sens. But something tell me that URSA would take my work to the next level where as with the Sony and the Canon I will constantly tell my self that the image could have looked better.
I am torn !!!
Thanks. G2 and fx9 have a great image quality, but Fx9 has everything I need, it has a full frame sensor and the autofocus.
to shoot a feature length documentary I would still choose the FX9 over g2 because of the autofocus.
I always tell myself that the image could have looked better as well but we should know this could not be about just a camera but many other things.

You are probably right , and like I said before the FX9 and C300 mkiii are probably the cameras to invest for my prodoction company in to make my life easier especially for a one man crew. and I have so much more to learn about color grading, and perfect my color grading skills , before saying that the 10 bit 422 S-Log2 is limiting ... but even tho I lack experience , in my defense I can say that I drool 🤤over most documentary footage I see shot on blackmagic cameras when they are graded nicely, and I cannot state the same about "most" of the FX9 footage that is online. I like you sony footage and when I saw your fx6 footage I immediately asked you if you where using Zeiss 35 1.4, and you answered 50 1.4 its because I recognized that cinematic look that zeiss emout lenses give . How are the to manualy focus with ???
I should probably buy the sony or the canon as my work horse camera , and use the money I make to buy an Ursa with my cine glass for my passion jobs, or higher paid gigs. that would be the smartest way to do it.
@@organismx If you are a one man crew, FX9 or c300 mkiii would be better. I love the image from URSA mini, but there was a footage on Vimeo which was shot on FX9, I stunned by that footage and decided to go with FX9. image quality wise, they are all good cameras. but with the autofocus, built in ND will make your life so much easier brother.
I shot the fx6 footage with 'Sony' Zeiss 50mm f1.4 ZA, plus with a very cheap little baby lens, Sony 35mm f1.8. you can see both of the lens on camera in this comparison video. if you already have canon lenses, c300 mkiii can be a wise choice. the dynamic range is slight better as well.

Do you think the richer midtone color response of FX9 is something that can be matched in post when grading FX6? Is there anything that escapes the differences that are strictly technical properties, such as the way the FX9 renders motion that makes it different from FX6? Lastly, do you have any thoughts on FX6 vs A7sIII image quality? Thanks!
I think yes it is possible to match them in post, but a bit more filmic feeling(can't explain exactly what it is though) is there on fx9. anyway they are very close. I don't have or use A7siii so can't say exactly about this camera but I prefer Fx6's.
@@RayKayofficial I see this more filmic quality of FX9. I think it has something to do with how it renders motion, I agree that it is one of those things that is hard to put a finger on .

How is that Tilta shoulder rig for the FX9 treating you? Does it balance perfectly on your shoulder? Is the shoulder pad soft enough for all day use?

Hi Chase! After almost an year of use, There’s nothing too bad on this shoulder rig. It balance perfectly on my shoulder yes, but I can’t say its soft enough for all day use, I could feel pain on my shoulder after a long use. But overall I like it! A nice look and very sturdy, plenty of mounting holes, wonderful d tap options and a great protection so Im not planning to switch to another one. It does it’s job! But if you use hdmi a lot, it could be uncomfortable because of the battery plate.

In terms of Image quality what would you choose: red komo or fx6?
I am used to work with the fs7 with canon lenses. I find the FS7 to heavy honestly and I want something better and ligther. So I thought the FX6 is ideal, because it has great AF and full-frame sensor. But... I really like the image of the Red Komodo but I doubt it is a very good decision for gun&gun, corporate or documentary. So I have to make a choice.
Hey Roland! If you are asking my personal opinion then I’d say just buy the fx6. Its no brainer if you used fs7 because you know how to handle slog footage. plus built in Nd and the autofocus and the full frame sensor will give you a big smile. If you are looking for a light weight, gun&gun, this is a GO

fx6 를 로닌s에 올릴때 렌즈가 가벼우면 괜찮은데..
렌즈가 무거워지면(예를들어 24-70GM..) 카메라 전체를 뒤로 보내야하니 뒤가 닿게 되더라구요
무게추를 카메라 뒤쪽에 다는 것이 해답일까요?
네 무게추를 활용하시는게 좋을것으로 보입니다. 무게추를 달수있는 플레이트를 하나 구입하시면 좋을것 같네요~
혹시 fx9에 마운트되어있는 렌즈는 뭔가요?

Hi Robert! Thanks a lot for your comment. It is reliable camera but only the chassis is made of magnesium alloy, the material of the surface is quite different, It is plasticky compared to FX3,FX9. but still it is my favorite:) super lightweight. Thanks again. I really appreciate what you said.
It does feel like plastic, even on the metal parts lol.😂 This is comming from a Nikon dslr and mirrorless user. Even FX3 and FX30 feel more solid. But thats not a big deal, since FX6's weight felt so balanced in hand.

looked for this review to confirm this after i watched to many videos online - just got fx9 footage and its amazing!!! i think its easy to see the better image quality and cinematic texture from fx9 - i hope to see aome review against the 6K pro - i think the footage is just better then the ursa and for sure its better then the 4K with the gen 5

Question: Is the image quality from the FX6 better than the BMPCC?
Yes it is better than bmpcc 4k.
@@RayKayofficial That's an interesting assertion. I have a BMPCC 6K and an A7Siii and would say just the opposite. That is, I wish the BMPCC had the autofocus system of the Sony... and, you know, it wasn't shaped like a football. The BM image is amazing though. I actually chose to sell a RED Dragon and keep the pocket 6K as it's much easier to transport and operate while still looking fantastic.

Yeah thats true! If I were them, I’d stick with a familiar system and lenses that already have. It seemed both of them are amazing cameras in terms of image quality😉

I don't think bmpcc 6k is superior than a7s iii. they are different, they are both great, but not superior, It's just a personal preference. I personally prefer bmpcc 6k image that the a7siii though. but the Fx6 is good enough and close to Fx9

Hello sir, thank you very much for the review. I watched your FX6 footage (and the other clip "Home") a few times carefully, and noticed the following:
1. slight green-tint in mid-tone
2. highlight roll-off is ever-so-slightly abrupt, not as smooth as I've seen from a Red.
So my question is, do you think these edges can be further polished with more time in post? I'm seriously considering buying the FX6 for its internal ND, AF and ease-on-gimbal, I'm just a bit concerned about getting the utmost film-like image out of it.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the comment, you've got a great eye! you don't have to worry about the green-tint in mid-tone, It's me not the camera, as I mentioned in the video I prefer green-tint image rather than magenta. but you should know that the image right out of the fx6 is a little bit greener than the fx9. I almost didn't do anything in post, just added a basic contrast and color balancing so highlight roll-off could be treated in post. of course we all know that the Red DSMC2 cameras would be better.

FX9 is in need of a mark ii, fixed all the annoying things, better processing for better autofocus and slow motion, and why not a Global Shutter sensor?

It is not the camera that makes a great picture....but the type of lenses you use. Keep that in mind.

FX6 forgot to design a 3.5mm audio input port. Remove the handle and install the stabilizer, it will not be able to record, hahahaha.
