Learning to rest on your back and float is a huge life saver!! Why they aren’t saying that? The rest position is on your back face out of water arms out. Do this when you’re tired it will SAVE your life!! Then you go to your side stroke or back stroke to conserve your energy! T

First thing you do in life guard training is you tread water for 30mins as a warm up. I grew up On an Island where we learn Ocean safety at a very young age. 2 inches of water is all it takes to drown. People don’t respect the water even a lake and it will show you you’re in another world fast l!!! Rip to the lost and bless their family

Just noting the amount of downing deaths of avid swimmers that occur on the south end where the generation pump is located. People being pulled under hundreds of feet unable to get air and die. The deaths are unexplained. Could the pump generating system at the south end that releases the water be responsible for the unusual high currents? The release happens around the same time Mar - Aug when most of deaths have occurred. Check out the drownings at Bartlett Lake also near the dam.

Hot coffee can burn, and deep lakes can drown people. Common sense is indeed lacking. If you can't swim, take appropriate precautions, until you learn. And if you can swim, know your limits. And leave the liquor at home.

Like stories of deep quarry holes in New Jersey. People who can't swim wading into deep water drop-offs. Lake Pleasant has many of these. People should take appropriate precautions if they are non-swimmers. But not try to impose fear and restrictions on those who do swim.

I love visiting lake pleasant and these instances are so very sad. It's so important to practice safety and if you're drinking you are so vulnerable! Don't get me wrong, I take a few beers to the lake myself. But so many call this lake cursed essentially but such a high volume of people visit so there are bound to be accidents.

An enormous natural body of water has debris and undercurrents among many other possible factors. This we all know along with the natural power of gravity, so what is the logic of not wearing something that will prevent us from losing our lives? We can't expect nature to act a certain way that is convenient for us, we must respect it and never assume anything. Parents have to teach their kids all of the dangers and young fit men need life jackets too.

Lake Pleasant Death? They should seriously rename that lake! Call it "Lake Haunt!" It reminds me of the lake in a Friday the 13th film, the one that Jason drowns in. Creepy! They should seriously rename the lake and also build a huge two-story skull 💀 sculpture on the island in the lake, with white cutouts all around it of the drowning victims. The skulls eyes glow up at night, and it sends out a shrieking ghoulish scream over the waters every hour!
