    You dont have to be a beginner to appreciate this. I found a lot of value in it. Its all the simple little elements that add up to create something interesting. You know its a good 8bar loop when you can listen to it on repeat and it takes a loooong time to tire of it and I feel like you did that here. Now I want to go make a bunch of 8 bar loops. Thanks for the inspiration!

      I'm glad you found it useful. Personally I find a lot of value and satisfaction in doing very simple stuff that when you add it together, sounds very powerful. Thanks so much for watching and for reaching out! Make some great synthwave and share it with me when you do 😊

    Did not get a chance to watch the whole vid but skimmed through to hear what you created and it sounds solid. Have been using some 80's sample kits from you recently and love the sound it gives. Look forward to making something that sounds this good with your sample kits. Have to re-download the sample kit though because only the percussion kits seem to be working for me. Great sound buddy!

    Loving these videos and your advice of producing Main Stacks as a form of practise. I have noticed a significant improvement in the quality of my production by following this method. I have a question for you, Would you advise starting an entirely new project for each Main Stack or using a "template" project based on a previous Main Stack which includes only the percussive elements like the kick, snare and hats already programmed? Leaving you with only having to decide on the key and adding the musical elements to the Main Stack like chords, arps, pads, lead etc?

    • @SynthwaveDojo
      @SynthwaveDojo  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Great that you've tried this technique and seen for yourself how advantageous it can be in developing your skills. I discovered this a long time ago and thought others could benefit from it as well.
      As for your question, absolutely you can have a pre-made pattern for your drums in your template since for synthwave kick on 1 & 3 and snare on 2 & 4 will work as a starting point 99% of the time. However, do experiment with spicing up your drums beyond the starting pattern.
      Hope this helps!

    Great stuff. Currently recreating this 8-bar loop in mulab. Although it has of course different stock sounds and effects, it works pretty well (using stock sounds and presets and a bit of socalabs wavetable synth). Your main stack videos are really the perfect method to get started!

    • @SynthwaveDojo

    In your opinion, what's the difference between 80's Italo and synthwave other than the era they came from?
    I suppose, italo is more geared toward vocals plus synths while synthwave is mostly synth sounds. Also, Italo has more romanticized feel to it.

    • @SynthwaveDojo
      @SynthwaveDojo  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Great question! To be really honest, I'm not an expert in Italo disco and don't consider myself an expert in synthwave either 😊. To me Italo was made for playing in the clubs and for dancing, while synthwave is definitely not for the club nor for dancing.
      Most italo had vocals while most synthwave doesn't. They both share certain elements and there certainly are synthwave artists with a bit of italo sound.

    • @remka2000
      @remka2000 Před 11 měsíci +1

      IMHO “italo disco” (which was often made by Germans 😊) is a type of eurodance that was created in the 80s and early 90s, with the somehow limited tools of the era. Synthwave is an idealized recent recreation, almost a caricature of that, made with modern tools. Musically there is a lot of overlap, especially with sampling… (for example Kavinsky / Kano : czcams.com/video/3uiEOM_9pDs/video.htmlsi=75-GU8onJGqwR3Gw )
      For ref/inspiration, I have an italo-ish playlist here : czcams.com/play/PLXL6PHbrbJUpUPb8o2TYuvPnt2WF5YSpw.html&si=NuvPsQKm1fNbzMgw
