    I would have loved to play more of the circuits with my new team, we are doing quite well in the championship but the technology shows when I ramp the difficulty up to where I normally play. You have to really fight for every place competing against the mid range cars and it's truly exhilarating when you get yourself in the points, it's a great game mode. Once my foot is better (8 weeks I have been told) I hope to maybe stream a few races as Team "Wortharace" goes from strength to strength. :)

    Finally an honest review, thanks Mack for always putting out a voice. I don't always agree, but that doesn't matter. This is a critical voice, and even though it is thumbed up, you also hinted what is important for the future. I think it's worth a buy too, but, indeed, if they do yearly releases they better polish every year and add good content every year. The custumisation of my team liveries etc.. has to go deeper then, VR has to be there etc..
    But for this year, indeed, it is worth it. They seem to have finally been listening though, that is very much a good sign I think.

  • @radiomanjk

    I am curious what type of VR do you expect to be in this game, head and eye tracking is already there, do you want it so that you drive a kart inside your house and it will be tracked by vr? I'm really curious about this, because I believe in most cases it only gives you head and eye tracking, it doesn't matter if you stand up or walk to the left or lift your arm, so what more VR do you want? I am serious about this question, because I still don't get the extra value of VR over head or eye trackers and when I ask I just don't get an answer, so I'm hoping I get an answer here. And you probably meant Max Verstappen when you mentioned Jos Verstappen along Lewis Hammilton @6:48

    • @somecallmetim42
      @somecallmetim42 Před 4 lety +1

      Playing race sims in VR feels very immersive for the first few minutes until you spin the car and then vomit from the motion sickness. It's even worse on undulating tracks like Brands Hatch or the Nurburgring where you're eyes tell you should be going light over a crest or pushed down in a dip but your body says it's sat still in a chair. VR is fine if you're flying slowly in Cesna but you'll need a sick bag if you want to do any acrobatics (maybe that's true realism !) Head tracking on the other hand works very well with the Codemasters F1 games and is great for air to air combat without the need for keeping paracetamol and a bucket close by. It's worth noting that none of F1 teams multi million dollar sim setups uses VR. Instead they have big wrap around screens and some use motion rigs. You're much better off spending your money on a big TV or even better triple screens than on a VR headset and a plastic bucket.

    • @radiomanjk
      @radiomanjk Před 4 lety

      @@somecallmetim42 Thanks for the reply, so it actually doesn't really work for this, unlike headtracking. I knew it was more intensive, but in a different way, but I can understand this, since you strapped your head into some sort of monitor you would actually feel like you're spinning around while on head tracking you would get the immersion, just not the motion sickness since you can turn away any time you like and realize it's not real.

      @@CurtisSmal not create a new game and instead update the current one and maybe just charge for the upgraded livery and whatever new season news there could be(like introducing DRS years ago or Mercedes DAS this year). And keep it that way until they hav e something that does justify creating new game from scratch.
      That means a new engine with improved physics, mechanics, graphics or any revolutionary feature.
      Doesnt matter how you want to put it, there no way to justify selling an updated version of a previous game for full price.

    The reason Codemasters won't implement VR is the same reason they won't spend 10 minutes to implement mouse support in the menu. Since there's 0% chance of the current consoles running this game at 90fps and one console doesn't even have VR, they're not going to add it.
    Maybe next gen if VR really takes off on Xbox and PS5 they might.

      Im not saying its literally the same game but, honestly... how much has it truly changed to justify making it its own game? All of the little details and any improvement done could have been an update to 2019.
      I know they will never do it but it would be better if they just stick to one game for a couple of years and update it(maybe make the livery/new season updates a paid DLC for a reasonable price) until they got something genuinely new that simply cannot be done in the current game and needs to be its own(either physics, graphics, in-game mechanics or just all of them because they got a new engine).

There is no official mod support, but people have been able to replace some assets to get the liveries and names up to date on PC. Unless you care about online racing being a year behind on those games is a great way to play them, an official calendar update is just not worth £45.

    So... im a pubg, call of duty, red dead gta guy. Growing up i always loved playing sports games and especially career mode games the more customizable the better. With that said. I've seen and heard about how deep the customizing is in f1 2020 and i was impressed. I wanted to buy it but i was worried it would be too time consuming and repetitive (i like to be able to simulate certain parts lol) so i installed f1 2019 off xbox gamepass to see if i would like it and if it could keep me interested... and i must say its dope. MY QUESTION IS...
    Is there really a ton more things on 2020 that isn't on 2019? Because before i invest more time in 2019 i figure just to buy F1 2020 and get going now lol...or is it pretty much the same?

    I haven't touched a code masters f1 game since I got VR. Still waiting for VR mode to be added.
    Project cars 2, ATS, ETS and elite dangerous. With the exception.of project cars 2 I would not have bought the other 3 games without the VR option.

    Those thrustmaster pedals are brutal on your feet. The fanatec ones with the load cell have made a huge difference for me. You can use shoes with those. I have foot problems from 30 years of drumming so I can relate.

    Cockpit games not having VR support will never be worth a buy in my eyes. The market not being big enough is not an excuse, not many people have triple monitor setups either, but I don't think anybody would agree that not having triple monitor support because only a few people have it would be acceptable. The game costs full price with only a fresh coat of paint each year, and they cheap out on this?

    Very much agree, I'm still on f1 2017 and though very tempting to get the 2020 because I really would like the new team management theme they added in, I am waiting for VR to be added. I think I could hold on up to 2022. If no VR in 2021 or 2022, I'll get the new one then. I hope they add VR support next year. Cheers Mack, hope you have a nice recovery and can get back at it.

    I recommend to most people interested in F1 to buy the game every second year or so. Usually there's enough new content and the cars change enough to justify it after that long, but F1 2020 seems almost essential for any fan who's fantasized about driving for or running their own team, plus split screen I welcome back with open arms. Don't know what Codies are gonna do next though, when all the car development has frozen for the next two seasons until the new regulations come in 2022. They better have a new game engine for next gen consoles or VR or some other killer new game mode to make up for the lack in real life evolution in the sport.

    Wow, I am super hyped for project cars 3, no tire wear, no pit stops. ::a bell is ringing::: I got out of sim racing because the new games sucked and the old one's weren't being supported anymore. Now I am wondering if I should have stayed out, if not for this game, PC2 and Nascar heat 4, I'd have not bought my new wheel. I do look forward to your roast video about it though.
