- Today we plow and push some wet heavy snow with the Kubota BX 23S and the Polaris 900 Crew. We got around 7 or 8 inches of the white stuff. Much less than other parts of Pa and New York

Your neighbors must love you! So generous of you Mike!
Saw yesterday, NY got 40 inches! I like snow, but hardly get any here in Hickory, NC. Thanks for letting us watch you plow!
@@EyesOnlyTeam86 yep, just a mention of snow and schools close, all bread and milk dissapear, and if it actually does snow 3 or 4 inches, every untrained idiot gets in their car for some reason and gets stuck. Every incline has a stuck car on it. It's so frustrating. I went to hschool in Iowa, got license in July. October it snowed, never saw the ground again till April. I learned to drive in snow there. The only trouble I have is not my 4 wheel drive Chevy, it's the idiot's that can't drive in snow! Why do they get in a car?
made me shiver when you ploughed over the yellow extension power lead from the house to the garage, be careful
Good morning everyone. 39º in KC now, rising into the 50s. Took the day off at the Stihl store and I’m heading to tree farm near Stover for the last time this year. Stay safe, be humble & kind and Have a day.
Good Morning Phil! Have a safe trip.
Good morning Phil! Have a day! Don’t have to worry much about snow down here in Mississippi! 👍😊🇺🇸
Have a good time down there in Stover on the tree farm!
I was surprised to see how fast you moved the snow w the side by side, pretty quick! You are a good neighbor Mike, a great guy! I see you really know your stuff, I wondered why you weren't using the big tractor w the warm cab, understand now. 3 big areas plowed, w all the camera work, editing etc, just gotta say thanks again. I am really looking forward to seeing the cherry in your office. Nothing you do or have is anyone's business and you most certainly could be private. I just think praise should be given when praise is deserved. I really enjoy your content, your professionalism and your family Mike, as I'm positive many thousands of others do too. My favorite channel. 🚜👍
Thanks for being nice to Mr Tom turkey. Love you plowing snow. Walking in Crunching snow my favorite.
Kubota L2501 with front end loader and box blade. Gets mine just fine, and my neighbors love me too. LOL
I Apsolutly Love The Drone Footage of The Snow Covered Woods and Hunting Cabin GOURGOUS!!
Sounded Like Some Stone Got Removed On Your Mums I know That Always Happens On Gravel Almost Unavoidable!! But I Just Hate Hearing It It Just means A Mess And Hand Raking That I'm Not A Real Fan Of My Least Favorite Thing To Do!!👍👊
I like the split screen with the birds eye and the view from behind.
What editing software do you use?
I Movie
Me too. Very nice effect - probably good for things like felling trees too! Or milling logs.
It does not matter which one works best. They are both a blast to run in the snow!! Enjoy Mike.
The drone footage was beautiful. Great video.
Have a productive day.
Good job Mike, enjoyed watching your snow plowing this morning from deep east Texas with our 31 degrees and not a bit of snow. Thanks for sharing with us, you did a great job. Fred 👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video. Great comparison/contrast. Great demonstrations. I am amazed how much snow the pusher box catches.
Either one Mike as long as it doesn't involve a Shovel . LOL
I agree Anything without shoveling.
Amen!
Oh boy, it's videos like these that make me happy to live in Florida! 🌞And if I had another tractor with a cab and heater, I'd definitely be in that one, your tough!
I plan on being a neighbor in a few years... I have had my allocation of snow already.
There are two kinds of people: Those who love the cold and snow AND those of us who are sane. Just kidding, but we just do not like the snow. Would give anything to be on a warm beach with a cold drink right now and all I had was a heavy frost when I went outside this morning. Just hate scraping the windshield. Anyone know the temps in Key West today???
@@markpashia7067 lol - my “go to” spot when I want to think “warm”.
Glad you were not cold Mike because I had chills just watching. That's why I'll stay in SC
That white winter wonderland is truly making me homesick for the good ol’ USofA! My wife was watching and just jonesing for some good deep snow to go skiing or play with dog and daughter in. Great plowing, Mike. Thanks for the rolling dogs, Melissa. HAVE A DAY!
I'm with Dave. You do an excellent job editing your videos. Great job.
That is very kind of you to do the neighbors drive and your mom's!
Thanks for sharing. The drone view of the cabin and and the trees is beautiful
@15:24 Helpful? Yes, I learned that I don't want to move to anywhere with so much snow that you need multiple pieces of equipment to deal with it. :)
😂
We call that kind of snow “Sierra Cement”, here in Northern California.i think the big Kabota with a heater would be my pick. Have a day!
I didn't think California got snow or ice. I think I would have used the big tractor also. I'm in NC.
@@keithburch5506 Anywhere in CA that is above 4,000’ can, and will, get snow. I am 60 mi E of San Diego and 30 mi N of Mexico, at 4280’, and we get snow. It brings up the citiots that cut fences, chase livestock, and generally trash up the environment.
Hope everyone had a great day. Glad it's the weekend! Woo Hoo.
Glad you have snow. Beautiful country you live in.
The wreaths on the new building look fantastic against the white snow. Nice touch.
Good to see you feeling better Mike, and back to your natural habitat.❄❄🚜🚜
Great advice, nice to give people options.
Great video of the snow you received. Stay warm and have a day.
Good video fella. Lots of info and superior demonstrations. Thank you for sharing.
Here in South Dakota I am equipped with a truck with a plow, a tractor with loader, and a side by side with a blade. We have a saying here " if ya don't like the weather wait 5minuets and it will change". It will be 47 degrees on Sunday for a high, and on Christmas Day a high of 17 degrees. Keep up the good work Mike love it. Good morning Hunter.
Just awesome scenery!
What you’ve got worked real good for the snow. Several years ago I got the chance to buy a 7’ HD tilt and angle blade at an excellent price. That has worked so good for me. I also put a special cylinder in place of my top link controlled by a valve. It works very well. It works somewhat like a grader blade. Anyway we enjoyed the video. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
Thanks for the snow report.
Nice job, Mike. Spot on analysis!
The drone shots are beautiful. Nice touch.
Another great video with great scenery. Mike you do a great editing job also. Here around central OH. we ended up with 3-4 inches of the very wet and heavy stuff. Have a day.
Never mind the fact that we barely get 1 or 2 "plowable" snow events per year anymore, but I have a blower, a blade and a front end loader. However, I don't think any of those will work as it looks as if what I truly need now is a snow pusher. Wish we could see a few December snows like this once in a while here in NE Indiana.
I think I used my snow blower once in the last 3 years. About the time I got rid of it Fort Wayne would get a blizzard!
@@davidbehnke4417 Same way I feel. I sold my plow truck two years ago and haven't missed it yet. I keep thinking one of these years it will haunt me most likely. I live in NE Allen County and just miss every snow it seems!
On my 95 hp massey 5455 ,cab-4x4, first I use the Lucknow 7ft 3 point hitch snow blower. Then on the front is a 10 ft snow pusher to get it close and clean.
Great job looking great thank you love your videos
I don’t have the need for either in Mississippi. But I really enjoyed the drone footage. And you always edit it very well.
I was thinking same thing, his editing is great.
12" here in Wilcox, Pa, luckily it was light and fluffy. 2020 Polaris Ranger Northstar with heated cab made short work of clearing it.
What’s better than watching snow being pushed by someone other than yourself.? Have a great day.
Loved the Video Mike excellent job all the way around. A+
Displaced Yinzer who enjoys the way you speak. Gives me a little taste of home. What's fun is when my wife, who grew up in the South, hears a few words from a stranger and will instantly ask where they are from. The best part is that they are no longer a stranger at that point. Yinz have a great Christmas, the most magical time of the year !!!
Would love to have a tractor with blade or blower. Wife got me a 14" snow thrower. It's red and black with a metal edge. I don't care what she calls it, its still just a plastic shovel! You all have a day, and Happy Holidays and please be safe! Until the next video take care.
Nice snow Morgans looks cool its a winter wonderland and its perfect when Santa's coming soon. Thanks for sharing
3/4 ton pick up with an 8' Boss plow. Only way to go! I've used just about everything over the last 20 yrs. I'll take a heated truck w/ radio any day!
Relatives in Rhode Island have said the same, wet and heavy. Makes for some pretty pictures though. Thanks again for the video.
Mike, if we got.that much snow, Charleston would be completely shut down. In 1989, Hurricane Hugo hit here. On Dec 21st, we got.2.days of snow, around 16.inches. Folly Beach had 12 inches on the beach at the high tide line . People.at Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island were calling the talk radio stations wanting to know where the snow plows were!! Christmas day we.still had 1 inch of ice and 3 inches of snow on top of ice. The whole area was still shutdown about halfway to Columbia SC til 2 days after Christmas. We are Definitely not equipped for snow. In January 2, 2018 we got hit again with ice first, then about 4 inches of snow. Same deal, utter gridlock for about 3 days. Keep it up there. Most people.down here can't drive on dry roads in the summer, much less snow and ice. Stay safe and warm and keep the videos coming!!!
Great opening shots, you are getting very good with the drone footage and the split screen was great too, well done Mike and thank you
Morning to the Morgan's
That is good snow cream snow!!!
The drone footage is absolutely amazing!!
I live in North West NJ and I use a snowblower for our property. I don’t have as much property to clear as you but I just prefer to disperse the snow rather than to have big piles. I’d definitely have a blast using all the equipment you have though. Be safe and Happy Holidays
I love my bx it's the perfect tool for all seasons
Thank God I live in Tennessee don't have to deal with no snow looks like you got it under control Mike keep up the good work keep the videos coming
Ariens 32" Snow Blower does it for me. One pass for all walkways, and one pass up/down the driveway, and we are good to go. Self propelled, heated handles and made in the USA!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 That thing saved my wife's back and our marriage!🤠
Golden Retrievers and snow. Almost like the circus is in town!
lol 😂 you bet! Mine (Eli) LOVES it.
Great pictures
Hey Mike very glade you guys got all that snow we only got about 2 to 3 inches my sister lives in New Jersey they got at least a foot and a half. Joe H. Toledo, Ohio Hi Melissa
wow you guys got some snow New York got hit hard we lucked out in New Brunswick Halifax Nova Scotia got 22cm around 8 inches good job plowing both machines does a good job thanks take care
Liked the wild turkey, my favorite hunting. She was diffently having a hard time in that snow. Curious why she was alone. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸
& wasn’t she limping?
Yeah, seems like she was. A little kee kee call would bring her right to ya.
I loved the drone video!!! The woods with the snow was nice.
We have the Kubota hydro plow. Works good. Downside is you need to take off the loader. Agreed with tires slipping, going to happen unless you run chains. Gotta love that hydro whine lol
We got about 5" here in Syracuse but it was colder so it was easier to move with the snow blower.
We got 2feet of snow here. I’m glad for my snowblower on a BX 1860. Works great.
Great video. I can’t wait to use my plow with my new pvc pipe add on to see how it does on my gravel driveway
0:50 snow dusted Western PA with a subtle red boarder could be the Morgan 2021 Christmas card.
Nice comparison job Mike. And to echo the chorus, great cinematography!!
My crowded neighborhood has little place to pile snow so I have a 62" blower on the back of my Mahindra 2645 with a cab. Just worked on it to day to adjust the seat so I sit up a little higher.
Funny how when this thing crawls up to the house, how many friends i get, but that's okay.
I'd be using the cab tractor all the time, also I have a utv with full cab and boss v plow love it.
Agreed. I plow with an enclosed Gator with the factory straight blade with hydraulics. Nothing like plowing with a UTV. Much more nimble than a pickup or tractor.
It’s beautiful but I’m glad it’s on you and not me! We have a very heavy frost......no need to shovel. Good job plowing and video.
That's the perfect kind of snow to make a snowman with. Rolls right up. The weight of the backhoe on that Kubota gives it the kind of traction that is needed to push snow. I have always been amazed by how well a backhoe loader can move snow. It is because of the counterweight of the backhoe. Even though the pusher box is not technically a plow, it turns into one on a long driveway because only so much snow will stay in front of it. The rest spills over the sides, both sides.
Love that little pusher on the Kubota, but the side by side looks like more fun. I live in New England and have tried a full size truck, a jeep, a little truck, little tractor, big walk behind blower, and compact tractor for snow. My go to now and for the last 13 years has been by 30HP compact tractor with a hydro tilt blade in place of the bucket on the loader, with a 3 pt woods snowblower on the back. Most of the time I can plow or push snow where I want, stack it high with the loader plow, and blow off the windrows if they get to high or I want to move a lot further out. This last storm dumped 3' on us pretty fast, so I spent most of the time blowing backwards to move it vs plowing, but that is rare. I like v bar chains on the rears, even with 4WD, and I bolted grab loops on my loader to hold a shovel on the loader arms. I never leave without a tow rope or chain under the seat. I have a poor man's cab, (helmet and snowsuit) but it works and my visibility is max. I run an extra set of LED work lights front and rear for dark and so far I am really happy with this set up. I might go for a cab if I can find one with good 360 visibility.
I really appreciate your videos Mike, they are super informative and I like 'tractor discussion', not always supper table talk appropriate for everyone. But nice to be always welcome on your channel. Stay warm!
I have plowed snow for almost 50 years since 71 we use six trucks with boss V plows four loaders three skid loader‘s with 12 foot pushers a Volvo with 14 foot pusher two salt trucks at yard another loader at the yard for loading salt
We use approximately 600 tons of salt a winter
If you use a rear blade for snow on gravel turn it backwards so when you’re going forward The curve is backwards then angle it and it will take the snow off the top and not remove any gravel
Like the advice on using the rear blade.
I dislike snow, but when you show it from the drone it’s absolutely beautiful. I still dislike it though. Well done! 😊👍
Snow plowing was my favorite pastime living in Maine grew up in the central part and my first truck 87 GMC 4x4 bought it at auction with a 8 foot Fisher plow now living in south Carolina sense 91 don't get snow here if we do get a inch oh lordy this town is crippled yuppers so thank you Mike for this video lots of memories 💗 God bless y'all Merry Christmas
From many years with various plow vehicles, sizing the plow or bucket to the weight and horsepower of the vehicle is most important. While i always like the tires completely behind the blade when its fully angled, too much bigger is too hard to push wet heavy snow. Great vid. I would love a tractor like that. The backhoe adds a lot of weight for traction.
Good morning from NC! Just in from 6-mile walk with wife and her friend. Just above freezing here. Pretty day out.
I was surprised by several things - that you hadn’t already set up your attachments the night before and left everything in the shed, that the trucks weren’t in the big building, and if the commenter was right that he saw it, that the power cord hadn’t been pulled off the drive. All that said, it’s a great video! Beautiful drone shot of the forest - that pine grove in particular was awesome. Great Picture in Picture too. Think about that for tree felling and log milling. I concur with your conclusions about when one or the other tool is better, and with you and others that I’d be in the cab if it was much colder! 😄 Have a good one y’all.
I added some ski tips to my ATV plow on the bottom of the shoes. Helps it slide over the gravel better.
One things for sure you got multiple was of plowing your snow!, I just leave the bucket on the bobcat cause on the hilly part I usually sprinkle a little sand on the drive for traction!. Its beginning to look a lot like christmas!. You guys have good day!
I use my Polaris 4x4 with the a winch operated plow on my 1/2 mile gravel drive. Fast as heck, and works great. I angle the blade to push snow to the sides.
Drone footage is the BOMB...... also a great way to recover shot deer.
I absolutely agree, he has been knocking it out of the park with the drone shots
I think a deer might be a little bit too heavy for the drone to pick up. Just saying.
@@mikewatson4644 lol.
You certainly live in a beautiful area. My wife was just commenting yesterday about how she wished we lived in an area with seasons. Here on the Central CA Coast, we are in the middle of a drought. It hasn't rained for a long time. It's sunny most days, but the hills are all brown.
Either machine is much better than a shovel!
Great video Mike 🇺🇲
I would have been in the cab of the mx5400 if it were an option for me. Stay well, stay safe and yall HAVE A DAY
All that snow looked like icing sugar Mike but you still did a good job 👍 pushing/ploughing the roads around you though and at least your dogs 🐕 had some fun in the snow too.
It is nice that you demonstrate the pusher box and the plow. Your mention of using a snowblower is good. You certainly have to justify use of the selection of snow removal equipment. We live an Northern Vermont and I usually use the bucket scoop on my John Deere 2305. We have several snow shovels my family and I use to clear snow away from the house and walkways. Speaking of Northern Vermont, we received zero snow, while the major snowstorm that hit the Northeast region that dropped anywhere from 2.5 inches to 42 inches of snow.We we were spared the massive snowfall.
Nice job plowing. I have a Massey Ferguson subcompact. It's alright, but doesn't have a front end quick connect feature. Stuck with the bucket. You have a fantastic channel. Glad you are taking advantage of the nice property you have and doing the things you love to do.
Should have told that turkey 🦃 “I have a nice warm oven for ya!” 😂
Enjoy your snow. We are looking at a possible brownish Christmas here in Northern North Dakota. Have w good weekend. Tim and Peggy Browre, Larimore ND.
Gotta love that hydro static transmission
I like the glasses on top of the Wolf Ridge hat with the 3M head set. And we thought only Melissa had a sense of fashion, Maybe we can get a winter wonderland trail ride before it all melts into our typical Pennsylvania gray muck. I did like the drone shots of the woods. Your a good son clearing Mother Morgan's driveway. I don't think she is going any where in the snow and pandemic but you have to keep access for emergency vehicles. Thanks and take care all
If I had several ways to plow id be right out there plowing too.
Looks like fun.
Not that we get a lot of snow here on the southern edge of The Ozark Plateau , but what works for me is Rusty . Rusty is a 1982 model 317 John Deere yard tractor with a 48" power up/down blade on the front and a set of chains on the back wheels . I name my motorcycles too ... but not my chain saws .
The hydraulic plow blade on the front of the 5400 would be a great combination to demonstrate.
picture in picture....wow getting fancy
Looks like that wild turkey at the beginning of the video had something wrong with it's left foot. It was walking with a limp. We used a Kubota side by side with a plow blade to clear out my driveway here.
Mike, I have the rear snow blower on my BX23S. The blower on the rear and the loader in front works well for me. Just another option for folks to consider.
I bought a snow plow system for my CanAm Outlander Max, and that plow was used to clear my driveway only once,.. since then it's been 'safe & sound' tucked away in my garage.
I have been using my Kioti CK20S for all snow clearing ever since, so there's my choice. ( now having a Cab on my tractor is a definite Plus! :)
