It is with great pleasure that we introduce our distinguished guest presenter, Dr. John Paul Shen, an Assistant Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas. Dr. Shen will share his valuable insights and expertise with us, focusing on the following topics:
    -Important molecular differences between appendiceal and colon cancer and why testing for specific mutations is important;
    -New recently published clinical trial data highlighting that some colon cancer chemotherapy is of questionable efficacy for specific types of appendiceal cancer;
    -New data showing the activity of the drug paclitaxel and information about a new clinical trial expected to open in late 2023.
    -Your questions about appendiceal tumor mutations and how these mutations influence tumor behavior.

    I was treated with CRS/HIPEC at Holden Comprehensive in Iowa City.
    Low-grade with”scatterings” of cytologic atypia.
    My PCI was 26, and 0 at the close of the operation.
    NED 3 months later. I’m hoping for the best. 🧡

    I have a question for the doctor, My appendix ruptured and the doctors. Just put a drain in about ten days later to clean it out. They never operated yet, they were just draining all the buildup. I got operated on three months later september eighteenth that just passed. They sent that appendix off for testing and it came back with goblet's cell carcinoma. And then a month later they went and did anothey're dry and took out some tissues and some Lymph nodes. And now they want me to do chemotherapy. They say the cancer is stage two type three. Now I'm i'm dumb on this topic. But since they cleaned up all the tissue and lymph nodes and there was nothing there. But they found traces of cancer in the lymph node connectors what happens now? Do I have to do chemo?
