Advances in Genomics & Immunology to Classify and Treat Appendiceal Cancer with Dr. Michael Foote

On March 28th, 7-8 pm ET, we were pleased to feature Dr. Michael Foote, a Medical Oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center @mskcc, who talked to us about the recent immunotherapy revolution that has created considerable excitement for treatments that boost the immune system to fight cancer and avoid chemotherapy-related side effects.
We discussed:
-The basic principles of immunotherapy effectiveness in solid tumors, with particular attention to genetic/molecular features that may predict if patients will do well with immunotherapy.
-A new genetic classification system for appendix cancer and will integrate our discussion to assess the promise versus risks of immunotherapy in appendiceal tumors.
