    I've been the proud owner of an '11 ES, the refreshed 5th gen.
    I actually prefer the 5th gen's looks more than the 6th gen.
    My ES has about 140k miles, still runs amazing. I recently dripped 5k for some replacement parts, serpentine belt, spark plugs, new suspension components and 4 michelin pilot sport all season tires.
    I fell in love with my car, all over again after the maintenance.
    I still have to replace engine mounts and all 4 struts.
    Then it's gonna ride even better.

      Something is odd about how people will state the significant amount of money they put into a Lexus but gloss over it like it was no big deal. Yeah, if the same thing was done to a lesser valued brand, then the quality of that brand would be in question. Don't get me started on the Lexus 460 and I love that car. But the curious level of denial people have when they state so many things they fixed on it and then conclude with 'that's all' and 'it's a great car' is mind-boggling...lol.

    • @Ish7200
      @Ish7200 Před 8 měsíci

      @@sewj8046 There’s a difference in fixing things that are actually broken and preventative maintenance. You gotta take care of any car you drive if you expect it to last you a long time. Nissans, in my opinion, are better than what people credit them to be but they’re mostly driven by people who don’t even want to take the time out of their day to change the fucking engine oil. Lexus is a really nice brand, across the board. Of course it’s going to cost more to run than your average car.

    You're right about AWD. Personally I don't think you anyone needs it unless they drive like mad in the winter. My 320k mile Celica has been doing just fine in up here in the north for a decade+ now. The only repair I have had to do on my Lexus RX300 for two years now was the prop shaft/drive shaft which started to vibrate. That was $450 parts and labor and I didn't use OEM. Definitely an expense that I could have avoided if I had the FWD version. All in all, good presentation.

    Good video. I agree with your points. I got into a car accident which totaled my 2017 ES350 and just got a '21. I find the 8 speed a little jerky compared to the 6 which was increadibly smooth. Also the '21 feels bigger and softer in it's ride. I liked the '17 dash a bit better as well. Overall I don't think you can go wrong with any well cared for ES but if you have a 6th gen that you really like I don't see any reason to get the 7th.

    1. What’s your thoughts on the 2013 - 2015?
    2. If buying one with over 75K Mileage what should I tackle or look into immediately mechanically?

    • @MJ100k
      @MJ100k  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Thanks 👍
      The 2013-2015 ES is the same generation as the 2016-2018. I just liked the 2016-2018 because, to me, the grill looks better without that bar going across the front.
      The 2013-2015 has the same engine and transmission it just looks slightly different so it’s the same great car.
      As far as looking into things mechanically:
      I recommend doing two things before purchasing any used car.
      1- Before you even go to the car lot. Look at the carfax. Make sure the title is clean. Find one with a good maintenance record. You can do this for free on most cars. I show you how exactly in this video.
      Master Mechanic shares 3 NEW secrets for picking a GREAT used car !

      How to buy the BEST used Lexus ES350. Shop SMART !
      czcams.com/video/N_Ba-OtMJp4/video.html
      So just because it’s a Lexus ES 350 doesn’t mean it’s been maintained.
      Shop for the car AND shop for the best previous owner.
      2- Get the car checked out by an actual mechanic before you buy it. In NY I would have him pay close attention to excessive rust. Older cars will have some rust usually, but excessive rust should be avoided. Also the mechanic can look for that leak from the timing cover I mentioned in the video. The mechanics inspection will revel anything you should take care of after purchase.
      Also at around 75k-100k. If there are any fluid flushed they haven’t done on the car fax… do those. Ex- transmission flush, coolant flush, brake fluid flush etc. and around 100k it’s also time to change the spark plugs…. Even if you don’t get it done at the dealer … always Use only factory fluids and parts. Full synthetic oil, same brand every time. I prefer Mobile one high mileage full synthetic with a factory filter from the dealership parts dept (every 5,000 miles)
      Hope that helps ! 👍💯

      I used to like installing that kinda stuff when I was younger. But now I don’t. Aftermarket accessories are the leading cause of parasitic current draw. Also, installing an amplifier can create a lagging power system. I know you can put in a capacitor, but still… I don’t wanna risk the alternator to working too hard. Also, on many cars the audio head unit is a module on the can bus network. I don’t wanna deal with network codes and electrical issues. 🤷‍♂️ In older cars, you can get away with more stuff, but newer cars electrical systems are more complicated and I don’t wanna mess them up with aftermarket stuff lol

They can develop problems from just sitting around or just going on very short trips. However, Lexus certified is a high bar inspection usually. If I were you I’d go over the car fax maintenance records and dealership maintenance records to make sure it’s been serviced. Also read over the Lexus warranty to see how long it will cover the car. Ie hopefully coverage for as long as it takes to to pay off the car note. It’s a close call… but it never hurts to have a second set of eyes look at the car before you spend so much money on it 👍

    Well, it's dual injection system both port & direct, anyway the best thing u can do to make ur lexus drive & run like a clock forever is to do the following, 1- install a mechanical filtration oil catch can, 2- add injectors cleaner every 5000 km since Toyota & lexus has an issue with their low-pressure port injectors can clog easily. 3- change the radiator cap every 2 years, 4- and the most important thing to do to any car is changing the engine oil every 3000 km and change the transmission oil every 50000 km. and the brakes fluid every year regardless of the mileage. Doing all these thing make ur car run like a clock for million years with no issue.

      A million years ?!? A million miles maybe… A million years with no issue isn’t going to happen. First - a transmission IMO is basically a wear item. It will wear out eventually. Also, time… time is harder on a vehicle than miles. The thermal cycling of plastic and rubber parts will eventually take their toll. Valve seals… hoses… radiator etc Electronics also begin to have issues after long periods of time. And let’s not talk about Rust ! Rust also becomes a problem after long periods of time. Nothing last forever 🤷‍♂️😬

    Im looking to buy a 2019es 350 with 62,000 miles for $26000.base model
    Is that still low enough miles to risk a 5 year loan?

      Hmmm, So about a 500$ a month note plus insurance …. And I’m guessing it’s out of warranty. Seems a little risky for any car. Especially with the economy being pretty bad RN 🤷‍♂️ It’s not that I don’t trust the car…. But what if you were to lose your source of income in the next 5 years ? It’s up to you my friend. If I were you I’d get something much less expensive right now. But whatever you get make sure to do your research, and get it looked at by a mechanic before you buy it. Also, Screen the cars Carfax. Watch this video below I made while looking at two Lexus ES Carfax reports online. One was great and one was terrible. 👇

      Also, looks like there is a recall on the fuel pump for the 2019 - so make sure to look into that. See if your vin is affected and if so take it to a dealer and have them fix it if they haven’t already.

    Is 2017 Buick Lacrosse V6 a reliable car?

    • @MJ100k
      @MJ100k  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It’s pretty good. I like it. I would get the regular front wheel drive and not the all wheel drive. I don’t think awd is necessary on this vehicle.
      The 3.6 liter had some timing chain issues in earlier years of GM cars… but by 2017 the issue had been addressed.
      Like all used cars you have to make sure the previous owner took care of it. Check out this video for tips on how to screen the previous owner. That’s key in picking out used cars.

      There’s not much difference between Toyotas built in the US vs Japan. At Toyota they have Japanese managers overseeing things in the US and other countries. This helps to keep the corporate culture and quality uniform.
      Examples.
      My Camry was made in Kentucky and now has 275,000 miles on the original engine and transmission.
      The Tacoma was built in the US until 2023 but now it’s built in Mexico.
      The Tundras are all made in the US and at least one of them made it to a million miles.
      Here’s a quote from pressroomToyota.com
      The Tundra was the first-ever full-size pickup truck built by a Japanese automaker in North America. Production began in May 1999 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI), before moving to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) plant in San Antonio in 2008. It’s still assembled there today and remains the only full-size pickup truck made in Texas.

    The Lexus ES 350 is the same as the Toyota Avalon not the Camry

    • @MJ100k
      @MJ100k  Před 6 měsíci

      I mentioned that the ES rides on the Avalon platform (body) which is why the wheel base in the ES is a few inches longer than the Camry. However the Camry v6 and the Lexus ES share many parts and have a very similar FWD powertrain (engine and transmission).
