Love your channel. My favorite in this genre/subject. Your background and lighting are perfect and I tend to agree with almost everything you say so how can I not give you a like and comment!
Well shoot! Thanks Smash! Seriously appreciate the feedback
Reminder, the Haunted House has a STEM angle as well. The ride feature uses a Fly Wheel in the back.
Reminder, so do lots of other Lego sets LOL
@@studebricker2845 Yes many LEGO sets have…wheels. Don’t equate the Saturn V or the Lunar Lander with actual implementation of engineering.
The only reason I bring up the STEM angle is that I think the marketing around this set has not been great.
I do always forget that! Thanks Jwill
@@jwillsher80 Perhaps you just started collecting, but Lego has made sets with advanced features like flywheels for decades.
@@studebricker2845 Yes, this is not the only set to ever include mechanical features. That said, I understand it is not a huge plus in regards to resale value.
However, at the same time, most consumers don’t really know about the mechanical functions; initial impressions of it are that this is a just an expensive LEGO building with a Halloween theme.
The botanical sets make fantastic presents! More versatile than any other line I’ve experienced AND the best introduction to Lego for older family members/friends. Bought the succulents for my grandma and we built them together! She had always bought her grandkids sets but never built one herself! They make S tier date activities in general. Buy her(or him) a botanical set, then grab a blanket, some snacks, and a solid tray to build on and take them outside on the grass when it’s nice and sunny to build together. Cant recommend these sets enough
I love this so much!
There is a sitcom tower modular MOC out there that combines the Friends Apartment and Central Perk.
I did see this! It’s an incredible MOC
Soooo looong no content from you. Great to have you back 😃
I’m back!!!! 💪💪
Always a good day when Jake drops a video!
Well that’s high praise thanks TFF!!
Channel is growing tremendously!! Keep up the great content brother!!👍💯✌️
Thx BBL!!!
The Golden Lloyd figure from the Ultra Dragon at 22:42 is indeed exclusive and one of the most unique Lloyd figures ever made. I expect the Ninjago set overall to do will for investing but that Lloyd minifig specially will do PHENOMENALLY as I highly doubt Lego will ever make a Lloyd fig like that again and it's only available in such in an expensive set.
in what set is that golden loyd figure?? have a good one and thanks
@@Jorit19the golden dragon in this video
Thx Obi for that! I appreciate the insight
Great video! We need more JakesBricks content!
Ha I definitely need to post more! Appreciate the support
Jake, I agree with many if not all of your assessments here, and it really seems like investors should be passing on 90%+ of what is retiring this year, which is mind boggling. Reading between the lines, it seems like a lot of knowledgeable and serious investors are taking a noticeable pause right now. I am worried that there are so many casual investors that have rushed into the space during the Covid era and a lot of the demand for these sets is being driven by investors rather than end-user folks that sincerely want to have, open and/or build these sets. If demand suddenly diminishes or dries up there will be a glut of unwanted retired sets on the market that no one wants anymore. So everyone should be careful and do your homework. Don't buy at MSRP!
Agree completely with this. Lego was such a huge beneficiary of COVID cash plus stay at home dynamics, and the Lego Group has been absolutely pumping out the sets to take advantage of this. They have been making hay, but the sun is starting to shine much less brightly. There is SO much Lego out there now. Pretty high conviction that this will turn out to be the worst time to buy sets for resale in the past 10 years.
I 100% agree! LEGO investing is certainly not as easy as it was 5 years ago but I think their is still money to be made. Many will try and many will fail. Excited to go for the ride!
Welcome back my friend love your content
Thanks Tony!!
Great video!
Totally agree with your T-Rex Breakout assessment.
Thx Juan Pablo!
I picked up a Ford Mustang for $40 and sold it for $120 the next day. One of my fastest flips ever!
Booooom 💪💪
Question: can someone explain the overall resell market “requirements”. Like where do you sell/buy stuff, do you need to resell sets unopened sealed in the box new or does it matter if you built it, what should you know to determine the investment ability on a set, etc.
Start with my LEGO investing for beginners series that might help 💪
Great video & analysis. Medieval Blacksmith & Winnie The Pooh sets are retiring end of 2023 and are great sets for investing and collecting,
Yes I missed both those! Both sets are great!
Love your videos! How do you get info on what sets are retiring?
Rumors and innuendo LOL
Hahaha innuendo. There are several reputable sites but this info comes from LEGO.com itself
@@JakesBricks Somebody has to bust your chops every now and then....
@@studebricker2845 10000% 😉
Dagobah is so overhorded in Europe that its rather long term investment 2-4 years. Its like central perk 😂 I think other markets are similar. Thanks for your tips. I'm curious how this "last chance to buy" affect Lego investment markets. It's the first time ever Lego made such a huge confirmation about retirement sets. Looking forward for other news... 👍
Agreed! This is our larger list ever which shows me that stuff isn’t selling well. We will see what happens
Glad I found your video, it's unfortunate that the Lego site in the US only showcases a third of what's actually retiring. And I have looked at the site a ton and hadn't seen grave digger! That was a fave growing up 😊
Ya the UK and Germany sites have more sets listed. Not sure why US list is so limited.
Awesome video as always Jake. Keep it up dude.
Thanks Marco!!
Thanks for your great job..for me the choosen one if condirmed on retirement is Battle of Endor..good price for pieces..5 figures and short life...Second one could be Tallneck..amazing to look and build..I very picked up 10 for 33%off..I hope I wasn't wrong:)
Both should be great pick ups
great video! many of the great (at first, second and third glance sets...) will be overhoarded, but still profits to be made. I have trust in the Gravedigger, bought some at 12 I think this one will go up to 40 or higher within a year. Two brickheadz stars wars and potters sets you are talink about should normally at least double in price within 12/18 months. all the mincraft and other themed brickheadz should normally double or tripple at least... Asoka most overhoarded and loved, who know what tha set is going to do... The gamble is on! Have a great one!
Great great thoughts! This is always the risk/gamble! We will see what happens
Interesting insights, as always. Cheers.
💪💪
The new gunship is actually 140 bucks and is s coruscant version.
Ya that was an egregious error on my part for some reason I had the price of ambush in ferrix in my head
I do think the Republic Gunship will go up in value. Sometimes you just get a feel for a good investment and this one seems right to me.
We will see!!!
How can you say central perk isn't doing well? It was very plentiful at $40 last year and is an easy sell in the $60-$70 range right now.
I guess when you look at it that way… but I always use the MSRP as a baseline (which isn’t always fair) but if you do that it has been a poor performer
Will these be around during Black Friday/cyber Monday or will they retire before then? I’ve spent a lot in Lego this year. I’m trying to hold out on spending high money till around Black Friday so I can get more sets for less money
Last year a few sets, like Sesame Street, sold out in October. Seems like there were better deals on Lego’s site in October than November.
Dfuller made a great point. Some sets don’t make it to BF. So there is some risk with holding off. That’s part of the gamble of LEGO investing
Okay, thank you guys for the insight! I’ll keep an eye out for those Lego deals in OCT… Is it usually just the Lego site, or can you see those deals from other sellers as well? Such as Walmart, Amazon, etc.
Just a random question, BD1 fore 75 euros is that a good deal, investment ?
I believe it is retiring so that’s a decent pick up but I’m not super high on it for investing
@@JakesBricks the tallneck frome horizon zero dawn is a better investment you think?
I personally think that the black panther set looks great! I’ve been looking at it for months now. I know you said it’s bad for collecting but I think the attention to detail to that set is amazing. But after watching I have acknowledged that even though is still want it I might probably reconsider. But anyways thank you for your thoughts on that set it has really made me reconsider!
Thanks for the feedback! I also love that set but more people than just us need to love it for it to do well for investing
37:55 Birds of Paradise includes pieces in colors only available in that set.
This is true!
Great video Harry Potter brickheads 4pk are an exclusive so maybe be good investment
Could be! We will see
The only stadium I would ever get would be Stamford Bridge. And based on the other stadiums, probably would wait until discounts
Ya I’m curious if they will make more
im surprised there was no mention of the blacksmith shop, isnt that retiring soon?
It is! Didn’t mean to leave it out. Should be a winner
Thanks Jake. Very interesting. Jake any thoughts on the Batman Batwing 1989 76161? Recently offered a good deal on this 3 year old set.
Batwing is not doing as well as I hoped... But might have to be patient
Did lego medival castle 31120 retire, if it is why is the lrice still at msrp? And is it good investment?
Medieval castle I believe is hanging on another year
@@JakesBricks ok cuz, i dont see him in stores in my country, only second market
Any reason you omitted the Donald Duck Brickheadz series?
Also Zombie from Minecraft and Chip & Dale
I probably should have had them on… Donald has been on the market for a while so I think there is more inventory out there. For some reason I am not as excited about the Minecraft brickheadz but I could be wrong. Chip and dale should do well
Do you upload once a month ?
Not often enough that’s for sure ha!
@@JakesBricksI agree! Not enough! Love your content.
Jake, if you’d seen the recent videos showing how men think about the Roman Empire daily or at least weekly, you might change your take on the investment potential of the Colosseum: 😜😜
I think about the Roman empire daily 😜😜
13:28 You best opportunity to obtain a discount was when there was 20% cash back for LEGO S@H. You can stack discounts with one other retailer with a membership, but community guidelines will not let me say more.
Additionally, I think the only retailers currently with stock are Amazon, LEGO S@H, and Best Buy. Everyone else is currently out of stock. The stock of the Police Station has been coming in and out of stock the past couple of months.
Sounds like you have a secret you should hold close to the chest 😏😏
What if you could buy the black panther for avg $72.77 a pop
I’d buy 100 ha!
missed a couple big time sets that are shown to be retiring on EU lego sites such as medieval blacksmith etc, I assume thats a winner for investing as well
Yes I did miss a few! Medieval blacksmith should be a winner
Ngl there are three sets I want.
D11
The icons truck
The icons Ford
Thats my want to buy before retiring list.
Boom!
Bought 3 sets of central perk for about 50% and sold about msrp, maybe nothing big, but still fine payday for me who invests about 1k bucks a year in lego sets, to budget the hobby.
LOVE IT!
Assembly square MSRP is 300, not 380
Of yes you are right thx for the correction
Nobody seems super high on the Birds of Paradise. Guess I should buy some xD
Might have too 😜
It’s probably because it doesn’t really grab your attention. The leaf to flower ratio is underwhelming. I’ll definitely pick it up for my personal collection because I’ve bought all other botanical sets for myself or others
16:15 - "I'm going to be a little hush hush about it" - Proceeds to tell over 5k people in under 24 hours. Nice one Einstein.
Ya whooooops 🤣🤣🤣
I got the ferrari 488 just for its parts to expand on the 8653 ferrari enzo
Woah I would love to see this!
Dude the msrp on the assembly square is 299 at lego
Shoot what did I say 😬😬
Jake: do not invest in football stadiums
Also Jake: has at least 2 Santiago Bernabeus on his left :)
Definitely don’t invest in them at MSRP! I got mine at 50% off 💪
@@JakesBricks well, we shouldn't get anything for investing at MSRP anyways :) 50% off seems OK :)
@@Luuka988 true true! I wouldn’t even pick these up at 25% off
I think you put the wrong picture for the new guardians ship at set #17
I mis spoke! I put up the right picture I should’ve just said the guardians ship! Thx for the correction
@@JakesBricks i think the orange one could do really good, it's one of the best looking Marvel sets ever, awesome minifigs, fantastic for display with the included stand. Not at MSRP of course, but it was on discounts in the past. The new guardians ship is terrible though, only good thing is Adam Warlock figure :)
Great video, I think all Marvel sets are on hold for now for investments... I'm worried as Disney is on free fall with their marvel shows and movies.
Wanted to ask your opinion, is Lego mad about Castle sets?? Pushing out stuntz and other random under performing themes instead push out something for castle themed or fantasy themed sets is a bit mad
I don’t know… I think castle stuff would be huge winners. They have released a few here and there over the last couple years but I would love for them to re open the castle line!
@@JakesBricks honestly sometimes I think they lost their connection to reality and knowledge of what would sell... I got it that all the branded set needs to come out but city and Ninjago lines are the only originals left
@@patrik32 ‘friends’ as well but yes agreed!!
@@JakesBricks yes you are right, it's just something I haven't buy for myself ( have fun buildings)
Do think the bonsai tree will be retiring this year?
Bonsai is not retiring this year.
What @wzsakul said
I love the "im gonna be hush hush about this". On a video that has 30k views 😂
Whoooops 🤣🤣🤣
Blacksmith??
Forgot to mention on this list! Should be a winner
is the bugle retiring SOMEBODY ANSWER
Nope
A lego collection without Severus Snape is nonsense
Agreed!
what do you think about TITANIC?
not sure about it yet... hoping we see it on discount first
So cody isn't retiring yet ? good
The helmet... Nope not yet
Real Madrid is not worth inverting in!!! Has 2 on his shelf! Mmm…
Not at MSRP! I got mine for 50% off 💪
Nahhh dawg.....thee new gunship is not 70/80 its 140 for 1000 pieces and 5 minifigs
Ya that was a mistake 🤦♂️ I was thinking of the ambush in ferrix
9 min in. Are you open to giving a commentary on my personal investment spreadsheet? It's not crazy I think I have maybe 60-80 sets.
Hey Tom! Feel free to shoot me an email and we can discuss more jake@jakesbricks.com
Controversial on some of those choices, the set im looking at is the jake sully brickheadz under the radar or bag of shi*e?
Tbh I could see it going both ways…
So none of these sets will do well?
Ha I’m not high on too many of them. But if you find discounts then there is certainly money to be made
I’m really mad at Lego for putting Omega unchanged in the advent calendar. They could have given her some kind of xmas decoration so she would still be exclusive for the Justifier
Classic LEGO… 🤦♂️
@@JakesBricks yeah, sometimes I really ask myself wether they do it on purpose or just because they are oblivious to the community
The football stadions are probably doing much better in Europe since those are the top teams and they have fans all over Europe. Not only in the country where the team is from. Yes ... i said football 😎
This makes a ton of sense
why are you Simpsons colored?
Hmmm I don’t see that on my end? Are you watching on mobile, tablet or computer ?
GO CHIEFS
