Love to Ethiopia from Italy. Fun Fact #1: Did you guys also know that Ethiopia helped South Korea during their war against North Korea, I think correct me if I got it wrong. Fun Fact #2: In Ethiopia there are a small amount of Italian schools, I know this because I was born in Italy but I grew up to the age of 7 in Ethiopia and went to an Italian School where they basically teach you stuff but in Italian.
To the Ethiopians out there I reeaaaaaallllllyyy love your culture and language, which is why I converted my religion to Orthodox Christianity, and I'd appreciate it a lot if you tell me more facts by replying to my comment. Ethiopia shall live forever
I wish everyone was like you. It is good to be fascinated by Ethiopia's history and culture, but one should not stop there. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is the ultimate source of Ethiopia's beauty. The only way to LASTING happiness is true Christianity. Congratulations !!!

Love to Ethiopia 🇪🇹 from Armenia 🇦🇲!
Fun Fact: We are both the only Apostolic Christian nations. Edit: to clarify, I mean that the Amharic people in Ethiopia have the same church as us which you Ethiopians call “Ethiopian Orthodox, which is extremely similar to our Armenian Apostolic.”
, we both have VERY similar Alphabet (search it up).
And we both make same style coffee.
Cheers to the Best country in Africa, From Yerevan 🇦🇲
@abdi z i don't think he/she saying Ethiopia has only Christians rather he/she is specifically talking about What kind Christianity Ethiopia has and It's the only one in Africa. Of course, it's still not accurate Eritrea also have some followers of this Religion.
abdi z, sorry brother but the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church is the most culturally dominant institution in Ethiopia. And last time I checked, 60% percent of the country was Christian with 50 pertaining to Oriental Orthodoxy.
Cheers, Levon Alyanakian, I’m Orthodox Christian myself. Seeing as how your and I both pertain Oriental Orthodoxy: we do have a
lot of things in similar.
@abdi z With the exception of Oromo, all the other regions you mentioned have small pupulations, hence why the Christians make up the majority of the population. You can google that information yourself. But it doesn't really matter which religion is majority. Christianity and Islam are not that different from each other. Ethiopians of all religions have lived together for centuries without a lot of problems and that should be a source of pride.

Cool video! I'm half Italian half Ethiopian (funny, I know), my father comes from the Amhara region but I was born and raised in Italy.
It's true, they are incredibly proud of their Country and travelling across Ethiopia you can see a ton of different features on their faces due to such ethnic variety.
Rahel T. D., Hi ራሄል (Rachel), I’m a Habesha myself.
But there is. Tell me, are you an Ethiopian yourself, if so you would that the phrase Habesha is used to refer to Ethiopians as a whole. Maybe you should think a little bit more before speaking sir.
Maybe it was your incompetence with Ethiopia and its culture that lead you to brazenly state against the obvious. This video is not comprehensive; it was only created to serve as a primer not to encapsulate or punctiliously describe Ethiopia in its full entirety otherwise the video would not have been this short. I recommend that you at least comprehend a modicum of a subject before discharging an opinion.
@Daniel Raya What's with all the hate? As long as they search for their heritage and identify with it, they are 100% Ethiopians. The word "ትውልደ ኢትዮጵያዊ" (Ethiopian descent) literally means that anyone who has an Ethiopian ancestor, wherever they may be born. You can't take away their genes. You should rather encourage children of the diaspora to look for and hold on to their roots because they are our ambassadors to the outside world.

Awassa is such a beautiful and friendly city. I stayed there for 2 weeks. Next time I will visit Amhara. I'm a veteran and spent a long time in the US military and this is my favorite country. This country has captured my heart. The people are so beautiful and agreeable. Addis Ababa is a fast growing city and I think Ethiopia has a great future! I have to mention the coffee here is by far the best coffee I've ever had and I'm a coffee snob. I hope one day to retire and live in this country.
If you're into historical landmarks, you should definitely visit Gondar castle and Lalibela. I'm no expert on giving advice, but i wouldn't recommend retiring to this country after a 2 weeks visit, unless you have relatives there, or are married to an Ethiopian, or speak the language. Then there's the issue of ownership of property which is complex, unless you're just renting. That's just a few obstacles, but it's definitely worth visiting.
@@jolandajong4068 Im both married to an Ethiopian and learning Amharic fast from native speakers but thanks for the concern. I'm going to Amhara next time so I will see Gondar, Lake Tana, and the Abay River (known as the blue Nile to outsiders)
@Woiller- Relic What choice does Ethiopia have? Ethiopia doesn't have mineral wealth and is landlocked. It has a double handicap and daunting challenges. The US or EU aren't helping Ethiopians in that department. You're basically saying it won't end well either way, damn if they do and damn if they don't.
If ur a coffee snob, thank heavens coz ur in the birth place of coffee😁🇪🇹
Then retire and live in our country that an awesome idea!!
As a Somalia I went to Ethiopia last year 2019, it was my first time i been there..in Addis Ababa it was really nice place and i met friendly people..my trip has changed my perception about Ethiopia generally...as you know there have been many wars between Ethiopia and Somalia for centuries..i came to know that the problem was not really from the Ethiopian people but from the politicians who come to power which they try to pursue a fascist policies against their neighbouring Somalia.
It was really different from what I thought...thanks to the people of Ethiopia i hope we will live in peace and have a mutual respect for each other.
I believe if we would have been friends from the beginning we would have established a good partnership in many sectors mainly economic partnership and cultural integration where we share a long border and cultural similarities as well as our Cushitic background.
Somalia would really offer Ethiopia a sea access for port and Maritime transportation for their economic backbone.
Let’s just collaborate peacefully we really need each other than our differences.

13:25 That ”Ensete” stuff kind of reminds me of ”Pettuleipä” (”bark bread”). We actually made it once at camp school back on 7th grade, to get a feel for, how Finns persevered through ”Suuret nälkävuodet” (”the great hunger years”) of 1866-1868. I absolutely loved it, it tasted like perfectly normal wheat or oat bread, and even the dried ”pettu” (”tree bark”), itself, tasted delicious, it was like healthy potato chips. Really just the idea of using wood material for food is, what reminded me of that; otherwise the dishes have little to nothing in common. The ”pettu” was also incredibly difficult to harvest, as it’s really not the outer-most skin of the tree, itself, but the extremely thin layer just under it.

Then again there are 195 countries and I realise legal issues may get in the way but imagine how legendary it would be if you did visit each one in person!

Amazing content!
Not to mention the fact that the Ogaden region was actually part of Somalia and it was given to Ethiopia by the British colonials. 99.9% of the population favor Somalia and hope that one day they reunite with their country🇸🇴❤️
I am Ethiopian but I agree with you, they should be given a choice
Yep i agree they should reunite with somalia
Somalia itself is a colonial creation anyway, somalis never lived in a single nation, state or empire
@Ibrahim Hassan dumb*ss, where did I say Somalis never created any kingdom or nation? I only said they never were all united under a single entity, which is true. The ajuraan empire to his height went from Kismayo to Qelafo, so not all Somalis were under this empire. Adal was only in Somaliland, not central and southern modern Somalia
@Ibrahim Hassan means they never lived under one ruler(king, emperor..) so their modern situation isn't that different them being ruled by several governments(Kenya, Somalia, somaliland, djibouti, ethiopia and maybe more in the future)
I'm a Pakistani and Ethiopia has always fascinated me, would love to visit this beautiful country one day. Fun fact: In Pakistan we have a sweet by the name of "habshi halwa" which is commonly eaten.

correction: the letter on your shirt is geez alphabets. amharic and tigrgina uses that alphabet.
and amharic is the working language not official languge.each region has its own working languge.
Gurage use geez aswell and some other groups
he is not talking about Regions official languages..its about the country's official language,Thaats Amharic!
i know both geez and amharic and speak too.that is not geez .geez donot have ሸቸጨጀዠቨ fidels it is for amharic (t-shirt.)
@@the_fam so true bro !
Who are gurage? I want to know more about them
In 1948, Britian turned the Somali territory of Ogaden over to Ethiopia. In 1977, Somalia invaded Ethiopia in an attempt to regain the Ogaden also known as West Somalia and Somali Galbeed. Because of alliance, the Soviet Union supplied Ethiopia (also supported by Yemen and Germany) with over 15,000 Cuban troops and Soviet militants during the 1977-78 Ogaden war shifting the advantage to Ethiopia and resulting in Somalia's defeat. The Ogaden National Front (ONLF) still continue to carry out guerrilla activity in the region today. Somaliweyn or Greater Somalia has not been lost in our hearts. Once we rise again, the mission for unification will continue in the future. Inshallah.
Aight cool
Don't dream hell
Sounds a bit scary but brother all this talk about reunification, why can't we just focus on what we got? We've had enough of senseless death for a decades now.
INSHAALLAH..VERRY SOON BRO
For Somalia who think about war with Ethiopia
If there is 2nd war
You must knew there is no Somalia anymore

bro that just a great information you got about us! and abdu i want to say u just did good job too!
Lovely information about a beautiful country and the eye candy that is Abdul 😍
Fun fact:
"Ethiopia" the word has origins in Ancient Greek as it means "burned people."
Story goes that Helios, god of the sun, let his mortal son drive his chariot to drag the sun across the sky for a laugh. He lost control because he was a silly mortal, and dragged the sun too close to the earth over Ethiopia and burned the skin of everyone in the land.
Ancients Greeks believed some whacky stuff.
How is that any less whacky than any religion today?
@@ilpoahlfors1118 seriously
@@ilpoahlfors1118 FACTS!!!
its actually "burnt face" get it right lol
The Greeks used the word Ethiopia but Ethiopians have rock inscriptions that point to the use as old as the Greeks of not more. The Greek version isn’t the origin, it’s a wacky interpretation lol

Yohannes Gemechu, I agree fellow Habesha. This was meticulously excellent, and pretty much everything is correct information.
Hey,
It's a very informative video! One thing I would add to the list would be Hadiyya people from SNNP. They are one of the oldest civilizations in Ethiopia and they are one of the most influential regions in formation of the government if Ethiopia.
That was fascinating ❤❤❤❤
I love these videos about countries subdivisions
