  • I did this video to show the teardown of a Honda CT90 ad CT200 gas caps so that people would have a better understanding of what the internal cavity of a gas cap looks like. Its always important to make sure the vent holes of a gas cap are open and clear so that gas is free to flow to the carburetor.
Here is a link to my CT90 blog where I have a much more information on how to work on a CT90 and also CT200's: ct90restoration.blogspot.com
You can see a complete video of a cut-away CT90 engine I built here at this link: • CT90 Engine Exposed!

Thanks for taking the time to show that I found it interesting after wondering how they worked.

Thanks for posting. Funny you say this is often overlooked . Exactly my experience.
I cleaned my CT110 fuel tank with POV and sealed. Rust 100% removed!
Later... I'm stuck on the side of the road, and my once extremely reliable Honda... died and will not start🤔
Thankfully, I have clear fuel lines and after some time (and lots of kicking, realize that after running for a while...the fuel system is creating a vacuum. I cleaned out those little holes in the gas cap and ... 👍success! Back on the road. During the POR tank treatment, the holes had gotten partially clogged.
    Check the cap!

I saw a gas cap that had an open/close vent cap by twisting a threaded vent cap... I'm not sure if it was OEM

I've never seen such a thing on a CT90 but Honda DID use Metal Fuel Caps with a Manual Vent (Not "threaded" though) on their Express 50 Mopeds (78 to 82 for certain) & perhaps others. I believe Yamaha did the same - Pretty sure my 81/82 Yamahopper has, essentially, the same style cap. Both OEM.

Where can you get a decent replacement? Previous owner drilled holes through mine.

You should be able to find a gas cap on eBay or at a CT90 parts site like www.dratv.com
