Got to hand it to South African defence engineers. They really know how to achieve a lot with a relatively low budget. From the Mirage 3 aircraft upgrades (easily the most advanced and capable varients produced), to indigenous missile systems, small arms, you name it they've had a crack at a locally produced option. Most impressive for me are the ground systems, especially armoured vehicles like the casspir. They'd sussed the value of mine resistant vehicles way before anyone in Europe or America and without question invented the MRAP type vehicle, as we now know it. Just hope the SA defence industry can survive into the 21st century, be a shame to lose that capacity for innovation. Its a very different place these days, some things for the better....many things, not so much!

I guess the day will come when they are tested. We just have to pray they can defend us.

What is the most elite South African Special Operations unit? By that, I'm talking of a counter terror/direct action (basically more kinetic and less "battalion/company" sized SF units)??? Like what's South Africa's SEAL TEAM 6 or Delta/TF Green? I know about the older SFB (which is like our Marine Corps Special Ops/MARSOC or our Rangers in terms of training)

The sad truth is that the private military forces in south africa outnumber the army and police and far more experienced and better trained with the latest gear.

I respect the fact that you are not shooting them down, you could have been childish and said worse but you didnt. Regarding what you said about skill, SA has not seen much action, only our peace keeping forces are involved which is not a lot of feet on the ground if im not mistaken.

@@siba-mini8377 you are mistaken, SA is the only peacekeeping nation that is cleared for direct action and offensive action against the enemy by the UN. SANDF soldiers deployed to DRC are the primary QRF as well and see a lot of action.
