Make your own David Leadbetter STRAIGHT AWAY

  • In this video, I will show you how to make your own David Leadbetter STRAIGHT AWAY for just a few dollars. The straight away is a fantastic device to ensure you start the takeaway correctly. However, in my opinion it is extremely over engineered and way too expensive. If you want to eliminate your slice, increase your distance and improve your ball striking you must take the club away correctly. This device will help you do that for sure.
if you watch all the top pros they all take the club back in the same ballpark because they know that you have to start making compensations immediately if you don’t. tiger woods, Rory McIlroy and others all get this first 2 feet in the take away correct.
Given the name "Straight Away," one might infer that this training aid is designed to promote a straight and accurate ball flight. Here are potential features and principles associated with such a training aid:
    Alignment Assistance:
The training aid could focus on helping golfers achieve proper alignment. This may involve visual guides, markers, or features that encourage consistent alignment relative to the target.
    Swing Path Correction:
If the aim is to promote straight shots, the training aid may include elements that guide golfers in achieving a straight and on-plane swing path. This could involve physical structures or markers that reinforce the correct swing path.
    Versatility:
An effective training aid is often versatile, catering to golfers of different skill levels. Adjustable components or settings may be incorporated to allow users to customize the aid based on their specific needs.
    Feedback Mechanism:
Immediate feedback is a crucial aspect of training aids. The "Straight Away Golf Training Aid" might provide feedback, such as audible cues or visual indicators, to help golfers understand when their swing deviates from the desired straight path.
    Hypothetical Usage Guidelines:
    Consistent Practice:
Like any training aid, consistent and focused practice is key. Regular use of the "Straight Away Golf Training Aid" can contribute to muscle memory and improved swing consistency.
    Integration with Drills:
Golfers may benefit from integrating the training aid into various practice drills. This could include combining its use with other exercises to address different aspects of the swing.
    Alignment Checks:
Beyond swing correction, the training aid might encourage golfers to use it for quick alignment checks during practice sessions. Reinforcing proper setup habits is essential for achieving straight shots.
    Conclusion:
While specific details about the "Straight Away Golf Training Aid" are not available, the general principles outlined above can be applied to understand how a training aid with this focus might operate. For accurate and detailed information about this specific training aid, it is recommended to refer to the product's official documentation, reviews, or contact the manufacturer directly. Always check for the latest developments and user feedback to ensure that the training aid aligns with your specific goals and preferences.

Even faster and cheaper is to use a Post-It note. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite. Stick the Post-It note on the shaft so the left edge points straight down the shaft and your diagonal line is at a 45 deg angle. You can hit balls with it and it doesn’t fall off. Thank you!!!

I did this and it worked. My spin rate was 4000 or more. After installing the DIY cardboard and practicing the straight takeaway i got it down to under 3000. It takes practice but this really did work for me.

This is great. The same training results can be achieved by striping or using an alignment stick on the ground at a roughly 45 degree angle to the target line at the trail foot. Use your core to get the club shaft pointed directly over that line. Over and over.

Thanks for the plans and explanation of the device. Not an expert like David Leadbetter but it seems strange that this amount of club travel could have a big impact - but maybe good as a refresher/check of the move away.

Just made one for myself in 20-30 minutes using a frozen lasagna box, hahaha. Great video and thanks for making it. I'm poor and can't afford to drop money on all these golf gadgets, so this was great for me. Also, by the way, I used 3 flat neodymium disc magnets (1/2" diameter) to hold it to the shaft (steel shafts) instead of velcro. Works like a charm! Thanks again! I subscribed.

Another excellent take away check is the take your stance. Place an alignment rod touching your left heel and your right toe (for a right handed golfer). When you get your hands at your right hip and parallel to the ground, the club shaft should be parallel to the alignment rod. Your clubhead will be outside your hands at this point and on plane.

Good idea. An important feature everyone misses is not just the 45 degree angle from the shaft but the 45 degree angle of the plane that the arrow is on to the triangle. This ensures the correct amount of hinge and face orientation.
I have a video coming out with a 3d printed version so stay tuned.

You indicated 2.75 inches for the vertical lines of the triangle. You did not indicate the length of the horizontal line of the triangle so not knowing the length makes the drawing impossible to accurately produce. Unless I am wrong. I could be wrong!!

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  Před 8 měsíci +1

The equal sides of the triangle are both 2.75 inches. As they form a right angle you don’t need the length of the long side although you could use the Pythagoras theorem. Hope that helps. If not try to be more specific so I can elaborate. Thanks.
