Recently I was wondering what to do with the money I'd get from the sale of my house, and investing in bonds is something I've seen talked about for ages, but never looked into properly...
I've got an appointment with a financial advisor from a new bank I'm creating an account with. We'll be talking about bonds and how they work, so I've been studying, but I still only have very limited knowledge...
I also talk about why I was starting a new bank account in the first place, and have a little look around the island during the holidays.

Hey Tom stumbled by your vids by chance. I’m in Malta myself and an avid mororbike driver too. Just started using eToro myself using the copying feature and learning as I go along. There is a popular demand locally for older classic bikes which you might not need that amount of money but well worth considering.
Hi Alfred - it's so lovely riding around up near Girgenti. What a pleasure those roads through the countryside and all around Rabat are.
I don't trust banks at all they either go bust like the 2 or 3 in America a couple years ago or they close the small local/convenient branches, I only have 1 bank account now and 1 credit card to keep my credit score at a really good rate. All in all though last year was really good for me financially (mostly ETORO) and I hope this year is the same if not better.

Cheers Nick, a really cheap one :) A Kymco agility 16+. It's a 125cc from Taiwan I believe. I love it :) So so good, especially here in Malta. Easy to manoeuvre, park anywhere, cheap to run, loads of fun actually riding around. It's wonderful. But a bit cold right now... I though I could get away with a spring jacket and thicker overcoat. Nope. Always buy proper gear...

@@SocialTradingAren't you a UK resident? Anyway, I guess you want to put all your money into a single investment too, which limits ISAs due to their yearly restrictions.

Yeah, they look amazing but don’t really exist in malta. We do have fixed term deposit accounts though which seemed attractive and different government bonds do come with some tax incentives I think. I need to see the details of them first.
Bank is the worst place to keep money in. At least in UK

Tough to know where to put it to work... I mean really, with digital payments, banks are pretty necessary now, so I'm not sure how to avoid them completely. I'm trying to find the best of them...
@@SocialTrading dunno. In UK when my friend uses 3rd world bank to transfer few k he is banned cuz banks knows better what's good to him.
You can have hundreds of thousands and won't spend it cuz it's the bank who will decide.... It's like cbdc already in place

Id say property is the safest investment.
It does look that way historically speaking… still a tough market to really understand in terms of what segments will appreciate most in differing economic conditions.
