      Totally agree. I think the oem bracelet looks great as is. Plus something about the strap code bracelets that I've seen just really doesn't do it for me.

    • @HGX1
      @HGX1 Před 6 lety +26

      Completely agree. It’s way too chunky for a small Rolex explorer style watch. The bracelet needs to be thin and I love how the end links look great on the Oem, the only downside is the clasp gap, other wise amazing bracelet.

    • @Nyelands
      @Nyelands Před 6 lety +17

      Agree. All design guidelines are broken putting this bracelet on the Sarb. Too beefy and the clasp is something you would put on a big diver, not a dressier watch as the Sarb. In short it's a mismatch.

    • @Murdoc370
      @Murdoc370 Před 6 lety +6

      You are so right. I actually own an Angus Jubilee and used it a short while on my SARB017 Alpinist, and it is just too much: too massive, too thick and too blingy for these watches. And the clasp is perhaps even thicker than the watch head... the poor SARBs can't shine on these. I actually put my 017 on a bracelet I took from one of my 8926 OB Invictas. Fits perfectly, but in case of th SARB 033 and 035, I do think the original is just fine. MAYBE a Super Jubilee from Strapcode would fit better...?

  • @vcupiano
    @vcupiano Před 5 lety +44

    I might consider if it were half the price. $124 is outrageous.

  • @najib19nawas
    @najib19nawas Před 6 lety +88

    The "angus" design overwhelms this watch, the proportions do not look right. I think the "super jubilee" version would have been a home run.

      I thought so too, but it works.

    • @porschephile2k3
      @porschephile2k3 Před 5 lety +6

      I think the main problem with the Angus Jubilee is that it doesn't taper, hence it looks chunky. If it tapered to say, 18 mm I think it will look better.

    • @numberstation
      @numberstation Před 5 lety +4

      As soon as I saw it I felt the same. The Super Jubilee was perfect but the Angus drowns it. So I’m still looking for a decent Jubilee for my Sarb035....

      I absolutely agree. I own 2 skx013 super jubilees and I love it....Uncle seiko jubilee has hollow end links and folded clasp and is overpriced ...waiting for strapcode to make the super jubilee for my sarb033 and 035

  • @PyskoDude
    @PyskoDude Před 6 lety +61

    im not sure why they went with the angus jubilee. its too bulky for a 38mm dress watch imo. i have a super jubilee on an skx and its an amazing pairing. the skx is a decently bigger watch than the sarb and having a bulkier jubilee on the smaller watch just doesnt make much sense to me. the clasp is over kill too. 4 micro adjustments would be plenty. 6 just makes the clasp huge. i may seem like im complaining but the bracelet has the potential to be perfect. i guess everyone has a different opinion. itll sell out regardless.

    • @Nyelands
      @Nyelands Před 6 lety +6

      Couldn't agree more. Especially the big clasp on a dress watch is a terrible mismatch.

    • @PyskoDude
      @PyskoDude Před 6 lety

      apparently the skx013 oem jubilee works on with the sarb033. the jubilee definitely works with the sarb end links and apparently the skx013 end links can be shaped well because theyre hollow. just ordered one from marc. the one bad thing about the sarb end links in this case is that they leave an "empty link" in the centre.

    • @islandwatch
      @islandwatch  Před 6 lety +2

      I agree the clasp is large, but I do like the look of the links.

    • @MrDoggerDog
      @MrDoggerDog Před 6 lety +1

      I'm with you. The SARB with those gargantuan D-links is distracting. I like the SARB on a bracelet more than leather, so perhaps I'm in the "OEM bracelet" camp too.

  • @jcolem5576
    @jcolem5576 Před 4 lety +3

    I just installed this bracelet on my SARB033 and I can tell you it absolutely does not overpower or overwhelm this watch. What it does is take an already nice watch and makes it look like a watch that costs much, much more than it does. It's stunning with this bracelet and it feels amazing as well. It really is quality. I will be ordering one for my Islander diver. Great video Marc.

  • @scootercj798
    @scootercj798 Před 4 lety +1

    I agree that it is too much for the watch. A super jubilee with female endlinks would be perfect. Also I kinda agree the price is a little dear. Why doesn't strapcode use more female end links? Pretty much everybody likes them.

  • @ForbinColossus
    @ForbinColossus Před 6 lety +5

    I have noticed that when you use the micro-adjust, the links of the bracelet that go in get scratched by the hinging action against the buckle closure. I definitely prefer it attached at the last micro-adjustment hole (the way it comes stock).

    I'm more an Oyster than Jubilee kind of person myself - the SARB033 is on the short list of "next Seiko" (hopefully before it's too late), and I'd love to see an improved version of the stock bracelet. Hm... I see Strapcode DOES have one. Nice.

    Maybe it was the lighting or my perception but I can tell that the shade of the Angus stainless steel is brighter compared to the shade of brushing of the Sarb033. One look is enough to tell the difference and not cohesive.

    I guess what strapcode realized are the normal production differences/deviations and not a systematic difference between both models. Sarb's looks the best with the bracelet style used on the Speedmaster. Its a 3 link bracelet, but the centre link has polish strip on either side. Its a more fitting bracelet for a dress watch of this type. But its very hard to find the bracelet with the proper end links for this Sarb Case.
    The Angus Jubilee is too chunky for a dress watch like this. I prefer Jubilee's on dive watches only, and they look damn good on them too.

  • @dpearson80808

    I actually prefer to take more links out on the inside (6 o’clock) side. This is because of the fact that due to the way the class is shaped, the “hinge” portion that is against your wrist will stick out and make one of the links bulge on the outside (12 o’clock) side. Also, I find that the clasp is just not centred when the number of links are even on both sides. I think this is because our wrists are not symmetrical, at least I find with mine, due to the fact there is more muscle and tendons on the side of your wrist with the fingers, and on the side with the thumb it’s mostly the bone. The result is that the clasp (and I mean the actual part that is curved and rests against the bottom of your wrist) is perfectly centred, and so is the watch head on top of my wrist. I also do not experience the classic issue of the watch turning towards the outside of my wrist, and say dangling down while I drink a mug of coffee, or extend my arm while talking. No matter what position my arm is in, the watch head stays exactly where I like it: so the 12 side lug is up close to my wrist knuckle, and the crown is perpendicular, also close to my wrist knuckle. It makes a kind of L shape in my mind, if you drew a line through the lug (parallel to the orientation of the watch), and another line coming straight out of the crown (perpendicular to the orientation of the watch) this makes an “L” type shape, or rather just a 90 degree angle. Inside the field of this L is where my wrist knuckle is. Exactly how close to my knuckle and precisely positioned it is depends on the specific watch. But whenever I am sizing a bracelet, I always take more links from the 6 o’clock side, in some cases all of the links I take out are from this side. But it makes sense when you consider the fact that a human wrist is not a symmetrical circle or oval. It is oblong and asymmetrical. But to each his own, YMMV!

      The sarb033 solid oem endlinks connect to the SKX bracelet?

    Strap code doesn’t make a super jubilee for this watch?

    The SARB017 fits better with the Angus Jubilee than the 033/035 do. The Oyster style looks better on 033/035, but no so much on the SARB017, however I will admit just like in some of the other comments, that maybe a Super Jubilee would have been the better overall option, as it is smaller.
    I just received my Angus Jubilee for the Alpinist yesterday and I've mounted the bracelet. It is a beefy bracelet no doubt, but even if it's a bit massive compared to 017, I still think it's way better than the crappy leather strap that comes with the watch by default and it is still better built than the OEM bracelet. Now, if only I knew that Strapcode finally made some bracelets for the 033, I would have ordered one for it as well :|.

    I like the sarb as much as the next guy BUT.. they are expensive now then add the cost of the bracelet and your getting into A price bracket full of FAR superior watches

      Long Island Watch unfortunately not for me but only because of the terrible exchange rate and new import taxes on us poor Australians.
      $489 u.s for the watch plus $150 u.s for the bracelet ends up being $860 Australian dollars plus 10% import tax takes it up to $946 AUD 😳.
      Don’t get me wrong I love my sarb but there’s absolutely no way it will ever be a $1000 watch in my mind and I’m sure plenty of enthusiasts will feel the same

    Are you going to stock the model for the 035? How soon? I'm one of those guys who can't get the original bracelet sized right and would LOVE the extra adjust ability!

    This bracelet is too chunky for sarb design imho...and the clasp is too big. The best deal would be if one could buy combo from Strapcode in a way to use endlinks from this braclet in the video, the bracelet itself should be Strapcode Super jubilee for SKX013 but the clasp should be from Strapcode SKX007 Super jubilee because on the strapcode skx013 jubilee bracelet the clasp is also too big. This shouldn't be a problem cuz all this parts are connected with screws so it's easy to modify this combo...

    Hi Marc,
    Is this nice Angus Jubilee bracelet adaptable to my SEIKO Alpinist (SARB 017)? I really like like it, but I´d rather use it on my Alpinist than on my SARB 033, or the 035.
    Thanks,
    Emilio

    @Long Island Watch, what's the size in mm of the tip of the screwdriver that you usually use to adjusting the Strapcode links?

  • @agx502

    Strapcode bracelets have lots of sharp edges and cause many hotspots on the wrist. I ordered a hexad bracelet direct from Strapcode and whilst it looked nice from a design point of view, as soon as I put it on my wrist I got a rude awakening.
    Look at this video carefully and you will see how sharp the edges are. I don’t think much has changed.
    The strapcodes are nothing like the OEM bracelets. Seiko would never dream of releasing anything like this purely from a health and safety point of view.

      Pep Rex I mean that the bracelet causes redness and general irritation of the skin on the wrist.
