    I totally agree with this video. I see so many videos where women have mountains of designer handbags and to me ..... that hints there’s something wrong psychologically that they’re trying to fix thru luxury shopping. There’s something wrong with you, mentally, if you feel it’s normal to want to drop $5K on luxury bags every month. All you need are key pieces that optimize your wardrobe and you’re good to go! It doesn’t take 20 and 50 handbags. And that is my opinion.

    I've been sucked back into watching luxury CZcams videos and wanting so many bags. I recently got a Coach Cassie and I honestly feel satisfied (even though I also want the coach cassie 19 in chalk 👀) but Ireland is still in lockdown so it's not like I'll be using them often

    I absolutely LOVED this video! 💯 It might be my favourite ever! As a lover of luxury, it gets soooo overwhelming when I see so many influencers / youtubers / luxe lovers buy so many of the same things, especially for SLGs!!!! 😨 Personally, I only have 3-5 SLGs in my collection and I literally use each piece to death because they suit my lifestyle and I don’t need a gazillion other SLGs to keep swapping out. 🤭
    thanks for this video, Carol! It’s definitely something we needed to hear!

      Thanks!!! ❤️ I completely agree. Plus I also find the idea of having to constantly move my stuff from one SLG to another such a chore 😅 Having my things inside SLGs is supposed to help make it easier for me to switch bags but it kind of defeats the purpose if I need to constantly rotate my SLGs too.

    In his eyes they are literally the SAME and now I agree. I’ve since curated my collection and I only have 2 mono bags left. I am considering adding a reverse mono though 🤪

    I really appreciate your video! Unfortunately, I think you are in the minority with all the influencers and youtubers out there showcasing so many bags, etc. they’ve acquired. Simply redundant as you put it and one person can’t possibly use all those things, especially, with the pandemic still going on. Having a more thoughtful curated wardrobe, bag, Slg’s, etc. you’ll enjoy your things more. Enjoy shopping in your own closet is what I’ve been doing and I feel so much more creative and content. It took this pandemic to help me appreciate that.

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety +3

      Shopping your own closet is something I think everyone needs to do more. When the pandemic first started I definitely felt myself buying more (especially bags) but it just didn’t make sense after a while. Realistically I do not need a never ending supply of new bags and I did just fine even before I purchased my first luxury item. Plus there is an excitement in using something I haven’t touched in a while instead of needing to have something new.
      Buying new things all the time for the sake of having a large collection doesn’t appeal to me at all. If anything it causes me stress. I’ve recently gotten rid of a ton of my makeup and I feel so much better now that I only have one foundation, blush, mascara, etc.

    This was such a needed video. And I have the exact YSL blush pink bag with silver hardware, too. I Love it. It's a classic and will never go out of style. It's been around for years and they keep making it. And the color you have, I've never seen it go into a sale. It's very desirable. Later on in life, you may regret selling it. I use the zipper compartment as a catch all. I put them all in a little plastic bag first to protect the interior. It fits everything for an evening out. I say, the YSL is for really dressy occasions and the LV (again classic) monogram is for a more edgy night out like with pants or jeans and designer shoes/boots. I think both are good to have. Sell the one with the tassel. Yes, you are so right, I only have a pouch (Chanel) and a key holder (Prada). My bags need to be protected from my keys and lip balm, etc. I only buy bags with a zipper inside so I keep my license and credit card(s) really secure. So no need for a card holder or a wallet. Full size wallets were made for when we carried a check book. I agree whole heartedly with you about LV redundancy.

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety +1

      I wonder if I might regret selling the YSL bag in the future too but I realized that I rely on my husband carrying whatever doesn’t fit in the bag and maybe I just need a bigger bag. I don’t usually use the zippered compartments on bags but if there’s an open pocket I will sometimes put my cards/cash in there if I’m too lazy to grab my cardholder. I have a total of 5 SLGs and I consistently use 4 of them. The only one I don’t use much is the medium kirigami pouch but I use the other two in the set enough to offset it. When I think about it, I definitely have more than I need and it makes me wonder what’s the perfect balance between what I need and what I want.

  • @therealshakeen
    @therealshakeen Před 3 lety +5

    Carol, I agree with everything 200% lol. As a luxury lover, I can see how we can become guilty of buying multiples. For example, I buy multiple classic flaps and costume jewellery. I'm good with SLGs because I'm too lazy to switch out of them, rather I swap them from bag to bag. I think part of the reason why people like to buy multiples is that they like to collect and want to hold onto these to sell later at some point. For example, the rare iridescent pieces from Chanel. They know they are hard to get so they'll buy them if they have a chance and hold onto them to sell later.
    I'm guilty of buying multiple heels in different colours very well knowing that I won't wear them as much.
    I think we also buy additional items because we want a change from the past. Or perhaps the previous item didn't fulfil our desire as much as the newer item. In that case, I think the healthy thing to do is to sell an item so it can be replaced with the new one.
    Great topic!

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety +1

      I am the exact same with SLGs. I can’t be bothered to swap them out because for me SLGs are supposed to make changing my bags easier.
      You bring up some very good points. I think sometimes people are too focused on the next new thing that they don’t appreciate what was once considered rare and valuable because it’s old news. I find that many times these bags only resell for higher than retail for a short span of time before everyone inevitably moves on to the next hyped thing and they’re no longer willing to pay a premium.

I recently scored the Mini Pochette in DE(my fav canvas) I almost wanted to see if I could get a monogram version just because it’s so hard to come by. But tbh I don’t really love monogram. DE is my fav pattern and I had to come to that moment where you don’t need multiples. It’s just this consumerism mindset of constantly wanting more.Great video

      Good choice 😄 Personally I think it’s gratifying actually getting so much use out of something that it falls apart not because it’s bad quality or you didn’t maintain it well. I know I probably won’t get to that point for bags but it’s doable for SLGs. And I’ve had most of my SLGs for 4+ years and they’re still looking great. So even just having a small set of 4 that gets used daily will last so long.

    I agree with most of the video, especially about Chanel/LV colors and patterns 😆 (I may be biased since I'm not a big fan of Chanel prices and LV monogram) The pink YSL WOC is really nice to have for more dressy events though, and I wouldn't consider that and the LV kirigami pouch interchangeable at all since the LV pouch is so much more casual.
    I've yet to buy luxury cardholders, but it's something I wouldn't mind multiples of. I'd get one or two 6-slot ones as daily workhorses (which narrows down options significantly - 4 slots isn't enough for what I carry; I had to carry two types of card cases before I got a 6-slot one), then get a couple more with fewer slots when I feel like switching things up and know I don't need to carry as much. They're also a more attainable option for when I want something from a particular collection but don't want to/can't commit to getting a bag

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety

      Ahh yes they’re not really interchangeable but I think if I really want a clutch the kirigami will do. I think for me a mini bag serves the same purpose as a clutch. Plus I would be able to use it more because it fits more.
      I think part of the appeal of SLGs is definitely that it’s priced much lower than bags. It’s easier to justify spending $300 for a slice of luxury than it is to spend $3000.

    Although I do agree with only needing one cardholder, I personally like having multiple because I think it's fun to switch them out from time to time. I tend to go for loud, fun colors from various brands so it's not repetitive. I do agree it's unnecessary to buy 3 of the same bag in different canvases or the same bag in different sizes. I can understand however why someone would want all 3 toiletry bags. If you're using them for what they're actually intended for (not a clutch) each size serves a different purpose. But that could just be how I envision using them.

    Interesting points. I agree with how some people wanting to buy the Chanel classic flaps just with different hardwares being excessive especially with the crazy prices. But I think getting different colors for the classic flaps or minis are not a bad thing if you can afford it. I bought a Speedy 30 in damier azur as my first bag during the summer and ended up buying the 25 in the Ebene print for the fall. Mainly because they were both affordable starter pieces. That was years ago. Last year I ended up getting the speedy b 25 in Monogram. I enjoy having all them since I feel that the colors are different. Same for the Neverfull in the Azur for summer and Ebene for the winter. They all serve different purposes.

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety

      I would suggest either a flap bag or a top handle bag for something that can transition well from day to night. One of my favorites is the Lady Dior (the small size would probably be best for the situation you described). Or you can go for one of the many flap bag options from YSL. Chanel is also always a good option if you’re willing to spend a little bit more. And if you don’t mind the delicate smooth box leather, the Celine classic box bag or Triomphe bag are also good options. I also really like the Alma from Louis Vuitton, but only if you get the epi leather if you want it to work for both day and night. Hope this helps! 😊

      @@CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC great !! I am more confident with LV Alma now that you have suggested.
      I am also looking at picking a YSL but confused with Kate medium, WOC and loulou small. I am looking at something which is timeless and classy and I am very confused. Which would be your pick from YSL if you have to choose one.

    • @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC
      @CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC  Před 3 lety +1

      Of the ones you listed, all of them have a very classic look. The Kate style has been around for longer but since there’s nothing particularly trendy about the Loulou I don’t think that style will date either.
      Personally I only like the Kate if it has the tassel. Without it, I feel like it’s a little too plain. And I might be wrong but I think most of the medium Kate bags I see don’t have the tassel.
      Aside from that, I think it really depends on how big of a bag you want. There’s a huge difference between the size of the Kate WOC and the small Loulou. I have the Kate WOC and it really doesn’t fit much at all. So out of the three choices, if I wanted a classic and multifunctional bag I would pick the Loulou.

One Gucci Soho Disco camera in black. They are all the same shape and size but all look completely different with different colors. Color is the main ingredient. I don't think we need 6 black leather crossbody bags but 6 different color leather crossbody bags makes sense.
