  • Ormsby creates something very unique with the HYPE guitars and follow a very clear line of wanting to build a modern metal tool. Everything about the instrument screams "aggressive" and yet it played effortlessly and you don't have to fight at all.

    Finally a guitar for those days when you have to rock, but also need to hunt down a white whale.

    I have two ormsbys, love them! In fact I loved my first ormsby so much I drew up a design for them! Death from above! Available at the ormsby site!

      Gods Reclamation I also don’t have paul Gilbert/Steve Vai hands and I’ve never had a problem playing them. I have Jacksons and an Ibanez and the ormsby plays just as fast and smooth as those, if not better!

      That's awesome, I've had my ormsby for about a month now (hype gtr 7) and the Nunchucker pickup seems a bit dark. Are you familiar with the Hot rock pickup? I'm thinking of swapping out.. I like to play very technical death metal , so dont want that single coil split sound..🤘👍 thanks.

    • @alfredogonzalez8573
      @alfredogonzalez8573 Před 4 lety +1

      Jon Borrmann I know of that pickup but my gtr has a nunchucker I believe and my metal V has the blizzard which both are pretty high output with nice clarity. I too play in a death metal band and have used both (currently going to return to the studio to track guitars using the metal v) and they have sounded great! Maybe see if you can try one of those pickups? I think you can even install a standard pick up if you remove the original pickup from the slanted plate and install for example a Seymour Duncan on there and reinstall in your guitar. Never done that though so I don’t know how labor intensive that may be.

    This the "only" gent to show how Chords sound on a 7 string fanned fret Guitar ....every one else just plays
    chunk chung metal riffs ....Bravo for your versatility. also ...the design of the frets being straight up and down at the 12th fret is great for a 27 inch "E" fan layout and impressed the JOHNSTER.

    i've been playing an Ibanez multiscale 6 string for a couple of weeks now. it's great but i would have preferred an Ormsby for 1 main reason; the "straight" fret is at the 9th not the 12th. granted it's only been a couple of weeks playing MS but i "feel" like the vertical fret should be more towards the nut. i think Ormsby definitely got that right.

    • @ramjam6934
      @ramjam6934 Před 4 lety

      can you tell me what the deal is with multiscale. I am trying to understand if it makes playing easier or not. For example, what do you like about your Ibanez multiscale vs a Vai signature model. Thanks.

    • @Coles-bootleg-vids
      @Coles-bootleg-vids Před 4 lety

      @@ramjam6934 It helps with string tension and tuning stability, and in a way tone. You don't need to chuck a set of 70 gauge strings to stay stable in drop B with the fanned frets.

    • @TV_Offroad
      @TV_Offroad Před 3 lety

      I actually just traded an RGIG8 for a Goliath for this specific reason. On the ibanez’s the nut as at such an insane angle it makes it difficult to play. The ormsby? No issues with that.

    I've been kind of bored with strat shapes and black hardware lately, but that guitar is DEFINITELY something I'd buy right now if I could afford it. It's on my list. Plus I need a 7-string, and fanned frets might be fun to get used to.

      I have this guitar in a different color, Beto Blue, and you hit it on the head. The only negative I can tell you is that it's pretty bass heavy. I own a Schecter with Fishman Fluence, and when swapping out to this guitar, I needed to adjust my amp. Neck is a tad thick if you're used to a thin profile, but it's still very comfortable.
