- In this video I make a custom roof rack from some scrap steel I got from my local scrap yard. With a little bit of time and about 30$ you can build a custom roof rack that’s just as good as ones that cost a boat load of cash

Great vid.
Nice simple design. I like it and appreciate the lack of drama.
Great illustration bro👏🏾👏🏾 well done
Brilliant! Best and most informative video on building a roof rack. I'm now off to build a roof rack 👍🏻
Great job 👍. Just a suggestion get a table so your not on your knees. Looks awesome!
I liked the tip with the grinder to make those short pipes fit enough to weld. Came out great, I wanted to put a rack on my topper but I didn't think it was strong enough. Can't wait to see the front one.
Nicely done! Be makin one of these, rhanks
I dig it man, gonna make a rack for my Jeep, thanks for the video 🤙
Bro, you’re a beast. Awesomeness!!!
the 3 peices of wire is shelving for industrial storage racks. like at costco or sams club.
I like it that would look great on my home made camper
Very nice!
Cool.. Im so appreciate that..
looks good to me. very cool dude.
nice ill make one too, just finished welding my truck rack and wanna make a removable recessed basket that fits into the rack behind my back window to maintain the flush height of my lumber rack
Just saying... Guess you can tell which of your vids get the most views. I found your channel searching for homemade roof carriers. Sad to see no vids being posted for months. Thanks for this one. It helped.
Ya lol that video did great .. hopefully I’ll get back to making videos soon they are very time consuming to make.. glad to hear it helped someone 👍
I really like the name of your channel. I look forward to watching some more of your videos. great job on the build im looking for ideas because I want to build my own. Take care.
Very nice
Sweet!
👍👍
Looks good👍
Subscribed the moment I saw the name of the channel. It described me perfectly.
Lol thanks
Looks very profesional , make a few to sell bud, I’m sure people will buy!
Great job..
Nice build. I am not sure why you wouldn't want it directly on top of the original roof rack though, that would literally double it's strength. As it is it's only as strong as the conduit clamps, which is to say not very strong.
For all those who pay big bucks for a cargo basket.......ouch...Nice piece of work....looks factory...
simpel and nice :)
Excellent rack, just advise for more secure bond with the top, maybe u type brackets
Good job came out well
Thanks
Waiting for the Part 2!
Nice design. careful with that galvanized man
Hey Man great Build!!
It would be really helpfull if you could tell us the dimensions of your build, and the exact tube caliber !! Was it a heavy roof rack the end ?
Thank you very much
Thanks.. it was 3.5 ft x5.5 ft x 4 inch tall made of 3/4 inch emt conduit it’s pretty light weight but still plenty strong
Pure genius! Thank you! About how much did it weigh?
Well done bro, wish i could weld like u
Thanks. Get ya a cheap welder and just practice you’ll get the hang of it
When are you building the rack for the cab. My dad has a 1999 C3500 that’s been left to me. All original and I’m going to build it out. Thanks
I’m almost done with it I’ll have the video out soon
Thanks, I’m subscribed and liking the videos. My build will before camping and hauling my DJ equipment. Thanks again.
Seems like it would of been quicker to notch the small pipes instead of grinding them. But looks good either way.
😊🔥
Did you bend the corners or you bought elbows ?
I bent them with a conduit bender
Know where can I buy one of those respirators right now? Ha
Harbor freight
Hi ! Thank you for this great vidéo ! Do you think its possible to weld it with MMA welder ? I'm all new in that, and there so many differents informations on the topic! Thank you so much
I’m sure you could but it’ll be a little more difficult being that it’s thin gauge metal. It could be done tho
Thank you so much !
Cool
Thanks #1 fan
7:04 pre 1986 rotary housing and rotor! Love it!!!
Yep it’s off a 79 rx7 i found the missing nut I lost off the carburetor stuck in it lol
How did you bend the tubes without getting a kink in the inside radius.
I made an engine cage for my vw beach buggy using galvanized conduit. Looks pretty getto. Also I wasn't sure if the welds were very strong with all the galvanized contamination, even though I flap wheeled most of the coating off, the welds still bubbled.
Nice video 👍
I just used a conduit hand held bender it makes a pretty good bend. As far as welding it I didn’t have any problems with it bubbling up or anything.. it may not be the strongest thing in the world but it don’t have to hold much weight so it’ll probably be fine
Nice build what year and model roof rack system did you install on your topper? Trying to find one for my F250 topper thanks
It was off a 1997 Tahoe.. it may be a little long for a f250 but it can be cut down easily
Hey man, what are the thickness of those steel mattings?
1/4 inch
Im all for DIY i do alot of it, but you can buy better ones for $100 on amazon... not even worth the time to do this. But thats just me
I have heard you are supposed to drink milk after welding galvanized metal
very cool! is there any sag in the middle or that "chicken lathe" when you load it up? my concern would be the stress on the welds when theres a little weight in the middle of the rack.
A little sag if you put something heavy on it but is is still holding up fine
What diameter of tubes you used? 1/2"?
I believe it was 3/4”
@@brokenpoortradingco thanks man, ill have to make a trip to the metal shop
Let's see the basket for the cab!
It’s not done yet
Haven’t even started it yet lol
Music totally sucks at 7:00+.
Ik zou eerst maar leren lassen, ziet er niet uit !
