  • In this video, Kyle from www.chapmoto.com/ introduces the All New Motoz RallZ tire and discusses his experience on the Desert HT Tubeless tire on his KTM 1190 Adventure R and KTM 950 Super Enduro motorcycles.
    This is a great new tire which falls directly in between the well known Tractionator Adventure Tire (Average wear 4 to 6k miles) and the Tractionator Desert HT (Average wear 3 to 4k miles). Time will tell... is it the perfect tire? Will it wear like the Adventure and be nearly aggressive as the Desert HT? Let's go test it!

    This is the best tire review I have ever seen. Most tire reviews are not helpful at all because they are vague, completely lacking in all the specifics I want. Yours was full of specific, detailed information: 1. Detailed pics of each tire's tread, new and worn. 2. Detailed pics of the knobs with comparison of specific knob design and purpose. 3. Comparison measurement of space between knobs, which allows me to compare the tires you're reviewing as well as compare them to tires I already own. 4. Discussion of your personal experience running the tires.

      @@chaparralmotorsports I've been running the Desert H/T on my 690. Though it has good straight line hookup, when you tip it over a little on gravel tracks it feels pretty 'skaty' i.e. loses its bite. I put this Jekyll and Hyde character down to the close-ish spacing of the knobs on the shoulder of the tire. I was hoping the RallZ might be grippier on edge on loose surfaces than the Desert H/T, but from your review (and the principles you talk about), it seems like it won't?

    I have a 2016 Husqvarna 701 Enduro and have beaten the snot out of the Desert H/T - all while riding Baja, MX. They work very well in the Baja conditions. On a recent 600 mile loop, we made a last-minute decision and had to make up for some time which put us on the pavement for about four hours straight. They hum like a swarm of bees but gave me confidence while riding like a wild jackal through the twisties on the pavement. Just ordered the Rallz and headed to Baja on another multi-day loop. We plan on covering more ground than usual via pavement which is why I opted for the Rallz this trip. Will report back.
    By the way, I don’t know how these guys all get such high mileage from these tires. My rear tires are smoked at 1,000 miles easily. Just went through the Goldentyre GT723 rear (awesome tire!) in just over 850 miles. The 701 is also a rocket and tends to chew up tires given the fact the rear wheel is always spinning....and throwing baseball sized rocks at my buddies. Weapon of mass destruction I call it

      Thank you for your inquiry Charles. Many of the bikes that run these tires have tubeless rims, so a plug is all that is needed. For those running tube type tires, a Motion Pro BeadPro is a super helpful tool. Now, once the tires have been run for a bit, the sidewalls do become a little more pliable... but tools still make a huge difference. Making sure the opposite side bead is in the dropcenter of the wheel is key too... A couple on trail or in garage changes and most riders will gain confidence and efficiency. Hi I run the GPS on my triumph Tiger XCA, I believe that the GPS is a great combination both front and rear for us who commute more and still want to do of road on formed dirt roads, with the TC Off road engaged the rear tire grips really well, some have commented without the TC the rear tends to spin too much on the bigger bikes due to the center strip.

      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 5 lety +1

      @@Britishshooter Having ridden the ADV rear and Rallz rear on multiple machines, I feel the rears are really close. The fronts are VERY different. The Rallz is much more dirt inspiring, especially in the gravel /soft stuff. The 1190 Adv R is an amazing machine... but the 950se is my all time favorite bike. The 950se is just an oversized dirt bike. It can go nearly any place a 450 to 700 cc bike can go with not much more "rider input." The 1190 Adv R is super capable... but it does off road more like a Big BMW R1200 / R1250 then a smaller dirt bike, like the 950se feels. Different machines... thus the reason both are in the stable. Hope this clear as mud answer helps.... - Kyle

    Right now I have a set of Pirelli Scorpion Rally (non-STR) on my Africa Twin. While they work excellent in the sand and especially the front tire is fantastic, they are way to loud for my taste on pavement which can get a bit annoying after a while. I thought about the Desert HT tires, but the Rallz looks like it would be the better match for these kind of bikes.

    MotoZ Tractionator RallZ - Tubeless TRXQ 170/60-17 72 Q TL M+S
    MotoZ Tractionator RallZ - TubelessTRXQ 120/70-19 60 Q TL M+S
    et j'en suis vraiment très content ! ! !
    Les plus grosses différences ressenties par rapport aux pneus d'origine routier :
    La KTM est beaucoup plus haute qu'à l'origine (améliorant considérablement la garde au sol),
    et il faut - sur route - impérativement garder ses distances par rapport au véhicule qui vous précède./...,
    car en cas de freinage d'URGENCE les distances de freinage pour stopper la moto sont allongées du fait qu'il s'agit de pneus crampons, mais aussi des plus agressifs du catalogue MotoZ en ce qui concerne les pneus pour Trail's de grosse cylindrée !

      @@chaparralmotorsports I ride a very loaded down DRZ400. 39mm carb. About 75 pavement used. Some,rides with over 100 lbs of gear on board. 10,000 miles both sets I used. Just put on 3rd one. Never let me down. But yes, the front, now,we are,talking different. High speed corners gives out on side lugs. This is the reason you mix it,up. Use the Shinko front that looks almost the same...cant remember for sure,but think its a shinko,244. But much better side,grip on curvy pavement.

    I have an odd off road set-up.
    Which of the Motoz 21" front tires has the widest tread circumstance, the outside of knob on one side to the outside of the knob on the other side. I am running a wider rim than normal.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for your inquiry BullBars1. No, these Motoz RallZ tires are made to fit dirt oriented wheel sizes. Your SM being outfitted with 17" wheels front and rear will have a tough time finding tires to fit that are this aggressive. The TKC80 is made in your wheel sizes as is the Avon Trekrider and Trailrider tires. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

      Here is the front Tractionator Rallz on our website: www.chapmoto.com/motoz-tractionator-rallz-tube-type-front-tire.html
      The Rallz isn't offered in a 150/70-18 but is available in a 140/80-18

    What do you think, Desert HT or RallZ could better onto a 130 kg dirtbike using as trail bike?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 4 lety

      Great question Blase. I have used the Desert HT on my DRZ400, 450exc as well as my 950 Super Enduro. The Desert HT will be the most aggressive / longest lasting knobby DOT tire for your little bike. The RallZ tire will work... it will roll super smooth and last FOREVER on your light bike... but will be much heavier than the HT. There are trade-offs, but I personally would run the Desert HT. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

      Chaparral Motorsports, I’ve seen a chart where Desert H/T is in the sub-optimal range in terms of rolling on tarmac. What’s your experience? I have tarmac sections very often between off-road sections. But I really prefer good traction on dirt.

    How many miles are you getting on the Rallyz?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 4 lety

      I have run two sets now. One about 70% on road for the commute and the other 30% playing hard off road and that set I got 5K miles. The second set was nearly all off road mostly desert and jagged rocks. That set got just over 4k miles. Could have gone longer on the street... but the off-road life was spent. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
