I grew up as a young child listening to these artists.. I even sent JLP an email when I was 8 or so asking for advice as a young musician. He emailed back a long letter of encouragement. I haven't heard these artists in many years and hearing them is bringing tears to my eyes and a flood of energy to my heart. Thank you for this.

It almost sounds like piano here or there, if that's what you want from a guitar, I don't think I like it very much but I'm not really into Jazz.
Generally it seems to me that PRS' have a bit of a sterile sound.
But, if I like it or not, I have to admit that this sounds great and impressive here!
(after a while that drone is a bit unpleasant though)

The rapid figures at the end of JLP's solo at around 5:30 reminded me of McLaughlin's old pyrotechnics. I'm sure it's intentional. This video is just an artistic home run: visuals, sound quality and performance. Love to all who made this happen.

  • @thecapetownjazzscene2485

Stephane Grapelli [who I was privileged to see 3 times in concert in Cape Town] and Jean Luc have profoundly influenced my love for jazz on the violin. John M and Zakir are profoundly creative musicians. And to have this recorded in that Iconic venue in the vast, complex but beautiful Istanbul is just amazing.
