1,clarity
2, seperation
3, frequency response 💯💯
And price💸
My max budged, yeah these are quite a bit above it hahaha. One can dream though.
To know them in detail
Warren, what is the smallest room you really can use these speakers in? If you have a 12X12 room what would you recommend in the Focal line or any other line for that matter?
@@thembo18music Yes, articulation is another way of putting it. We're in the "three A" mode presently; Articulation, which we're pretty satisfied with in our other two A's in the equation (we use ATC and Amphion monitors, different but both useful, and have a desired articulation and non-fatiguing tweeters). These new Focals pique my interest though, now, with Warren's enthusiastic demonstration! Thanks, Warren!
Warren, I have to tell you, the first time I heard Green Mountain State, the entrance of the vocals really struck me. I think it's one if the greatest vocal mixes I have ever heard. I wasn't expecting how huge and clear they sounded.
CZcams link?
I listened to it on Spotify.
Thanks ever so much! It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve ever recorded
@@Producelikeapro absolutely
@@keithferris9574thanks ever so much
Focal Trio11 is the best studio monitor ever made imo.
Thanks for sharing
Agreed
been using my RCF line array as my new set of large mains, to me it’s immediately apparent if something isn’t sitting right in the Mix with them
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Loving my Solo6 BE's. Not fatiguing at all.
That's great to hear!
thank you mate - it feels like i've been hanging out with you at this studio - big up! i've got 1 speaker of Focal Alpha 80 Evo but thinking of getting 1 speaker of Focal Trio 6 - im sort of experimenting with that - thank you! im buying that for sure!
Nice! Important for us recording enthusiasts❤
Thanks Manny!
I have a pair of Focal´s Trio11 (as well as a pair of Dynaudio Core 47). I´m in love with the berylium tweeter. I really enjoy these studio monitors. Thanks for the review Warren.
Thanks for sharing!
how do you like the core 47's?
"Really, really tasty" says it all. Great work, Warren 👍🎵🎶🎼
Haha thanks ever so much
Warren, what is the smallest room you really can use these speakers in? If you have a 12X12 room what would you recommend in the Focal line or any other line for that matter?
That's a huge question! I would think 12x12 would work, definitely on the smaller side, however would work admirably!
@@Producelikeapro Thank you Warren
I suggest to everyone that if you want to be professional at mixing, i would avoid any speaker that is havily dsp-ed! Go for something small and passive for more accuracy! And get some big ones to reference !!
I bet these sound awesome but still just a bit out of my price range, for now. Love that shirt, Warren! 🤘
Understood! Not the cheapest at all of course!
I'm wondering if it's worth spending more on the Trio 11s for deeper bass for percussive electronic club music. Given the size difference surprising that there's only 5Hz in it on the low end specs. Would I even notice?
i think trio 6 is the option - surely 11th are much more louder but do you really need that
I'm still using a pair of Tannoy 605 Mk 1s.
If you know them well and get great results that is all that matters!
Great speakers. Not selling my Kali 3 way's, Cheers
Haha it's quite alright!
Thanks for the vid.
So you still prefer the 11 be over these sonically? My room is juuust big enough for the 11’s, but wondering if these might be a better option?
18:50 I really really love the enthusiasm, but I would have liked to hear the real mix here on my Kalis just to get a tad closer to the Focal sound :) the lav mic just translate it.... I know we can always use our imaginations... :)
Haha thanks for sharing that!
@@Producelikeapro thanks for being such a good sport Warren, I know I complain too much :P
Haha quite alright! @@realraven2000
Just saw your video now; I strongly urge you to upgrade the fuses to synergistic masters; you will find an unbelievable improvement in sound quality; I did this with my solo 6 s and could not believe the improvement ! I know very expensive, but worth every penny.
Mix breakdown of how to save a life would be amazing. Was it Mark?
Yes, Mark Endert!
When is the next master class
I'd prefer those ATC's...
Bien le bonjour de France je l'ai est commandé je suis impatient de les écouter cordialement Daniel
Wonderful monitors! How do you compare these to the Shape Twins that you had reviewed in the past?
I really like these!
Trio ST6 or SM9?
How are the new Trio6's compared to their previous, worth an upgrade?
20:32
@@cowabungaw9958 I did see this, what I was going for was a direct comparison since he's listend to both. I have the previous Trio6's and know them well, he's suggesting perhaps not an upgrade but it seems that there's something special about them, so I figured I'd ask him.
I didn't;t get to do a before and after unfortunately!@@BrianKRoss101 There was a lot of talk of them being the best of what they have out there
would these work well for a home audio two channel setup? if not, what might you recommend as I prefer studio monitors to most passive home audio gear
$7000 for the Focals? OR £1200 for my 3-way Kali In-5's and WS-6.2 Subwoofer which also has a foot switch to remove the sub. £5,500 difference? Would love to see you do a comparison Warren!
We do love Kali for the price! The Focal's are wonderful though!
Well.. I have the Kali IN-5's... Recently upgraded to DynAudio LXP8's. There is definitely a difference... Especially in the midrange. I prefer the DynAudio's... Unfortunately, can't justify Focal's price...
I wonder if there will be a new Trio 11 to match these?
Hmm great question!
Greetings Warren, I hope you are doing marvelously well. I am curious, 2 years ago it looked like you updated to trusty Genelec's to the Genelec 8351B which are amazing speakers. But at 1:33 in this video you mentioned that you have Trio 11's. I know it is all about personal preference once you get to his level, and both the Genelec and Focal's are excellent speakers. Do you still have the Genelec 8351B in your studio or did you go to the Trio 11's?
As a background to this question, I am upgrading my Focal Twin speakers, and I find the brand you are most familiar with where your mixes came out very good; we can tend to like staying with the family sound as we can adjust to them easier. I have tried ATC SCM 25a's and will be also checking out the new Trio 6's to possibly to replace my Focal Twins. Thank you
I have had the original trios for 5 years and it was a huge upgrade to me even from Twins… Unfortunately I live in place(country) in which I can not have the chance of listening to these and compare to my original trios. How would you compare these to the original trios? And would you upgrade from the originals to these new ones if you already had trios 6?, maestro? (I have a treated room and my speakers are fine tuned by Sonaworks)
I would think it would not be so difficult to set up a pair of Line Audio CM4 mics for the monitor reviews. They are not expensive mics but have a flat response. How about it Warren? 😂
Notification gang✌️
Hello! Thanks
Warren, I am in love with the focal tria6 but my room is very small 10x12 . What would you recommend in the Focal pro line twin 6 will be ok or solo6 ?
I just purchased Genelec 8351B i dont know if i made mistake focal trio or the genelec .💀🤕
That’s a tough question! They are very different sounding speakers! I own both
Just wondering if that's a Neve console Warren's using ?
Hi Aubrey!
Yes, it's a Rupert Neve console!
I’m really interested in the smaller Solo6 ST6 for a home studio. Have you had any experience with these?
I would have to try them out for a while to truly know! These speakers I tracked and mixed on during the MasterClass!
@@Producelikeapro Thanks. I'm hoping to get a pair here along with Neumann KH120's to compare. Have you had any experience with any other the Neumann monitors?
I have them. They are fantastic. Right now they sound better than my Neumann kh310 which are 2,000 more for the pair but that's also because it's almost essential to run a sub with them to avoid them sounding stuffed up and I won't have the sub for a another few weeks They don't have huge bass as they are small speakers, but they midrange and treble are great.
Hello, I m sure focal sounds good (i used the focal solo 6 first gen for 15years) but do they translate well outside the studio?
What do you currently have that translates well outside of the 4 walls?
@@jcpugaamphion one 18, not as fun as my previous focal solo 6, but more predictible and a bit less sensitive to the room
@@ardierr.2525 Thank you, will look into them 👀
I find them VERY balanced and accurate. If you like older midrange forward speakers then you want like them, they are far flatter, however the extended low end is remarkable for their size!
Greetings from India....though different price points but could you do a comparison, as per your perspective, between these focals and Adam audio A8H. Thanks a lot for being an inspiration for me for the past 8 years of my studio journey
Is there any reason to think that Beryllium would make an effective mild laxative, much like Psyllium does, based purely on it's sound alike characteristics.
How do you think these compare with the Atc sound?
Are these run through a Trinnov or some other room correction software/hardware?
Warren were they pre burned in before you got them ? Trying to decide if to get the Trio 6 or the Trio 11 for my Atmos room which is made up off St 6 and Twin 6
I'm using Focal speakers and headphones for 10 years and they produce great audio equipment. However, with a price of 7k this gets somewhat close to the price of the Kii Three speakers. Warren, did you ever listen to those? If yes, how do they compare to the Focals?
A Kii Three is $7k each, while a pair of these is ~$7k
@@justlooking813 True, but when I'm mad enough to spend 7k I might as well spent twice 😝
@@Daniel-sCZcams Buy me a set while you're at it.
@@justlooking813 True, at this point spending 14k or 28k doesn't make a difference at all 😄
At 7K I'm taking back my 'like' thumbs up. LOL
Haha they are certainly NOT cheap! However, they do sound amazing
11:32 "...the dust..." What about the dust? 😨
Why is 3 way soooo expensive compare to 2 way?
Little empire; Snare is to hot, gak. Female voice is drowning. 1st track you played. and I heard it over your mic and bluetooth headphones before you said it. I feel good about my ears now.
Thanks ever so much Matt for sharing!
🎉🎉🎉
Marvellous!
😊
Thanks ever so much!
I'm sorry to say this, Warren, but Focal won't send you these monitors for free because they are aware that you can afford to purchase them and pay for them from your own pocket.😆
Haha unfortunately I don’t have $7k spare at the moment! Haha plus I have a pair of Trio 11’s already!!
Careful, do not buy Focal!! If they work, they are ok, but if you have to repair one, as in my case (Focal Solo 6, after 2.5 years only), it will cost you a fortune, nearly as much as the speaker itself (they are equipped with special and sophisticated drivers).
Focal customer service on their headphones is terrible as well. Their headband design on Elear/Clear/Elex is flawed and prone to snapping. Snapped headband isn’t covered by warranty and replacement cost more than half the price of the headphones.
Hi Marcell, please email me at warren@producelikeapro.com so we can get to the bottom of this!
Hi Marcell, following up with you on this.
Imagine the speakers you can have someone build you for $7,000
Compared to a premade
Do you know someone who design some speakers from scratch and acoustically test them for performance for the same price? Thanks!
It´s pretty senseless to make a video, where you hear speakers over the mikrophon that he talks through, and in the end you hear the sound over your speakers, kitchen radio, headphone, mobile phone or whatever.....
I think the important thing is what he's saying about them, not what you are hearing through his Lav mic
This has become an awful marketing and sales pitch channel... This is certainly not what they call a review (to review speakers over youtube is just terrible anyway, let alone listening through his mic). Naaaah
@@bigjules5139 Agreed.
That's why they specify it when you hear them.
Even though you would record them with a pair of Earthworks M23r's into an RME or a Merging interface, you would hear through your own speakers and that's pretty useless.
Focus on what he's saying about them.
Most importantly, go to hear them at your local music shop.
This applies to pretty much every piece of audio gear hardware reviewed or otherwise discussed on CZcams. Obviously you need to hear it in person to form a fully informed opinion. Personally, I really like hearing someone like Warren’s thoughts before I spend time, money and fuel to audition gear (if that’s even possible as I live in nowheresville).
So as you seem to be in the know - what would your recommendation be to present new gear to the world??
I think it´s not true, that this applies to pretty much every piece of audio equipment. When I compare recordings of different microphones, preamps, guitar amps whatever, the signalchain makes sense, when I sit in my studio and listen through my speakers, but speaker listened to through speakers is nonsens. Some channels try to give a better impression by using those mikrophones, that look like a head, but still, it´s pretty weak.@@lonnyhandwork422
What are the make of other two couples of monitors present?
Ocean way & ATC
Model (s)
Eek! I'd have to just google the models! The ATC were $30k I believe and the Ocean Way's were similarly priced.@@TheRockerxx69
