Thank you for the informative videos. I just ordered one and am learning as much as I can about it before I even get it. I did buy a cheaper drone that didn't have fpv. I got what I paid for. It quit responding to the transmitter on the first flight and crashed. I got a refund and started searching for something else. The Chroma kept coming up. I had it narrowed down to the Chroma and 1 other model. The Chroma won because I just am not comfortable trusting an expensive drone to the likes of a cell phone or tablet. The radio that comes wit the Chroma looks and sound awesome. I wasn't sure I was ready for fpv but after researching the Chroma, I am confident that if I take my time I should be able to master it in a short while. I do fly quads and own a few but this will be my first gps/fpv.
Very informative vid Justin, one question when I get my 4k version, do I have to update it right of the bat, or can I start flying it?

It would be nice if you guys did an actual flight comparison between the chroma and phantom 3.
Very helpful. Trying to decide between the Chroma 1080p and the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. I like the idea of the light bridge on the DJI, the distance, but I like the landing stability and extra distance from the ground that the Chroma gimbal has and having the video screen integrated into the contoller.

I think the drone itself and the remote and the features are totally awesome. However I have not been able to get the GUI program to upload to three different computers. which program of a computer would you recommend for completion of uploading your firmware.
I have a Chroma with the CGO3 4k camera. My GUI only gives me the CGO2 or GoPro cameras as options to calibrate. Is there an even later version GUI than 1.0? I can't find it even on updates.
I have a dx8 and would like to know the best way to get the best program with the chroma
Thanks for the video. I have inserted a MicroSD card into my ST10+ transmitter. The telemetry info. are recorded onto my MicroSD card into the transmitter ( excel files with colums infos ). How can i translate these infos so i can see them graphically or interprete them ?

im having trouble getting the device drivers to install on my pc. if i can get the device drivers to install successfully I'm pretty sure it'll work.
I have the 4K Version and it didn't show up on Calibration, Gimbal Type Selection only see GB200 and CGO2GB any idea. I also have Firware Version: 1.01 Dated in June 8, 2015 is that the latest Firmware? Thanks

Hello Justin, Do you have any idea as to why my Blade Chroma with 1080p camera (stock) and YUNEEC (ST10+) has been acting up since the Firmware update? My chroma has been flying flawlessly before the update. As of now the YAW is either unresponsive or has a ratio of about 25-50% out of 100% when the stick is moved. I have tried to complete a ST10+ calibration and the J2 and J4 do not calibrate at all. I get some response from time to time when the drone is flying, but calibration shows a fail. I hope this is making sense to you. I am a novice flyer so my drone lingo is not the greatest, sorry. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, Is there a way to downgrade back to the old firmware since there were no issues than. Should I try to rebind the Chroma? If so, How? If not, any ideas? Thank You, Best Regards, Jay
I already changed my settings using the Blade 350 QX3 GUI.....seems to work just fine....did I see over 3000 feet hight on your Video? thats really high......seems like it may fly away at that distance , also if you go over 600 feet or so horizontally . another thing..... My 350 seems to be more stable than my Chroma....but then maybe the Chroma will calm down in turtle mode.... I have to try that....Otherwise its a good ship.
updated to the 1.02 firmware. lost all telemetry? any ideas
wonder why im getting a warning saying Cant connect to any available ports. Try re-installing filmware. Does this process work for windows 10?

I'm having the same problem. I successfully downloaded GUI to my hp notebook, but when I connected up my Chroma, the GUI said it didn't recognise the port. It suggested I reload the software and looked for USB drivers. I did all that and it still wont recognise my Chroma. I tried to download GUI to my Mac, but all I got was a print of the programing! Reams of it!!! My last hope was my desktop, Again it failed to download. I's there a compatibility problem with Windows 10? I tried different USB cables and that didn't work ether. I've checked and rechecked the above video to make sure I' doing it right, but I've failed miserably! Any advice would be much appreciated. Morgi

says 300-400 metres for vid signal, more can be achieved with upgrades

I know this is unrelated to the topic in the video. but i cant get my video footage to play ??. i don't know if its a record problem or player problem. Well should i say play fluidly as it is it only moves when i have my finger on the cursor. And even then its jarring.

my biggest problem is I can't get the GUI to work properly it has been installed properly it just will not talk to my doctor Horizon Hobby says it's an install problem and won't walk me through it even after I wait an hour for them to call me back help

Along with taking off the props before you fire up the Chroma, you should remove the gimbal guard. That's easy to forget when you're not booting up to fly.

Hey Justin. I've been following a lot of your videos on the blade Chroma and I now am a proud owner of one with the CG03. one problem I am having is that I just can't for the life of me get this thing to connect to a computer. 1. I have to slide the gimble forward because the housing will not allow me to connect the usb cable - no big deal I just slide it up far enough but not too far that the camera falls off. I then connect the cable and for some odd reason windows will just not pull down the correct driver. device manager sees it as HHobby USB 380QX.First computer I tried it on was my surface pro3 running windows 10 but then found out that it is not supported and will not work. I then tried two other PCs running windows 7 and a no go and finally gave it a try with my 2008 R2 Server and the same results. is there a manual driver I can download and force it ? I didn't give FTD3XXDriver_WHQLCertified_v1.1.0.0 a try and windows does not pick it up as a driver. I would like to be able to move the Geo Fence and check my firmware ver. and have been unsuccessful. .any ideas on what else I can try?Oh I call HH and the guy blamed it on my computer and dismissed me. :(

In exploring FPV for the Chroma, I have discovered the stock Tx antenna on the CGO_3 (and CGO_2) is a skew planar type which is polarized and Yuneec is using a Lefthand pattern vs the rest of the modern planet's choice of Right handed. So, if you are interested in doing anything with the FPV 5.8ghz video downlink, the first thing to do is replace the Left handed Tx antenna with a Right handed one, which opens the door for a LOT more modification possibilities. I have done a lot of testing (some disappointing) on different setups to get the maximum range out of both the video downlink and the 2.4 ghz radio control. Before = 800-1,200' After = 8,126 (max range in Smart or AP modes) and >10,000' in Agility mode. This is flying from my back yard in an urban/suburban environment. St10+ with Sunhans 3watt 5.8ghz booster>Circular Wireless Helical Rx & 2x Sunhans 2watt 2.4ghz RxTx RC boosters>Alfa Networks hi-gain antennas. Chroma uses 2x relocated 5.8 ghz Tx> 1 Sunhans Tx & 1 Anbee Clover

I have a Windows 10, windows 7, and a MAc...and I cannot get this GUI to work on any of them.W-10- I get an error...can't find a com port...I heard W-10 might have some issuesW-7 - No errors...it just does not connect. I notice you turn on your transmitter then wait for it to boot up. When I turn on mine, it does not boot up completely because it is looking for the wifi signal from the quad...which is not turned on yet. I turn it on and still no connect.On the MAc...the icon bounces around on the Dock...but does not open....help !
+Gary Boyle - Tacomaboy Try a new USB cable. Sometimes its just the cable. Make sure you turn on the radio and quad. Then plug the cable in. Sounds like your mac probably needs to be updated possibly.

Could I trouble you with one last question ?
Before I purchased my Chroma, I read nothing about a flyaway problem. Now that I own one, that is all I am hearing about. Apparently some Chromas loses gps signal, and all contact with the drone, so no commands bring it home. It can't all be pilot error.
You guys are the experts.....is there a problem here?

What is the better of the two, the Chroma 4K CG03 BLH8675 or the Chroma 1080 CG02 BLH8665?

+EpaVision Productions © I'll just assume you mean "can I use the chroma GUI on windows 10". Go here, install it on a windows 10 machine even if you don't have a chroma yet and see if it loads. It should work fine but I'm still on Windows 7 myself.

None of this seems to work on Windows 10. My Chroma seems to locked into 410 feet max. Bummer.
+tx2sturgis that's what the chroma comes preset to for a max altitude. if you want to change it you need to install and use the GUI from here www.horizonhobby.com/media/chroma/support.html but if you're in the US then you may have the FAA on you if you fly higher than 400 ft
+Mike D. Read my post again. None of this works on Windows 10. The driver is not compatible as of a few weeks ago, I havent checked lately because I was able to load the GUI and drivers on a friends windows 8 computer and reset the limits. I flew it to 1600 feet and it was fine.
