Neewer F500 Field Monitor Major Firmware Updates!
czcams.com/video/DxOcCjziXl4/video.html
Hi there. How did you switch focus points with this ? I’m using single point AF but ofcourse with monitor on my R6, I don’t have access to my LCD to switch between AF points quickly. Is there a fix for this ?
The monitor doesn't switch autofocus points. the camera does, i was manually focusing and I have 2 cameras. If you own this camera i am using X-S20 i have a video review, my first review I show tips on how to set focus points.
Hi! How did Neewer fix the issue where your screen goes black for a few seconds? I am facing the same issue on mine.
firmware update the monitor. If you still have the issue with firmware 2.17 than locate Neewer on facebook and message them. Tech support can speak to you from there.
This is my new video on this monitor showing what it can do and showing some of the updates and fixes the new firmware brings with it like auto power off.
czcams.com/video/DxOcCjziXl4/video.html
I just received this this morning. How did you get your monitor to show the settings from your camera?
The setting to get the settings from my camera showing is on the camera itself. In the case of Fujifilm cameras the setting is called ""HDMI OUTPUT SETTING. in that menu I turn on the "HDMI OUTPUT INFO DISPLAY". I can re-add or remove part of the info with a small button physically on the backside of the camera called "DISP BACK"
How are you finding the monitor? Which camera are you using it with?
Ordered before watching this video. Hopefully that always on red light can be fixed in firmware but doubt it. Planning on using this with a battery attached to a cage.
@@sdhute I asked and the answer was "NO". I use an NPF battery plate with an off switch. I power both the Monitor and the camera from the same NPF plate :). With the Neewer Battery that has USB ports the it powers the monitor off after about 30 seconds when connected to the USB A port. I review that NPF battery here:

@@sdhute How are you finding the monitor?
I am working directly with a Neewer Support engineer they confirmed with the red light the draw is so low the included battery should last a month.
Ther new Firmware likely by the end of the week, I might get it first before public release just like the version I have shown in this review (it only improved LUT support). I did pay for this product and do not work with Neewer as a reviewer. I was referred to help communicate issues that were beyond regular technical support.
Fixes are for the issue random blank screen increase camera support. Suggested lut switch to be saved after power off for lut to remain without switching on each time. (at least I expressed that part for improvement). If I get the new firmware first if you want it can add me on discord or Facebook links listed in my video description and simply follow and if you write I can see your message. At the very least can notify you at release
Mine doesn't play sound when I am reviewing footage from my a6600.
Might be an HDMI setting on the camera? Mine works when I connect my headphones
Hey SparkE, i just received my F500. I cannot get it to see a 4k signal at all. It works fine in 1080, no issues at all. When i switch to any 4k recording option it just says no signal. Im using a Lumix S5iiX and im trying to record in 4k/10L 23.98p.
Thank you for your comment. Make sure to read my pinned comment. As for the highest 4K mode at 23.98P another update is coming out to fix that on your specific camera. Neewer fixed all my compatibility issues and changed settings I asked for like making LUT stay loaded and on after power off. In this video I show a problem with my camera at one point... I like to add negatives I find and issues.
@@sparkestudio thanks for the reply. I can’t get either of my computers to recognize it in the neewer firmware update software in order to update. May just have to return this.
@@Buford_T_Justice_ you have to use WinRAR or something to extract the firmware file once you download it from the Internet. Next the file should be copied to SD card formated to FAT32. Once the file format of the SD card is in FAT 32 not exfat (camera usually formats to FAT32) erase all files on the SD card with only the update file. Insert the card into the monitor. Power on the monitor and it automatically updates and takes only about 15 seconds and is done red light flashes red and orange till completed.
I Never attempted to use Neewer windows update software... what is the point when the SD card not USB is what updates this device... Don't even know if it is possible to update using USB???
@@sparkestudio ah so the USB port is for power only, no data transfer? That’s good to know.
@@Buford_T_Justice_ if there is any data it is something USB I don't know about. I sometimes use the USB port to power the monitor as an alternative option and not use the NPF battery. I can use a charger, a battery bank with USB or whatever. Right now I am using the 12volt barrel connector from my NPF plate to power my monitor... My NPF plate has a power on and off button which works with the other barrel connector to my camera dummy battery. Yes I have an awesome setup ;). And the NPF plate I am using now has battery level lights and a USB power delivery port for charging my connected NPF battery.
Quick question : can you use it with a smartphone?
Might be possible if your phone supports
HDMI Alt Mode and have the appropriate USB to HDMI cable . If you can use your Smart phone to a TV HDMI without that special multi media link.
Just received mine however it’s flashing on and off. I’m using a Panasonic Lumix s5ii. Recharging the battery to see if that resolves the issue . I didn’t remember seeing a battery indicator on the monitor
Flashing on and off in 4k like I show to black screen and back at the one short scene in this video that happens occasionally? If the same issue as me the fix is going to be out by the end of this week according to tech support. I've been communicating directly with the head of the programming support person that is good in English. They rented my camera "twice" to repeat my issue. Sent full length video and settings.
@@sparkestudio Yes it appears to be the same issue every 5 seconds or so it appears to lose connection. The light goes from green to red and then I see there is not a siginal.
@@sdhute Your situation is far worse... for me it's like once every 5 minutes for like 3 seconds. Mine shows for a split second the resolution goes to 7120 x 2160 when it goes plank. If I use the HDMI at 1080P with the camera in 4K I have no issues at all. If the fix isn't posted but is sent direct I can let you know and send for you to test if I get it first. I could send via Discord or Facebook... Links in my video description... and is free to chat or message.
@@sparkestudio keep me posted I contacted neewer earlier today. Not sure if I should keep this or try the viltrox dc550
@@sparkestudio I've been impressed with their support. I was just emailed v2.15 to test with. The also provided a video of a S5mII with that firmware not flashing. Going to update it when I get back from starbucks lol.
One thing I noticed is that if you leave camera HUD on and you use focus peak it will select also the hud.. I don't know if it's a general issue of all monitors or just of this one
I have to make a correction... It focus peak on the camera HDMI out display NOT on its HUD display.
Monitor is awesome now and I explain this in the new video with updates
czcams.com/video/DxOcCjziXl4/video.html
it's compatible with Sony alpha 6400 u know?
Shouldn't be a problem for displaying up to 4K 30 frames. There are no other compatibility issues I know of since my camera and Panasonic camera have fixes. Least compatible are Panasonic cameras... This is the old review, I have an updated review with firmware fixes.
ok, thank u! vibes@@sparkestudio
