I thought the s6 would be close to the f6, but geez, the f6 looks like a completely different class of camera and hands down superior. After further research, this is the only video I’m seeing so much noise difference between the S6 and the F6. Is there something you may have forgotten to mention that could explain it? Or maybe it’s a flaw in that specific unit?
How do we set the camera F6 for C4K 60fps NO CROP? Do we disable CROP in the image settings ? What ProRes can we use? Or is it just H265 when trying to get this ?
Thank you for the work you put into these reviews. It helps alot for us that is considering buying this camera. I think Z CAM will be really happy getting this thorough coverage for their product. Great thing that they decided to replace those mushy rubber buttons. One thing that I missed is more slow motion samples and how well the quality holds up in these high frame rate modes particular in 4k 120fps (which is kind of unique at this price point) and the 170 fps. And maybe how well it handles moire. But I understand that would have made it long past a 40 min video and this review still surpassed my expectations 😄 I hope they start shipping out these to resellers in Sweden soon!
Fantastic stuff, keep up the great work! I’m stuck in between choosing the E2 and the S6 35mm cams. I know the pixel count and dynamic range is a little higher in the S6. If I got the E2 with metabones, do you think it still a makes a big difference in footage quality?
came here for the z cams, stayed for the excellent color grading knowledge. Did you do a course or just trial and error? Any educational materials you can recommend? Subscribed.
We are debating between the F6 and BMD Ursa Mini Pro 4.7K G2 We are editing with DaVinci Resolve so I would assume the BRAW would be a big plus on the UMP G2 but what do you think about the picture quality comparisons and Frame Rates and resolution options in comparison with the F6?
I actually just made this decision lol! I ended up going with the ZCam F6 for a few reasons. Most of it came down to versatility though. I really enjoy the image out of both cameras, but the F6 is just more versatile in terms of rigging potential. I also am a sucker for the large format look. I use medium format glass and can even speedboost up to something like VistaVision. It's all personal preference, but I've done enough research that I can answer any questions.
Nice video! I had a question about the ZCAM F6. Does this camera shifts the dynamic range depending on the selected ISO? For instance, the P6K when set to ISO 100 allocates about 9.5 stops out of the 13 Stops to the shadows so you will clip the highlights easier since you only have about 3 stops for the highlights. The higher you set the iso the more stops you gain in the highlights. Is this the same case with the ZCAM?
Great review. Do you know if the HDMI out is uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2? I’m guessing max frame rate is 60p. Also, is there a crop with HDMI out, or is it full readout downsampled to 4K?
Hi there, really appreciate the detailed review you've been making on the Zcam series. One question on image quality: do you find noticeable differences between the 10bit from the F6 and the 12bit BRAW from the BMPCC6K? Not trying to start a war, I'm genuinely considering these 2 cameras. Thanks in advance.
On the frame rates chart it said that HD was "always supersampled", so there is no crop when the camera shoots in 1920 x 1080 resolution? I would also like to see some clips of FHD footage.
Hello Mr Flannel, just curious to know where the image of the electronic E-mount at 21:26 originated from? Do you know what company its developing that E-mount?
Flannel Ninja Ahh right. I thought it was E-mount based on your voice over for that bit. Nevertheless do you know who the third party E-mount developer is?
I am waiting to see images off these cameras that knocks me on my ass.. Sometimes it seems overly sharp, over exposed, or just generally kinda boring. Kinda Camcorder like. Could be the grade. Love the physical of these cameras, but I'm still not sold on the image. I WANT to like these cameras and expected big things from the FF6k.. A bit disappointed. Thanks for the video.
I dont get what this camera has over over the bmpcc 6k except for the FF sensor, form factor, a little more dynamic (which i would love to see an actual test of show what portion is actually usable). ZRAW is atrocious and far less supported than BRAW and the frame rate choices are worse except at 4k. Im legitimately curious why people think this is a better buy at more than twice the price...
@@FlannelNinjaTech Lastly I really want to pull the trigger on the F6 but still am uncertain as so far you are the only person I can find running tests on this camera. And I am liking my Black Magic and although I have test used BRAW I have yet to use it professionally. I have found Pro Res HQ or 422 has been great with the setting black magic offers. That being said I am a huge fan and patriot for H.265 and have been behind it even at the start with all the skeptics. So having that in the Z cam is something I am really interested in. What would you say to someone like me who's on the fence and would like FF and possibly switching over ecosystems. Thank you again.
I hate that the eND is always working - Sony does that the best with the physical ND's that go from 0 and up. If you want to be wide open or shooting at night you have to remove that and put in the clear one - also wondering why any glass at all? why is it standard to have a piece of glass there instead just 'air'? otherwise I'm loving all things z cam
I suspect that Z CAM may add physically moving ND filters in their E3 generation of cameras. I have no insider knowledge, but that would be a great addition. Besides the handful of Sony cameras that can do this, there is the Canon C70 and BMPCC6K Pro that also have physically moving ND filters with a 0 stop option. I'm guessing it's not an easy thing to engineer. Even RED announced an ND system like the eND for their new RAPTOR camera, where you have to remove the ND and replace it with a clear filter. The eND has to be replaced with a clear piece of glass to maintain the correct focal distance. Without it the backfocus might be off.
They got to have SDI out, Aux 12v out is useless, if there is DC power environment then there will be plenty of way power the accessory, why don't they replace the space with SDI out.
I think you'll find better performance in noise reduction of resolve if you de-link spacial threshold and add a little bit of chroma noise reduction in addition to the small amount of temporal you already added. I usually do around 6.8. It works wonders. :)
Flannel Ninja I mean to say which is better in terms of quality zcam says that they offer 8k and cheaper than red so I am checking some videos CZcams zcam Vs red which is worth it I can save money
At 15:09 you compare noise levels. Noise is obviously going to be much greater at iso 51k than 25k. So clearly the E2-F6 is going to be cleaner. Really I don't understand this comparison of noise by adjusting iso to match luminance values vs say an ND filter or f-stop control. Enlighten me, because I really want to understand this choice when obviously noise increases massively when going that high in iso. Thanks
Really wanted one of these, it's as impressive as I expected
Thanks for the great review. I know how much effort goes into reviews such as this and I am extremely grateful for this. Thank you!
Hey man thanks for making these videos. You were instrumental in me picking up the E2-F6. Get's here in a few weeks!
Great insight. Been debating BM and ZCAM for a few months. ZCAM appears to be the winner.
appreciate the review! haven't found many good F6 reviews
- and just saw you have some comparison videos too. nice!
Thanks very much for this really useful comparison. I've been wavering between the S6 and F6, and the noise difference helps swing things ;-)

@Route Co. Creative pre-orders would begin being sent out in late october
Only shooting in H.265 or available also in ProRes?
I am trying to understand if I can shoot 100% ProRes 6k or 4K 60 frame no crop

Finally i pre order this camera. In the UK is so much more expensive than US or Canada. Nice video
I would like z-cam still congratulate the z-cam e2 S6 F6 F8 will certainly use in my work.
However, I soon hope to have several mounts.

I'd love to see (when and if you have a chance...) the quality of the in-camera HD scaled footage.
Cheers!
Loved the depth of this review. Are we going to get a review of the e2-f8?
Impressive specs for the Price to be honest. Guessing F8 review coming soon? Damn the F8 price and specs seem baller too.

I’ve learned a little bit from various CZcams videos. Qazi is pretty good even though he sounds like a used car salesman. Juan Melara is a pro

F6 is only 11" in front of the s6 sensor isnt that big a deal.
Awesome review, once again! Any idea when this is shipping? B&H didn't know as of yesterday.
And pre-orders are being received now
Love to see a rolling shutter and DR comparison between E2/F6/S6?
Great Video, can you record 6k in ZRaw?
How is the battery life?
Grear review. Thanks. I was wondering, which would you reccomend now the S6 or the f6? Thanks!

Great review :) Thanks
Any chance you could make a DR comparison between E2, E2-S6 an E2-F6? Pretty please? ;)
WOW. Amazing video
Mark, what lenses have you been using/tried out on the F6 so far?
thank you so much for this review.
nice review. could you do some dr test ? i am still not sure about the highlight rolloff
How do you find the image when panning fast, no tests online of this, one I saw seemed jumpy, but the operator also seem a bit meh.
Would be interesting to compare FOV for E2+speedbooster to the F6 native EF mount - same lens.

How come this camera fakes and softens all the detail below middle gray? Do you shoot in "raw"?
do it ever just cut off on you while recording?
So Z-RAW is only available with lower megapixels ? Will Z-RAW come to 6k no crop ?
are you using auto zoom in these shots?
