It's amazing to me that most people wouldn't ever even consider tackling this job on their own. I always want to learn how things work and why they stop working. Sure, saving money is nice too but I mostly just don't want to have to depend on someone else if something fails on my vehicle.
@benmac940 My thoughts too , until recently, especially young folk, they will not even open the bonnet, (Hood) they happily pay 2 months wages to have a repair sooner than lift the (hood)😢😢 I still do my car at 84
Nothing at all wrong with wanting learn, that's part of what makes your channel good as far as I'm concerned, your willingness to take on the unknown. Hope that didn't sound too cheesy lol. Have a good one.👍🏻
Do yourself a favor just put some trans fluid or mineral spirits in. Air line. Alcohol in winter. Condensation builds up inside. Fan clutch sSave yourself a lot of work Let me know if you can find a cheap Working man lift. You work yer A- off 💪😎👍🏁🏆
Huge thanks for putting out content because most of my other subscriptions are either stopping ✋️ posting or like A.C. doing maybe 1 video a month. Once again many thanks.
Yo man any content you drop is great content no matter how short or long..I look forward to whatever you bring..good to see the positive result of a project once again..
enjoyed the shorter video, thougyh I love the longer ones🙂. Great that you, for now anyway, have gotten the fan cluch going again and working, YEAH!! ONce again Noah is hanging out watching Dad🙂, always great to see both Noah and Aiden around and wanting to learn what your doing, along with Wanting to get involved as well. God continue to bless you all.

I love learning from you all the time… by the way saw the tin on the ceiling in the man cave, hope that’s in one of the videos are you gonna spray in insulation after you get the tin hung….. make sure you make a mention of that please,,, and I think you should put OSB on the last 4 feet up off the floor just in case the kids run into it with your bicycle,,, or you drop a shop jack against it,,,,, if it’s drywall you’ll be patching up the rest your life just one of my suggestions your buddy east of the Hudson samuel bacon
Hello Jesse. You did well giving yourself some outs by saying "maybe" and trying it out. The money you saved paid for the alignment and some really nice meals out or another tool or two. It always helps to be positive about just about anything. Have good days!
Nice fix! I imagine that everything takes longer and made a little more complex when getting camera angles and recording. It has got to be so nice to work on that concrete with a roof over your head.
Great video as always Jesse! I can confirm from experience that corrosion on clutch surface will definitely create some very strange symptoms, including a lot of DRAG. Cause the clutch material will not be able to slip very easily over a pitted surface. I've had this on a motorcycle clutch that would not release easily and drag a TON until it warmed up. And it was all due to just a little bit of pitting on the steel discs.
Thanks for sharing. Hope you get your truck inspection. Keep the videos coming. Looking forward to the next one. Blessings, have a good week. Stay safe, healthy, discerning and successful in His Holy Name. ☝🙏🙌💪
Aw, Jesse! You didn't load up an excavator for a demo? How disappointing! Nah! good video. I never understood fan clutches either, but I have a better idea--not that I'll ever use it lol!
Do yourself a favor put some trans fluid in airline or mineral spirits Alcohol in winter condensation causes them to stick. You work hard 💪😎👍🏁🏆 let me know if you are selling any man lifts
Good video! Water in your air system causes a LOT of problems over time. Do you drain the tanks regularly? Is there a dryer in the system? I guessed the fan clutch was $4-500: boy was I wrong.
Just started to watch...first thought, ac switch, the green one with the end like a tyre valve, and 2 wires coming out. If it fails, it will cause the fan to lock in. ..just a thought? Arr,you can get an overhaul kit for the B&W.
Fan is stuck engaged because the rust has seized it. Usually whack the aluminum with a punch and it unlocks. Horton fans were the worst for this if a truck is not used often.
Great fix Jesse. I know zip about trucks but thinking out loud, is there a water separator or something similar in the air storage system on these trucks? That level of corrosion in that clutch needs water to kick it off. Maybe check if the system to separate water in the air lines needs a kittle attention to prevent it coming back again :)
People don't realize how much power those mechanical fans take away from engine You could even dump the mechanical fan and replace it with an ELECTRICAL fan which requires no engine power and no fan clutch maintenance !
Jesse, If it doesn't work out, they have a rebuild kit for those fan clutches. Ihave rebuilt a few over the years. What was the oring , on the ruted shaft like? Anyway best of luck with it. I had a road call to help out a coworker who dropped the fanclutch when he was removing one that was totally worn out. It let the fan hit the radiator.
hola Jesse - is the banding in the video from the new LED lights or some sort of camera change? It was pretty obvious when you were working on the yellow lid on the work bench
You probably could add an electric temperature sensor like they use for an electric radiator fan on a car instead of the switch you added to turn the fan on and off automatically.
@@jmuller86 Jesse at 3:28 did I misunderstand or you will soon go get another machine and if that's the case I can't wait to find out what this machine will be that requires your semi-trailer to transport it so are you talking about a hypothetical future long trip or was it a little teaser more or less voluntary?

Maybe most people where you are. Pretty much everyone I know would atleast attempt it themselves first
He has the space and time to work on a truck this large. Most people don't.

You can really tell, how quickly the tach climbs without the fan running!
Great job!
👍👍👍
Good video as always. Glad you got the clutch fixed with no money spent and an excellent mechanic working on it.

Best videos on CZcams. No fluff just real mechanical problem solving.
In this throw away society it nice to see someone getting their hands dirty and solving the problem (and saving a few bucks to boot). 😊🇬🇧
Nice job at least we know how to fix one it's nice to see you have your doors and windows in your garage now
Great job Jesse. Glad you got it working. Have a great day.
Alright!Hanging out with Jesse today! Here we go! lov it ! Cheers!;-)!
Awesome video Jesse, keep em coming! Can’t wait for the next one.
That wonderful feeling you get when you successfully fix something without having to spend money, only time

A simple fix makes a big difference nice buddy waiting for those videos 👍 👌
Youngers could really learn a lot from minor maintenance or trouble shooting. Great video @jessemuller
You had both halves of your cage bolted together with your bolts you used to compress the spring.

That was an interesting video, Jesse. Even if you did a video on boring stuff, you'd make it worth watching
Liking those doors !! Secure and u be able to keep wrenchin' when its cold and snowing !!
Love the old school truck and trailer. Maybe some paint 🤷♂️👍
Great job Jesse, always a good feeling to have something work that you fixed yourself.

Another great vid.
I would have done the same thing. It feels good when you fix something and it works... God bless and keep them coming.
Glad it worked out Jess.. 👍👏👏
Good video Jesse
nice that worked out
good job!
Could add a radiator fan temp switch to have the fan automatically switch on.
Maybe a little bit of air tool oil in that line periodicity.
Clean is better. Clean and shiny is best! Good job.
love this show!!!!
Nice work Jesse
Determination and knowledge always gets you there and you saved big bucks to great watch I enjoyed 👍👋🇨🇦
I was asleep, and some dude was using his Jake brake on an empty truck. Woke me right up!

This video needs waaaaaaaaay more trucking and sunglasses in it.
trucking was appropriate for the overall video length and he used jake brake. but yes, woefully sparse amount of sunglasses.... sad.
i love you use the olde an not just bye som new
Reminds me of when I was a kid I would dismantle anything I could get my hands on just to see how it worked. I left the dog alone though.
Good problem solving! 👍👍👍
Hi there I wish I had artic with manual box new ones are useless no control with auto box lucky lad
I'm the same as you, I'll always try fixing something, if it's at all possible, especially if I'm saving money like that.

Arr,you can get an overhaul kit for the B&W.
I do believe you need constant air pressure of around 1oo psi to make it work proper
Fan is stuck engaged because the rust has seized it. Usually whack the aluminum with a punch and it unlocks. Horton fans were the worst for this if a truck is not used often.
It is nice that the failure mode is to fail engaged rather than fail disengaged. Will not overheat if the system is not working properly.

Would a oiler inline whenever you are using it to keep it oiled? Great show!!!!!!

Thanks for the video!!!❤❤❤❤
God bless you. From Arkansas
I love shop time stuff
Great video. You haven't given an update on your Pettibone Telehandler tranny. Did you finally get all the antifreeze/water out of it?
Isn't the computer supposed to switch the fan on following the engine temperature ?
Why would you have to do it manually ?
I don't understand.
I admire your ability! It's getting cold, what are your plans for finishing your workshop? Greetings, Marcel
Thanks Jess, good video.
Have a nice week.
Hope you can get the roof on before the winter sets in.
roof is on
super nice job

Thanx for posting
Saving money is making money brother. Good Video!!
So the switch solved the problem of it not turning on automatically. What mechanism normally turns it on? Just curious
good repair
You put the bolts through both sections and that was why it wouldn't turn
Great channel love your video

Where did you buy the c-clamps with the adjustable handles? Any info would be helpful I would love to have a set or two or three
I spotted those also. Best C clamps I've ever seen for convenience.
Thanks for this!
Hi sorry but it wouldn’t spin because you had those two bolts in it! It turned after you took them out ..
Wonder if putting some air tool oil in the line once in a while keep things moving....
It was still good thanks for sharing
All of my recent vehicles have electric fans which are extremely reliable and trouble free. Don’t know if this is an option for you, however…
Moist air?
Hi, just a thought for you to consider, maybe the previous owner of this truck did not drain the water from the air system, hence the rust that you found, especially if it had stood for some time before you bought it?
Fan and shutters {thought I heard them} should be temp controlled.
ahah are you still wandering why the clutch wasn't spining with the BOLT in place
👍👍👍
re 6:15 When you trun off the fan, we can see the puff of air move the cobwebs. Evidence, though not proof.
