Oh no, the poor fellow! Will he die of thirst in the tunnel, or will he also be stuck in a time warp, wandering between the exits for eternity, going insane? Or does the tunnel release him after a year, but a hundred years have passed outside? Is it comparable to the diabolical loop in my hallway that leads me to the leftovers in the fridge at night when I actually wanted to go to the bathroom? Thanks for the nightmarish video!

“The Tunnel" is a 1952 short story by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, one of the best “existential” rendering I’ve ever found - (and I’ve looked!). A tunnel is such a useful metaphor in the hands of a great author, similarly hallways with endless doors opening on more hallways as Sartre’s “No Exit”
No. Sartre's "No Exit" is about the theme of hell is other people.
I'm never going in a tunnel again 😮
If I heard a noise I would have went out first thing...not waiting another minute
The backroom
If you Google and scroll down a little bit the book version is on there to read 😊
Sometimes the simplest things can be most terrifying.
Fantastic work. The ending with the faint "help" was legitimately chilling.
You have good hearing. I had to go back and turn up the volume to hear that.
Yep,very faint "help",unfortunately his best friend missed it.😢

Fantastic! It feels like one of those dreams where you keep getting trapped over and over again.

Yikes! I don't be having those dreams, thank goodness! My recurring dreams are ones where I find myself really really high, climbing something like a train tressel or the worlds highest chain link fence. I come to a point where I have to do some simple maneuvre, like climb over the top of the fence to the other side, and Im suddenly gripped by panic and terror. THIS makes THAT look like a walk in the park 😬

How can an endless tunnel be short?

We have this beliefs in the Philippines that if you're lost or you cannot go out to where you have to go, in a forest or in a specific place just reverse your clothes, so that entity cannot get to you
*Sorry for my grammar
This is a good example on how to make a horror film, whether it be full length or short. You don't use jumpscares, you use atmosphere for the setting and let the creeps vibe in to do the scare on the audience

Scary and well made! I was feeling his tension! And the see no monster effect is always a banger!🔥
Thank you for the kind words! And yes, the less you see, the scarier it is, imo. The Blair Witch Project is, for me, the scariest movie I’ve ever seen and that aspect is a huge part of it.
no monster effects, but no sense either.
@@andrewclabaugh7946 Finally someone who praises TBW as much as I do. The Tunnel was awesome!
A banger?
I'd say that in this case, the tunnel _was_ the monster.
This. I don't want to see demons, or ghosts, or goblins. No shadow people. This. This is TRULY horrific. True horror. This is one of the scariest short films I've seen on CZcams.

Absolutely legendary. The perfect example of what horror should be and what big cinema fails to make it. And that soundtrack... the synthwave adds so much to it too. And the framing of the shots. And that empty tunnel shot at 3:26. It's all just so well made.
Exactly. The big money movie makers think blood, gore and jump-scare are the only kind of horror. This is much scarier and more relatable.
@@magnus1001 Yeah, it's rather unfortunate. And I can understand a well-placed jump scare (I'm thinking about the one and only jump scare in Jaws, which didn't even involve the shark), but when movies overdo it - which most horror movies nowadays do - it becomes cheap and not even scary anymore. I can also understand some gore in horror movies (Jaws is yet another good example), but when movies have constant gore that repeatedly pushes the limits, it becomes distasteful and also feels cheap.
So great! The end is actually a bit sad, his boyfriend can hear him, but thinks it's just in his head. Well done!

Very well done. As a writer, I wish I had thought of this one myself! The tunnel could also represent the future for this man who might be subconsciously insecure about meeting the parents of his bf and as such he can't get out of this tunnel. He is "stuck," frightened of moving onward with a relationship-.
You could easily steal this idea
@@frakismaximus3052 Oh, no, I never do that. There's some hard work putting a story together, editing, etc.,and it is never worth stealing someone else's if you know in your heart it wasn't yours! It's kind of pathetic.
When I was a senior in high school someone stole my story that had been published in our school magazine ( I was a junior when it was published). Then, when I was a senior, our English teacher asked us to submit a short story for class. Well, some idiot contributed MY STORY and the only way I could convince the teacher it was MINE was by showing her a copy of the school magazine Pegasus where my story was published in one year ago. It really upset me because she wouldn't tell me who it was. But--heh-heh, I figured it out!

duct tape, on a tree is exactly how i would describe this movie.
Very nice - well made and obvious that each shot has a lot of thought put into it, but also has the simple functionality and intrigue of a good old fashioned TWILIGHT ZONE segment
That was good......I was hoping for a shot of the tunnel lengthening as he ran, then you did that restart/warp effect.

This is more of a mind trip, than terrifying.
I've watched enough Star Trek to know a spatial anomaly when I see one. You have to walk backwards🤣
thats kinda sad
I think in theory you could've ended the film right at 3:30 while slowly moving the cam backwards until the tree from the last shot comes into view. :D
But of course I also appreciated the additional scenes and enjoyed this one as a whole! Fun watch and simple yet cool idea. Also well cut for the effect in the tunnel scenes. Keep it up!

There was another movie with the same scenario and concept. But it was about a girl who lost her boyfriend in a tunnel like that. He was unable to come out, she was unable to find him in.
What's the name
@@f.7379 I don't remember it. It was longer shot and she even found some belongings of his in the tunnel...
Absentia. It’s actually an early Mike Flanagan film.
The one that I meant is not Absentia though, but I guess this scenario comes to be quite abused and used :) Nothing bad in having lots of interpretations of it. :)

Puts me very much in mind of Stephen King's 'Crouch End' and '1408'. Good job!
High praise - thank you!!
Yeah! "Crouch End"!
I don't know what we call this type of film but yes it has similarities with « 1408 »

Very well done! Keeps the tension...Maybe he should try to make a hole in the roof of the tunnel? That´s creepy, omg.....
I’ve had a dream like this before. For me the song Californication kept playing in the background as I got trapped over and over again. Now I can’t listen to that song without feeling that overwhelming sense of dread I felt in that dream.

Great stuff! The concept is conveyed visually very effectively.
Does anyone else sometimes have that exact same feeling when looking forward while walking and your position doesn't seem to change at all? Happens to me on certain nature paths with repeating patterns of the same texture on the side so my brain feels like I don't move even tho I do

These tunnels are under freeways in the San Fernando Valley. There were two near my home in Sherman Oaks; one has been closed off. They were already spooky in the late '60s-early '70s! The rough texture on the walls is new, they were polished concrete before.
