      @@dr.wolfstar1765 As you said, he is a reviewer, not a critic. I don't like him promoting better help, but I also don't agree with viewers telling someone how they should review media. You can just watch someone else. Yet, here you are. Hate watching because if there is one thing that is certainly pathetic in this scenario, it is you. Strange, though, since he does criticize parts of this movie. You know you can give valid criticism without tearing something down, right? Yeah, probably not, you probably think Men are kings and women are kitchen pets. God is dead, and we should all worship Trump like Jesus. Because no normal people think they have a right to tell others how to do their job, when they know damn well they couldn't begin to do said job.

Yeah drugs and mafia bad but the lifestyle brings some joy to the participants otherwise they wouldn’t be tempted by it. Same thing with toxic relationships. There’s going to be some aspect that attracts character. It’s not endorsing it’s just depicting.

You also don't need to have all the characters being toxic in order to create drama in a romance movie. Since all 3 of these characters were unlikable I didn't have anyone to root for, nor did I care too much on the what the outcome will be.

    First of all, I can’t believe y’all didn’t realize that’s Patrick’s daughter. I think the point of the daughter was to show that Tashi cheated in Atlanta and got pregnant. The daughter having jet black hair (like Patrick) is a dead giveaway. Art has blonde/red hair.

    I think that there’s a pretty big difference between twilight’s romance and Challengers’ romance. Twilight’s romance is heavily romanticized and ignores the red flags while this movie makes it pretty clear that the relationship between all three of these characters is awful. At no point did I feel like the movie was trying to say that any of the relationships were good for the characters.
    Agree with some of your points on toxic romances in movies though. I think there’s a difference between watching a toxic relationship onscreen and finding the turmoil interesting and endorsing and encouraging one in real life. Also agree with your point about some romances aging poorly with the times because that is a thing with a lot of older romance movies.

    Just saw it and it's a bromance love triangle drama with depictions of tennis. I thought the angle of being the ball was fun like they placed a go pro in the ball while hit it but otherwise I couldn't understand points as they happened hahaha and I guess the point of the movie wasn't to see the matches like watching an ATP tourney. But it 100% captured the feeling I have as a tennis player while playing matches, the frustrations the subtle mind games that we as players put on ourselves not even about the person on the other side. Good mix of all would watch it once as I couldn't stand the toxicity of the 3 main characters. 😂

    The Soundtrack is composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and the director actually wanted them to create music, so that you basically can dance through the whole movie. So I guess the aggressive tracks are supposed to be that way. Didn't watch the movie yet, so I can't really tell, if it's that distracting. Just for some background info. I know it's a lengthy process even after a movie is finished, but I really think things are not going well. I know he doesn't want to keep getting people's hopes up by making hasty promises, but he could easily acknowledge it briefly. "I've been getting asked about the movie. Thanks for the continued interest and we are still in the process of distribution (or whatever)". That's all he would have to do and he doesn't even do that. And just look at how much videos he cranks out now packed full with sponsors. Even videos he claimed he wouldn't do anymore like reviews and trailer reactions of all things. I just see it as him getting nervous and him trying to get as much money built up as he can after burning it all (and his subscribers) into his movie

    Movie trailer was deceptive- not your typical young adult sexy Euphoria drama- this is about grown up relationships and desires against the backdrop of a tennis match. Very clever and for that I give four stars. I was blown away, my sympathy for the characters shifted with each new flash back, I rooted for all three and no one at the same time, and on the last scene I felt the everyone in the theater was also at the edge of their seat. Minus one star because Trent Reznor’s soundtrack was borderline campy techno and the screenplay/acting was cringey on some scenes.

    I hate this argument that romanticising toxic relationships in movies is bad. Are they actually romanticising them, or more likely putting them on display to criticise? Obviously some aren’t, but I find in general people take everything in movies at face value and don’t take a second to question it and maybe wonder if that’s the whole point. Like an easy example is people watching Starship Troopers or Showgirls and not realising it’s satire and getting upset about it 🤦🏼‍♂️ just because a movie has something morally wrong in it, doesn’t mean the film is inherently in favour of it. Usually it’s the opposite.

  • @bigsin781
    @bigsin781 Před měsícem +11

    For the sake of entertainment toxicity in a relationship is just about necessity, unless the relationship isn't a main focal point.
    If johnny is discovering his super powers, and his spouse supports him, then its alright because the focus is about Johnny, exploring his powers, the tribulations involved in that.
    Though, another perspective could be, Johnny is discovering he has powers, and the focus is about how its affecting those around him, in which, his spouse isn't supportive, they start to become distant and eventually come out as a anti-superhero/anti-mutant.
