I have been critical of Yates in the past due to what seemed to be an arrogant attitude but hats off dude… you and AL played great and did so very professionally.
johns had to be impressed with Waters' fearlessness in this match. And he had to be concerned with Simone's less than stellar performance. Not that he played well himself. Great match and it wouldn't surprise me to learn that Johns decided to invite Anna Leigh to partner up at some point during this match. He speaks often about mental toughness and she unquestionably has it.

Very much like the Johns/Jardim team and always rooting for them but not this one. I think Yates/Waters outsmarted and outplayed their opponents! Very well done! Want to see a lot more of the Yates and Waters partnership in 2022!
Not a lot of mistakes made in this game, it seemed to come down to Waters and Yates just being quicker in the firefights, and being able to read their opponents better. I'm happily surprised at the outcome of this match, hope to see more of it.
Ben and Simone where frustrated. Especially Ben. Look how he hung his head after many points. Yates and Waters, however, were amped.
There were plenty of mistakes.
@@Mike_Lebow that's what happens when you're the best player of the 4. But know you will lose. It deflates you. Jardin was the weakest link by far.

Ben john hogs the ball way too much. Very annoying to watch and i feel sorry for his partners.

this was part of it, but the beating he took from riley and anna at the nationals 2022 i think left a bigger mark

Mark: you don't need to have a comment for EVERY rally. It's ok to just let some points go by, without saying something about everything that happens. The game speaks for itself.
I can't stand listening to him. I turn the volume down just enough so I can't understand him.
Even Madden was silent a lot of the time. Just because you CAN comment doesn't mean you SHOULD comment.

John’s/Jardim, antiquated play. If Yates and waters wanted to they could have ended the game earlier by driving down the line on Johns.

Honestly it was a breath of fresh air to see Johns lose. It's absolutely infuriating to watch his play in mixed doubles. At 2:06 his poach of Jardim's shot is ridiculous. The guy is literally 8ft into her 10ft side of the court to make a shot that was easily returnable by her. I can't even watch his full mixed doubles matches because of his style. It's as if he has zero faith in female partners. Too bad Engage already has a paddle called Poach as that name would be a perfect name for Franklin's BJ model.

It's a competition with money in the line and he is the best player in the world. Yates poaches Waters a few times as well
Johns should take any ball he wants any time he wants. If he's feeling it and wants to take control of the game, that's how you do it. It intimidates the players on the other side of the net. Sometimes I get the feeling that he could win mixed doubles matches without a partner at all.
I see this often in most mixed doubles, not just with Johns. I do agree that the poach you mentioned is extreme and would piss me off if partnered with him.
Jardim just not in her groove this game
Too many unforced errors by Simone, very unlike her usual play.
In her defense, I think we all found out later she has an injury limiting her ability.
Being an announcer doesn't mean you have to talk ALL the time, just sayin'. Let the action be its own commentary once in awhile.
He is talking about the game being played. Not like a lot of other commentators who talk on and on about nothing.
He lost! It's a miracle! I've wanted to see him lose for a long time.
Pickelball is an idiotic sport. But if people like it instead of tennis that's their business. But what is really bad is when they paint pickelball lines on a tennis court and mess it all up!

Better step off the tennis tracks or you'll get run over by the pickleball train....fastest growing sport in America while tennis facilities stand empty.
pball is a great sport but ur right--lines on a tennis court are the towns cheap way to include pball and not foot the bill for designated courts..my town of pequannock nj after 30 years of rundown tennis courts are even asking pballersl to use the tennis net as a pball net.so cheap and stupid..now they ll have ticked of both tennis and pballers
