  • In this video we are going to install the E46 front control arms and the angle plates for bigger steering angle and increased negative camber on the front of the E36 . There were some underwater stones during the whole job , but in overall i think , it was worth it .

    My coilovers had a tab on them for the M3 sway bar/stabiliser to attach and I feel like it performs a lot better connected there. At least then you don't need to worry about any holes drilled into the E46 control arms for the sway bar links.

      it's better to extent your E36 control arms because E46 are wider and depends of the wheel offset might rub into them on full lock

    Don't know if anyone else said it but you should've went poly or delrin on those lollipops. Huge difference in steering feel and unwanted slop is eliminated. The stock 'webbed' bushings are garbage. The ///m ones are at least solid rubber and are a slight upgrade, with good comfort if that's what your after. Also you'll notice a big improvement attaching your sway end links to the struts, (m3 style.) Cut the tabs off a pair of junk m3 struts or buy cnc machined tabs from akg motorsport. Then you can either buy off the shelf adjustable end links or make your own like I did. Two heim joints, jamb nuts, and threaded shift rod will allow you to adjust the preload on the sway bar. Here in the states, Coleman racing sells the threaded shift rods, and pegasus racing- the heim joints and jamb nuts. Massive improvement in the effectiveness of the sway bars' "levering" effect.

      My friends are driving with similar setups , I know about the difference , but because I'm going to do bigger suspension upgrade , there days , this always goes to the "no need for this right now" list . Thanks for the info :)

    Use detergent soap decide the bushing inside a control arm lubricated the metal piece as well as the bushing inside

    (sorry for google translator)

    • @MrBEAN584
      @MrBEAN584 Před 5 lety +1

      there is no way to do it on those arms, most people delete the sway-bar. as the e46 mounts the sway-bar endlinks directly to the shocks not on the control arm.

  • @MilesHarrelson
    @MilesHarrelson Před 4 lety

    Did the sway bar (stabilizer arm) actually work when driving? I see people just deleting the sway bar all together. I’m concerned it’s going to cause unnecessary stress on arms and frame if I try to install the sway bar to lower control arms?

    • @crank3646
      @crank3646  Před 4 lety

      It is debatable . It is doing something , but not a lot . For real advantage of it , you going to need to attach the sway bar to the shocks . The same is for the rear sway bar , it is useless in the way that is attached right now . You going to need to attach it , either to the shocks or to the hub .

    • @MilesHarrelson
      @MilesHarrelson Před 4 lety

      CRANK thank you sooo much! I’ve been searching around for a 10 mm drill bit for awhile just to widen the hole and add the links to keep the sway bar. Was thinking about not connecting it all and definitely not going to now untill I get different struts in the future. You have definitely saved me time with this install! Thank you for the really quick response also! You have helped a lot!

      @@steviebsco I'm kind of late here lad but he was able to use the stock tie rods for the swap due to the fact he installed the angle adapters. Usually for the adapters you have to shorten your rods due to the new end rod mounting location since it's closer in. Now for E46 control arms on E36 you have to get a longer inner rod or use a spacer due to fact it pushes the wheel outward. So basical the control arms bring the hub outward and the angle adapter brings the mounting point for the rod in it just makes up for it. Excuse me I tried to explain the best I could.

    Братле, имам въпрос. Скоро и аз сложих такива адаптери, но на оригиналните носачи и при завиване, гумите (225/50/15) допират под калниците. Ти имаш ли такъв проблем да опираш някъде и успя ли да минеш реглаж ? Мисля, че на мен не са ми отрязани ( tie rod end) . Гледах, че ги режат с по сънтиметър. Помощ: Казаха ми да търся удължени носачи....

    • @crank3646
      @crank3646  Před 5 lety +1

      Няма как да не опират , освен ако не сложиш джанти с малко ЕТ или не ги изкараш по-някакъв начин навънка . При мен , за да не опират , сложих 30мм фланец , но все пак аз отрязах и калника , защото тогава ще опира много във веждата . Имай предвит , че тези адаптери имат проблем , който открих в последствие . Оказа се че мястото където се монтира кормилния накрайник няма конус и гайката се развива . Наскоро си направих втулки с конуси и ги набих там , за да нямам пак този проблем .

    How you tighten the tie rod on the plate? because there is no conus like on the oem position so i can put the tie rod completly in the hole and cant tighten them to hold, i have freeplay in the hole and i cant tighten them more because the bolt is also spinning with the nut
