    Crazy traveling by buzz in this game

      I wonder if that’s how the game is played in Japan because often the travel occurs from a complete standstill on the throw. It’s like they take a step then throw vs throwing on a step while keeping the pivot foot down. This seems more like a fundamental travel vs after the catch you are milking a couple of steps to slow down.

      A lot of confirmation bias is present in this video. If the travel has no effect, what are we talking about? Second, the commentator is talking about non-existent travels as well. What travel happened at 7:03?

    I genuinely don't understand how so many elite players travel so much. I hardly ever travel and when I do, it's not like THAT. These guys are just out here taking all kinda steps! It's bananas.
    Feels like you would have to really practice not giving a fuck about having a pivot foot to ever end up doing some of those moves lol

      i noticed matsuno was travlling as well. like i was so confused at first cuz hes a lefty and thoght that was his normal pivots or something but nah hes def travelling but it didnt get called so idk lol

      I agree with you although there is still the point that you are allowed to take 3 steps before establishing a pivot foot when you have momentum, although a lot of these pro clips have pros taking more then 3 steps however maybe that’s just a pro rule that’s different.

    WOW. This is so well done! #1/2 The editing and commentary are swift, but so clear I might share it to my older brother, who is a football guy (American football); I've been looking for one or two cool things to just give him a glimpse of ultimate. Plus #2/2 I love the small extras, including a few words about who these two are (and the fist bump .. "not sure if contact was made," but smiles all around lol
    Only halfway so far but wanted to stop and say thank you

      Just looked like a lot of fairly obvious traveling in whole from the team in blue. Like a lot of hopping bolth feet off the ground can't tell which foot is their pivot bc they're shifting bolth feet constantly with disc in hand. Idk bro. Probably like NBA and FIBA. Different ruleset and officiating of rules. Happens.

    also holy COW that attempt at the behind-the-back block at 4:51 I want to try guarding like that even though it's probably not a good idea

  • @ParhelionMedia

    6:56 Matsuno really gets away with a travel here as a lefty and he seems to know what he's doing intentionally - he appears to switch his pivot foot to confuse the defender then takes an extra step with the pivot foot to throw around him. Sneaky but definitely a travel. The throw for the score was an even worse travel.

    • @gnarwhalnoah
      @gnarwhalnoah Před rokem +4

      Really annoying because as a lefty handler I know how good this move is, and you definitely don't have to travel for it to work, you just have to do it as the last step of your slow down. Defenders instinctively move to respect the power position righty forehand and you can pretty much do anything to them after that because you havent actually established a pivot, so you can pick either foot as it suits the situation and get a strong play from there. However, once the pivot is established like in these clips it's simply a travel, I think a lot of players are scared to call travels on lefties because they get confused and dont want to risk making an incorrect call, which I also see a lot of as a lefty handler.
      Bottom line: lefty is so good already, you shouldnt need to travel to have a big advantage.

    Are their players who can throw the disc with either hand? Ie so you can change hands behind your back when somebody is trying to block you.

    • @tusharjamwal
      @tusharjamwal Před rokem +1

      you don't even need to change behind the back. Yes the offhand backhand seems to be getting more more common.
