(For those wondering, yes, I did use flowers with specific meanings.)
And fun fact: this took me about 5 hours of manic productivity in one night, mad with freedom after being recently relieved of one of my biggest time commitments in my schedule.

I love the double meaning of the line “And then I turned away, into the shade” Eurydice did physically turn away from Orpheus, into the shade, the Underworld. However, a shade is also a ghost or spirit of someone who has died, and Eurydice, upon entering the Underworld, turned “into the shade.”
yeah, like the Odyssey book with the shades when Odysseus has to go down to the underworld

the echo effect on "someone" at 2:38 is especially chill inducing..... it mixes with her vibrato on that word so gorgeously, complements it so well T_T
Something special about the flowers that Eurydice, specifically talks about not the ones drawn in the visuals, they are actually very closely related to her motivations and overall character. So you know how she talks about wanting to lie down forever; to have a soft bed in Hey Little Songbird. And here she talks about falling asleep and drifting away. Poppies are red; and associated with death because of that, and they are associated with a peaceful death due to the effects the seeds specifically had, which later on were used to make opium. Poppies were used in greek mythologies as offerings to the dead.
Now lilies, on the other hand, are also flowers associated with death, innocence, and heaven. Often they can mean wishes of innocence and peace after death. Often those are the kinds of flowers people will give as condolences to those who lost someone. And they are associated with Hera goddess of marriage, and her lamentations with her husband. Later on, they became associated with chastity and virginity, and I want everyone to remember that right after Eurydice names off those flowers, she talks about what happened with Hades behind those closed doors.
And just because, the main symbol of Hadestown is the red carnation. The "Divine Flower" at the center of it all. Come to show deep love an affection. But, the carnation was another flower used by the greeks. It was a flower of worship to the greek pantheon. Red carnations are sometimes as described as having intensity and charisma, which when you look at Orpheus, I guess you can see why? In the creation according to the Romans, Diana/Artimes apparently got thirsty for a farmboy and when he said he wasn't interested she ripped his eyes out which grew into the carnations. The flower came to be used in the ceremonial crowns that the Greeks and the Romans wore.
Okay, there, my ramble is done, this video and the visuals made me so damn emotional.

Ahh please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm bad at floral identification but I /think/ these were the ones you used: poppies (red are for remembrance), calla lilies (purity), Easter lilies (hope), the bottom one as a peony (riches/compassion/shyness?), and my only guess for the center one is carnation (bravery/admiration)
All correct except for the calla lilies--those are foxglove. Nice work! Still a little more to be found though ;)

I tried to listen to the full musical for my hundredth time but I had grown so fond of this edit that Flowers didn't feel quite right or "whole" in its official form. I really like the "cathedral" effect that many of the songs of the original cast have, I thank you deeply for this!

The flowers do also bloom throughout the video.
I will admit that this one is a lot more static than my other recent videos :] it stems from the fact that these drawings were originally just supposed to be simple visuals for the music so people weren’t just stuck with a black void to stare at and the videos could be differentiated visually by thumbnail (“Starchild” is the worst offender of this). Any changes in visuals, _originally,_ were easter eggs before they were features. The main draw of these videos is supposed to just be the music with some echo, but some people seem to have latched on for the art too, for which I’m terribly grateful. I’ve been trying to up my game for their sake.
