- When you’re sailing the seven seas, things can’t get a bit messy! Johnny Depp had his fair share of slip-ups, flubs, and embarrassments when filming all the movies in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
One of his all-time most awkward experiences on set involved kissing a much younger co-star. We’re talking half his age, younger. Then there was some improv that went haywire - but it happened to be a complete genius at the same time. The actor caught everyone on set totally off guard in an embarrassingly wild improv - but the camera wound up loving it and it was kept in the movie.
Memorizing all those lines is hard work, so Depp had to have a little bit of help on set. It came in the form of an earpiece and a sound engineer who was feeding him lines throughout. It didn’t always help him though since the actor still lost some lines, especially when it came to names. To be fair, he had some unique ship and character names to keep track of. As much as knowing the lines is important, being able to say them presents an extra struggle for all involved! The actor missed his mark a few times - including once when he had a sword in hand and let’s just say, it was an awkward time on set for everyone - especially his scene partner! We’ve also got a few bonuses at the end, covering other embarrassing set experiences that the actor would more often than not, rather forget!

I love how he brought life to Jack Sparrow in such an endearing, humorous way. He has brought joy to many people including children. His laugh when he has to repeat the line more than once is fun & shows his good nature.
It's hard to pick a favorite scene but if I had to! It would be the opening scene of Pirates 1 because it seems like he is on a large ship only to see he's on a rowboat. Where the viewer is first introduced to Captain Jack Sparrow
His tumbling down the steps on the ship before picking himself up and singing "I got a jar of dirt, I got a jar of dirt.."
Most of that scene was all his improve just cos he tripped and forgot the original lines, yet wanted to carry on with it!
But they liked the improv and kept it as he did it! 😂 😂 😂
With Cap'n Jack Sparrow, just one huh... Each time he made a dramatic escape beginning with just after saving Miss Swann to the Creation of his make-shift parachute after Will died.
Not including Jack would be the Wedding of Miss Swann & Will Turner. That wedding must go down in history as the greatest wedding of all time!, & their last meeting after the curse was broken.
Seems to me that this video had more to do with shedding a bad light on Johnny than being embarrassing scenes. Do you really believe he's the only actor that flubs his lines. I believe the only one he was truly embarrassed about was kissing Keira.
Plus I think most of the things @thethings said were made up.

Not anymore huh. He’s been so hurt and devastated at the unfair defamation of his name and Disney company jumped wayyyyyy too soon and hard. He’s made them a lot of money 💰 but he will not go back after being betrayed by a company he thought was honest good and fair. SMH.

I wish, if people are going to do a “report” on Johnny Depp, they could do their homework and get their facts right! Johnny used to rewrite a lot of his lines before going on set, and so his sound technician would just feed him the new lines, he had just written, through an earpiece. It kept the scene fresh and often surprised his costars.
This piece is clearly a hit piece meant to sway public opinion. And I find it disgusting that this channel could so easily be bought by the ELON MUSK/Amber Heard team.

He's also said he ignored direction a lot as far as how to move and where to be. He did his own thing when in character. I'm sure it was frustrating to the director but it worked. Jack Sparrow is an extremely popular character.

Johnny is a briljant actor and a he is 100% a Method Acting actor. He lives the charachter. He told in a interview people would freak out and it got scary he was always talking like Willy Wonka is real life during the filming of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. For the vampire movie Dark Shadows he lost a lot of weight and did not go out in the sun to stay pale, for the vampire look

He was under a tremendous amount of stress during these movies. When You're under a lot of stress your memory suffers and getting older doesn't help. But stress is a big one. He still did a fantastic job and I applaud his work in Pirates! These movies will always be loved years from now!❤

I don't understand why some ppl speak abt Johnny using an aid/earpiece in a pessimistic way. If he did use a device on set, he sure wldn't be the first.. Many!! ..Actors/Actresses have & use these as I write this very comment.. Also, a large # of them used other methods to asst via recalling lines, such as flashcards, etc. The shooting schedule for Pirates was not only lengthy w/ long work hours but the script , just for "Sparrow" alone was tedious & complex. The completed films are well done but do not show the entirety of hard work that was actual done during filming. If anyone lacks appreciation for this, maybe they shld visit filming locations. Certainly, it does change one's perspective rather quickly. P.S. I appreciate all of yr input. *Addition - I am aware JD was reported to be listening to music via earpierce on filming location. I feel this was a desperate tactic, by AH legal team, to attempt to question his acting capabilities & competence. The annoying, demeaning interjections/digs that AH & her team said abt JD w/ ery given opportunity was a poor attempt to make him appear unstable due to drug & ETOH ab*se. At the same time, they tried to downplay AH's drug & ETOH ab*se. The epitome of projecting at its finest.
Her story was just proven to be a factual lie through court testimony! Like all her stories, this story was made up by Amber Heard to make him look bad... The sound engineer testified that Johnny has used earpieces for years, and music is the only thing Johnny has ever had put through the earpieces, and never has been used to have lines feed to him!

When he goes to hospitals or sits with kids and so on. It’s because he has direct knowledge of the heart break.
His daughter at a young age was very sick and money and power did nothing to help him out at that time. He realized as his daughter was fighting to live parents would sit and wither away during these times. When he visits not only does the child smile the parents hearts are warmed because for that second there child has forgot about the pain. Cancer or maybe death.
Since he’s out now he can’t dress up and visit kids etc.
Only Disney would take relief from a dying child! And Amber turd!

Well, according to his sound engineer's testimony on the stand, the reason for the earpiece was because he would make significant changes to the script the morning of the shoot, and the engineer would feed those last minute changes to him as well as keept music playing in his ear throughout shooting.

He is a drug addict and an alcoholic (since 30?-40?years). That is an illness he will never get rid of anymore. He is old, overweight and acts weird. I don't think he is such a kind person with all his addictions and insecurities. His films turned to be not good anymore at all. It was for sure not that bad for him to get banned in Hollywood. Less chance to embarass himself in movies.

I've seen the kissing scene in a few clips and was surprised the prodecers allowed this, and automatically thought he must be feeling very awkward and conflicted about this scene. Having heard him talk so lovingly about his daughter and being such a protective and doting father of her, I would think it would have been be pretty uncomfortable for him.

This was in the first movie when he was with his ex, Vanessa. She was ok with most of his movies when he had love interests or scenes, but Vanessa did show up to set of The Tourist and didn't like him doing the intimate scenes. He did them but then asked the producers to remove one scene that he said was too racey and didn't need to be included. I haven't seen the movie, but am going to. That one was with Angelina Jolie, which might have played into her insecurities of his intimate scenes. Regarding Kiara, he said he was uncomfortable because she was a minor, but her mother cleared it and he said Kiara wasn't bothered by it, because it was part of the job. With all the Me Too right now, I don't know if would be given the OK. In another article it said Orlando was also uncomfortable playing her love interest because of their age difference as well, since she was a minor. It's like a junior in HS being in a relationship with a 42-yr-old man, or a 29(?)-year-old man, it wouldn't fly in real life.

Like I know Amber was over 18 when they met and started dating. It’s not the age difference itself but the fact that she wasn’t 18 at the time. It’s really hard to imagine anyone giving Johnny Depp grief over his performance of Captain Jack. His behavior makes that performance perfect. He is why people want to see the next one, and the next one. I think the only thing that was embarrassing was the cure nightly scene. The rest are just the norm for most actors no doubt.

The sound engineer testified that JD's earpiece played music (like a secret weapon to get him in character) and only fed him the lines that DEPP had RE-WRITTEN himself that morning in the make-up chair...to make his classic character what we like so much!
Uhhhh this is more about puttin Depp down than about embarrassing scenes to film. And if Depp did seem out of sorts a bit during his marriage to Heard, it’s definitely understandable since dealing with a Narcissist literally sucks the very life out of a person!

If you watch all “making of a movie” you see the cast members have fun , they mess up their lines , they laugh , even the producers laugh . It’s all in good fun . All actors/actresses mess up , it’s normal they are humans too . 🤦🏻♀️

This title is kind of misleading. It seems like the content stays true to the title in the beginning but becomes increasingly negative about Depp?????? I mean even if the stuff that happened with his trailer, forgetting lines, esc. is true stuff, I have a problem with this because he’s out there in public rn fighting for his life and he’s already been shit on by the media. He wasn't fed his lines. He has ADD. It helps us A LOT to always have some kind of noise in our ears. Whatever was going thru his ear buds probably helped him remember lines.
In his trial he said that the earpiece was playing music, no one fed him lines and if you watch other CZcams videos of Johnny Depp talking about Marlin Brando that is who he learned it from.

RE: Kissing Scene. I can't imagine why there's this big to do regarding the age difference, not when both are adults. Sparrow's childlike innocence, while at the same time playing the crafty pirate that dooped the bad guys. In the pirate series he has unlimited talent, so much so that you can almost smell the ocean water.
It's a shame Disney didn't appreciate him, or his fans, instead of a gold digging strumpet that made a complete ass of Disney executives.
After all the negativity surrounding Disney in the last few decades, how dare they call out Johnny for ambers lies. In the end amber did to Disney what Disney did to Johnny ... and still Johnny Depp is on top!
