25 years ago i was in hong kong with some mates on the lash kinda thing and one mate wanted a tattoo on his back.. anyway being drunk we found some backwak tattooist and he asked for a dragon on his back... to cut a long story short we paid the tattooist 4 times as much to put a tattoo of a washing machine instead he still has it today..couldnt stop laughing the next morning when we had sobered up haha

I was being tattooed and a guy came in and wanted "White Power" on the left side of his chest. The artist agreed to do it which sort of surprised everyone in the shop. Then the artist told him "I like doing bold tattoos. This should go on your forehead. If you want it on your forehead I'll do it for free." The guy accepted the offer. After the tattoo, when he left, the artist (who is Mexican😂) said "I did that so everyone will instantly know what a dumbfuck that guy is."
I think the tiger and flower was a pun of a tiger lily.

Yup I had the "no hands/neck" speech given to me my 1st time. I wanted my moms name on my neck he asked "how many you got?" Then said no most of them won't do your 1st 1 on hands and necks. Funny because I was underage and wasn't supposed to get any and he knew it, I got 1 on my arm instead I tried to hide it from mom for 3 days always wearing long sleeve shirts in the summer when I barely even wore shirts at all at home 🤣🤣🤣
I did end up getting her name on my neck about 2yrs later...19/20 ish.

It's strange that this anecdote is relevant twice within a week on CZcams.
Years ago my brother asked me to print out how to write his wife's name followed by Forever (Holly Forever) in Japanese. He didn't tell me why, so I just plugged 'holly forever' into babelfish (it's been a WHILE), printed the result and gave it to him. It turns out he wanted the printout so he could show it to a tattoo artist and get "Holly Forever" tattooed in HUGE Japanese characters down the inside of his forearm. And I mean HUGE - like 2 inch high, super thick-lined characters. Well it turned out that babelfish assumed I meant the plant so he now has *SHRUBBERY FOREVER* tattooed on his forearm in Japanese for the rest of his life.
Bonus: They're now divorced so every time he looks at his forearm he's reminded of both his ex and of being an ignoramus 🤣
I agree with Dave, that snake tattoo was some good work, also the Dave poem tattoo was good work the lettering was really good, so I am guessing it's the peoples decisions that are the fails for the most part, cause I've seen some good work tattoo wise 👍🍀
I just find it so interesting that he always feels he has to preface his feelings with, "It's not for me". He does it a lot & I wonder if its insecurity of feeling like his opinion will be trivialized or belittled or if it's just another British saying, like "having a laugh" lol

You kinda need to know the back stories of tattoos. A guy i used to work with - such a sweetheart - got a tattoo of his little brothers name who was killed in a car crash. At the time people might have thought a male name tattooed on another male would be weird, but it was a lifelong homage to his little brother.
Some of those tattoos are too cool, but others look like a second grader did them

The bad artwork is exactly why I wouldn't get a tattoo and plus I don't know if I could commit to something that permanent.
It all depends on your Artist. Always do your research on the Artist and what you are looking to have done.

Sometimes. If it's one they have drawn then probably yeah. One of my artisr used different color highlighter to draw the tattoo on my entire left arm then tattooed the entire outline and it looks amazing. I go back in 2 days to get another 4 hour session done with some more color.

I just don't know.. I've never had a tattoo and likely never will. But I wonder, with something that's a permanent part of you, how do you ensure it's done well? I mean there's no do-overs and you won't know if you like it until you see the finished product. Seems risky. I've seen some impressive looking tats though.. and seen horrible fails.
There are never any guarantees, but some things that help include seeing photos of the work the artist has done, doing a consultation about what you want and where, and having them draw up what the tattoo will look like.
we'll the first thing you do is look up reviews in the place you are planning to get it done at, then you check their previous work, then you make damn well sure the stencil is what you want then you pray to the gods
