Lived in Metairie after Katrina. Granddaughter graduated West Jefferson which was close. Lived off David Drive and close to everything. West Jefferson Hospital. The Malls. I enjoyed it. Watching Saints playing was fun. Hopefully the crime gets better. I was really sad hearing things we never had to worry about. 😟Also Metairie has its own Mardi Gras parades which are family friendly.
Thank you for sharing! Yes, I agree that Metairie is conveniently located and close to just about everything. I have also loved participating in the Metairie celebrations, parades, festivals, etc. Unfortunately, the world we live in now-a-days is just not the same as it used to be - We all must look out for one another, no matter where we live.
I grew up there. Got out as soon as I turned 18. Chain restaurants find there home there and the traffic will make you wish you joined the Peace Corps and never returned.
In Metairie, the oldest New Orleans suburb, has an incredible Jefferson Parish Police Force. You maybe somewhat correct in saying bleed over crime is occasionally rare, mainly from police chases coming from New Orleans on the interstate. Our home grown issues are few, please check Jefferson Parish stats before making video. The north shore may not get some New Orleans bleed over due to the causeway bridge, they have their own home grown issues there which you know as well, check St. Tammany Parish stats. Please NO north shore snobbery. No area is immune. Our roadways are better kept versus New Orleans roadways. Who has not experienced traffic? Have family in all parts of the surrounding area to New Orleans and again had hair pulling traffic issues on north shore, south shore, east and west. Old Metairie is highly desirable with old and new money residents and the homes of such. It has and continues to be the gold standard of places to live in Metairie, stubbornly holding its real estate value when other areas can not. Home affordability is various. As you said restaurants and parks are numerous, Lakeside Mall is vibrant, professional businesses and corporations are abundant, landscaped environs, grocery stores like Zuppardos, Dorignacs, Breaux Mart, Rouses are old family businesses, chain restaurants are available, but most restaurants are old family establishments interspersed with trendy ones , family friendly Mardi Gras, Home Depot, Lowes, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, boat launches to Lake Pontchartrain, movie houses, theatres, every denomination of churches, building suppliers, auto dealerships, women and children clothing boutiques, men's fine apparel, coffee shops, bakeries, public, private and parochial schools, etc. I love that New Orleans is just minutes away to enjoy its rich culture of music, food, fun, festivals, old and new krewe Mardi Gras, museums, stately and historic architecture, scenic environs, destination weddings, and food (did I say food?). New Orleans exudes history. All areas are suffering with high home insurances, not just in coastal states, but across the nation, so that cannot absolve any region as being better. Again there is no place free of natural disasters in this country. So thankfully this is a free country and one can reside where his/her income permits to rear one's family.
How in the hell is Metairie 30 minutes from N.O. when it's immediately across the city line/17th street canal??? La Place or Norco is more like 30 minutes from New Orleans.
Is Metairie better than Lafayette? I felt like it was too far from New Orleans and too spread out. Maybe no jobs if I had to switch. However, the housed were pretty and the people were some of the nicest people ever.
I haven't been to Plano to agree or disagree with your comparison, but it's true that Metairie isn't for everyone. Many people who live there LOVE IT, but that's not to say everybody does. What kind of atmosphere are you interest in? I would love to help you with your research!
Been there pretty lame city. New Orleans in general is over hyped filth. Unless you got a thing for walking in urine then hey I guess it’s cool if that’s what your into.
Well I have been partying down there for 20 years, and I haven't stepped in urine yet! Although sometimes you get a bad wiff, I have also had that in many other cities as well. I guess I choose to look on the bright side.
@@LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana I once saw a woman step in homelesspoop on Hollywood blvd. Hollywood is also gross and I’m from there I dunno why people have a feel they need to defend where they are from even if they know it’s gross

Metairie is one of the best cities on the planet 🌏!
So much to do, convenient to New Orleans without being in New Orleans, and a variety of housing to choose from. 😍

I was thinking the same thing. 30 min? Whaaaat?

Hostess is obviously not from there. Tool me 12 minutes to get to the FQ from my house.
What is the average household income source? Census data says it's $60,355. Just trying to see where $142,000 came from.
I live in Louisiana and visit New Orleans a lot, but I've never been to Metarie. I was hoping to see your vison through video.
30 minutes to get to New Orleans???? I’m ok the Kenner line and I can get to the Dome in 15 minutes
