    They are just railway enthusiasts trying out the shortest train route and make youtube videos on that, the game isn't broken at all

    It seems likely the people taking the first train were looking to transfer to another train, and the AI routed them into the train system at the closest access point. Would be more interesting if other train routes stopped at both stations, and then run a separate line that only connects the two, would it still be used?
    This type of behaviour is pretty well recorded IRL, where people go to the nearest metro station and enter the system, even though they end up transferring at a station in easy walking distance. It's more a wayfinding problem than laziness...often how close stations are is less obvious than in the example here.
