- Upgrading the end can is the easiest way to improve the sound on your Duke or RC and if you choose something like the Akrapovic slip on then you will gain some extra power as well. This is true on the KTM 390 and also with the 125, 200 and 250 all of which share the same exhaust (check with your local dealer to confirm because there may be some differences depending where you live). Today I'm changing out the stock end can to the Akrapovic which was designed by Akrapovic and KTM.

Hey David looks like a great upgrade...had to watch again , couldn't remember the ending as I fell asleep last night woke up at 1am on sofa with you tube still whirring away...bloody shutdown too many hours I can't enjoy my mates videos 😕 any how peace and Love brother...👍🏻☮❤
Thanks Springy. Hope you are looking after yourself properly with all these hours. Want to see some more garden videos soon. Skäl. David

Are taking over the patio as they have no sticks so they're spreading like the red weed from war of the worlds ""ulla!!" ...☮❤
Your video really helped me install my akrapovic on my R3, thank you very much
Glad I could help
Amazing thank you for doing this!
My pleasure!
I really liked your idea to make the native muffler shorter. I want to repeat this on my motorcycle Thanks for the inspiration!
Go for it!
Nice one. I'm gonna install it on my Duke 250
Good luck with that. Skäl David
@@MotoMirius what is the weight of the akrapovic exhaust compared to the stock how much does each one weight
Sir good nice sir..........😍
Thanks. Skäl David
Quick question! What sort of sealant did you use to connect the pipes at 11:50? I've just changed mine over without any grease/lube and noticed there's leakage. The stuff you used seems like it would fix the problem. Cheers.
Loctite 5980. You want an exhaust grade sealant.
Great video thank you. And just a quick question I know exhausts get hot but does the sealant burn at all or is it heat proof
No issues if you use the correct sealant. I no longer use sealant on the slip on, it seals well enough as it is and I've had this exhaust on and off a large number of times!
Helllo Mirius for one more time :D in yyour opinion ... you believe the sound of the akrapovic at 390 without the db killer worth the money? is the difference obvious? But without any other change like central silencer , decat etc.... i mean if you change only the stock with the akrapovic and remove db killer has a better sound worth 600?
There is no answer on money. For some people 600 is a lot of money and needs a lot of thought. For others 600 is small change and little thought. Also if you decide you don’t like it, it’s easy to sell. For me, I paid much, much less. Would I pay full price? Not just for sound. But Akrapovic also works for power so that is something you don’t get with cheap or stock exhaust. Skäl. David
Hello there.. I've recently put on a akro slip on for my duke 390. After riding the bike for 2k kms I've noticed the throttle has become less responsive. And the idle is quite rough, the RPM automatically keeps moving up and down. I feel it's because of the new exhaust. Should I get a piggyback ECU? What are you thoughts
Hi. Hunting at idle is most commonly caused by lean running - vacuum leaks around the air box or fouled plug, blocked injector. Check also for air leaks at exhaust joints and check the air filter for fitting and cleanliness. If you’ve removed the baffle try refitting. Any other exhaust mods like decat, header or open air box lid and I’d go piggyback. But I wouldn’t otherwise recommend on otherwise stock setup (Akro slip on is factory stock alternative) unless you’ve ruled out the common causes. Skäl. David
Awesome brother, I wanna mod too, Would this affect my vehichle performance in any which ways? and would doing this void the warranty?
I got a 2023 version with liquid mettalic version.
Thanks. The Akra is a KTM Powerparts so the bike needs no modification and it will do no harm to a stock bike. Since KTM (and only KTM) sell them it does not void the warranty.
Quick question : New Biker here … It’s enough to take out the pre silencer ( Black box thingy ) and use a mid pipe connector with fuel x lite to compensate the mixture . I want more sound and maintain my engine health
The Lite will maintain engine health. Removing the presilencer will tend to reduce mid range power so isn't recommended unless you replace it with a pipe that has a chamber in it - I have a video showing a LeoVince pipe replacing the presilencer so you can see what I mean. It will make the bike much louder, so I don't do it as it will reduce your choice in what slip on you can fit.
@@MotoMirius thank you si much , I Will look into it
Hi David, i have a question about the muffler. What is the size of the inlet pipe which goes in the muffler? Thanks.
Hi Barnabas. The OD of the pipe where it slips inside the slip on is 52mm
U need to show how that stock exhaust was made into shorter😍
I do indeed. But to go it properly I need a stock exhaust and I’m not seeing any for sale cheap enough for me to do that. If I find one then I will do it because it does work well. Skäl. David
Hope u find one ❤️
Hi, do you know what part is the carbon bracket that holds the main Akrapovic exhaust? Apparently this bracket got lost in the shipping so I need to order a new one :( . Thanks.
Hi, the only place you can buy these is from a KTM dealer. If you talk to Akrapovic they refer your enquiry to your local KTM dealer, so talk to your KTM dealer or the place that sold you the exhaust. Skäl David
@Moto Mirius hi, don't you have to modify the ecu when you swap out your stock for after market exhaust?
Hi John. KTM are quite specific that replacing the stock slip on with the Akrapovič does not require any modifications. Of course, if you choose a different one or do more mods then you may require one. Skäl David
@@MotoMirius thanks david for the quick response. great videos. love your channel.
Hey david just a quick question do you know if the Akrapovic exhaust for the newer version of duke 390 2022-2023 is compatible with 2019-2020 duke 390…i was searching online for used parts and i found 1 whuch says its been mounted on a 2022 duke 390🤷♂️
You have to be a bit careful with dates because some countries were (and maybe still are) supplied with the old models. The new version likely uses the same end can - the difference is the link pipe - the BS6 under engine exhaust has different pipe connectors. So you can't just fit the older Akra to the newer bikes. But if you swap out the entire BS6 exhaust you could put an old style exhaust on a newer style bike - so it depends what they did to make it work. It might be if you bought the BS6 link pipe from KTM, the old slip on would be plug and play.
Definitely sounds deeper, are you happy with it on the road?
Thanks Dave. Yes, it’s noticeably louder out and about. I’m still not entirely sold on the sound but I’ve something else lined up that could change the sound so I’m waiting to see how that works out. Skäl. David
@@MotoMirius have you checked out Yoshimura exhaust? I heard a 2020 duke 390 and it sounds awesome 😎. Totally bad ass. Not like the aCRAPo..pos does
@@Robocoppat Yoshi pipes are typically good. As to what the best sound is, that has no answer, you like what you like, everyone has a sound that is best. For me I have no interest in what a bike sounds like when it's stationary, I like a bike that sounds good when its being ridden.
@@MotoMirius I agree with you 💯%. I've been looking at installing the Coober cat- delete system. Love your channel.
This might be stupid, but is there any way you can keep the exhaust shield back on the power part exhaust
Anything is possible but it would be very difficult and require a skilled welder. Skäl. David
My question is not relevant to this video but im looking to buy the yoshimura exhaust but it says its for 2017-2022 dukes 390 im wondering whats the difference to a 2022 ktm duke 390 if you know please reply
In around 2021 KTM started to fit a new exhaust system which runs under the engine. In some countries this was not sold until much later. The 2017-2022 fits the exhaust which runs along the side of the engine. If your exhaust runs under the engine then it will not fit.
Hello ..
What size slip on is this please? And would this fit my 2020 ktm duke 125? Thanks
If you check the KTM Powerparts reference number 93505999000 you will see it fits all 125 to 390 Dukes - but not if you have the exhaust which routes under the engine - this takes a modified pipe to fit, but the slip on is I think the same.
Hey David, I have a slip on exhaust and I noticed that I lost a bit of low end torque and I stall more often with the slip on compared to the stock exhaust. Is that bad for the engine?
Hi, depends on the slip on but yes it can happen, especially with the exhausts that are louder. Shouldn't make you stall more but you might want to think about a piggyback if you haven't got one. I only stall the bike when I mess up my clutch control, because then it stalls very easily.
@@MotoMirius thanks for the insight. I have a follow up question, would a Booster plug/rapidbike easy be enough? Or do I go for the full piggyback ecu?
@@Wolfhunter727g6 If its just a slip on, the entry level piggybacks are just fine.
what is the weight of the akrapovic exhaust compared to the stock how much does each one weigh
I haven’t measured either of them but there isn’t much between them. A stubbier and debaffled stock exhaust is probably the lightest. If you are concerned about weight then I suggest you replace the presilencer and cat. Skäl. David
@@MotoMirius So the exaust akrapovic is lighter?
I said that I haven’t weighed them. I also don’t have a stock exhaust.
Rok Bagoros weighted both exhausts on this video, minute 2:31. Hope it helps.

Hi! I just bought a ktm bike. It's a KTM rc 125 2017. I have a blackwidow mid pipe with the slip on Akrapovic. I want to put the old silencers in so i can register the exhaust. I realised soon that i didn't have all the clamps to put the old silencers in. Do you know where i can buy clamps?
You can buy the clamps and seals from your KTM dealer. Skäl. David
Moto Mirius Thank you so much😊
Greetings sir, I have a duke 250, same generation as your 390.
I installed an aftermarket exhaust (slip on).
Now I notice there is a leak in air where the bend pipe connects to the aftermarket exhaust.
Should I be concerned, what are the consequences and what can I do about this ?
Thank you.
Hi. Leaks are not good so best fixed. Two issues. You haven’t fitted it properly - it can be difficult to get a good deal and get the silencer to fit to the bracket. You must fit it loosely first then tighten front to back slowly. Or the seal is damaged and needs replacing. Or you haven’t done the clamp up properly/ tightly. Good luck. Skäl. David
Thank you for your insight sir, always immensely helpful.
Bless you.
Would this fit on my 2021 200 duke? The previous owner took the silencer can off and put a L pipe into the stock pipe lol
If it's the side of the engine version of the header, then yes, it should - they don't sell the 200 here but the part number is the same from memory for both the 125 and 390 versions.
Duke 200 bs 6 version ,... Slip on exhaust possible sir ❓ ,... And exhaust fixed to mileage or some in bike ❓
The BS6 uses a slip on exhaust. Only the gen 1 and the 2024 do not use a slip on. If you have a 2024 then you will need to wait for the aftermarket to design and release products. I do not understand the question about the exhaust being fixed to mileage. If you have a new bike and it under warranty then you are restricted to the KTM products - in this case Akrapovic, unless your dealer agrees (in writing) to the modification.
does anyone know if the akrapovic exhaust designed to fit the 690 duke will also fit on the 390 duke?
I wouldn't be surprised if it did - just check the size of the pipe into the slip on - but you'd still need the 390 link pipe to connect it to the presilencer.
if remove the original exhaust kit . is that good or bad . becouse that exhust sound is nice. plz help
Just taking off the stock slip, and running without it is all bad. The sound is terrible - it's just loud and a flat tone - a good exhaust sound makes the bike sound fast which means it has tone and that tone changes as the bike is revved - this is where a good exhaust designer makes all the difference. It will also not help the performance of the bike, so this is bad too - there is a reason why KTM made the exhaust the length that it is - the RC which is designed for racing, has always had a long exhaust for this reason even with the gen 1 bikes.
@@MotoMirius thankx ❤️
I removed the baffle on my duke 390 but I felt a drop in acceleration and slight drop in top end too. Does that always happen ? I’m guessing it’s due to reduction in back pressure. Is there any solution for this problem?
If you still have the cat and presilencer in place then baffle is unlikely to provide much back pressure. This why it’s important to use a dyno if you care about power to measure what is actually happening rather than what you think is happening. For example it might be a change in fuel mixture not back pressure. Try an idle reset and let the bike relearn the new configuration. Skäl. David
Moto Mirius yes you’re right my bike seems to be running lean as there is a lot of backfire and popping. I thought it was because of removing the baffle
But after I swapped my exhaust to the stock with baffle this solved my power and backfire issue and doesn’t seem to run lean
With a decatted bike, power is normally best with the baffle in because of the back pressure. Popping is unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust which isn't normally a sign of running lean. On my decatted bike, it will rarely pop with the baffle in but pops a lot with the baffle out - however this is normal behaviour with straight through pipes and is one of the primary functions of the baffle - it's why in some parts of the world, the baffle is called a "spark arrestor" not a baffle or DB killer.
What was the old exhaust brand that we listened to at 5:50??? I thought it sounded great myself!
Old exhaust is a debaffled stubby stock exhaust. They do sound great. I have videos on how that can be done. Skäl. David
@@MotoMirius - Grateful Sir!
@@MotoMirius there is a video of a guy with his 390 Duke and he says he just eliminated the exhaust all together and you can see and hear that is what he did in the video. I did not know it would be OK to do that. I had mine off and loved the sound but I thought this was maybe not good for the bike or the motor. But what do I know? Not much!
@@JQUICK21 Highly not recommended. If you want a louder exhaust then decat and remove the primary silencer, but be prepared to fit a piggyback ECU. There are videos on all this on my channel.
@@MotoMirius yes sir
So its connected to stock exhaust?
Yes. It is a simple replacement of the stock silencer with no other changes made or necessary - this is a KTM part made for them by Akrapovic.
Hi sir. What sealant did you put on the elbow? Thanks
I used a black silicone exhaust sealant. I prefer to replace the gasket. Skäl David
@@MotoMirius can i use gasket sealant?
@@zairelbico8071 If you use enough, yes, but it's designed for a proper seal, so i'd recommend simply buying one from your dealer - they aren't expensive.
Moto Mirius thank you sir.
How to seperate akrapovic in 2 parts like in this video??
To get this piece of tube from 4:21
Would this fir on my Benelli bn125?
Only if it has the same fitting, which seems unlikely.
What mm rivets do you suggest?
I recommend that you measure your own if you want the OEM look - mine did not come with OEM rivets as the previous owner had replaced them - with the wrong rivets.
18:20 Bien sur que non ça ne sature pas ! Je vais du coup pouvoir upload !
Mieux avec un DB killer avec le décat! Trop fort pour la police ici. Skäl David
Anyone here knows if the same akrapovic pipe can fit both duke 125 and 390 ? 2017 model above
Yes, it fits both - part number is the same (mine was previously fitted on a 125). Only the header pipe and cat are different between 125 and 390, presilencer and silencer are the same. Skäl David
Thanks sO much man for the reply ! Looks like I’m getting it ! Woots ! 🙌🏻
Is that original akrapovic or replica ??
That akrapovic sounds awesome
It's original. I don't fit replica parts as a matter of principle because I don't support criminals and the criminal activities that go with replica parts. If you are patient you can normally find original parts like this being sold second hand in good condition at a good discount from the new price.
@@MotoMirius that's wat I can't seem to find it so I asking Ur help , and by the way KTM website sell power parts and Akrapovic exhaust to how to buy those ?
There is no buy options on the KTM official website
@@itsgyaltsen Akrapovic only sells its exhausts for KTM through KTM. So you have to buy from a KTM dealer as with any other PowerPart. So you have to either buy from your local KTM dealer of from a KTM dealer website.

I can’t really tell the difference mate, only being honest.
It does sound much the same on the video. In real life it’s a little louder and the tone is a little different. I need to find a better way of recording. But, would I pay that much for a new one? 🤔. Skäl. David
thats a 125 stop saying that its a 390 to make yourself look better
😂 People who know their Dukes can tell if it’s a 125 or a 390. It’s all in the colours.
Moto Mirius so?? Do you admit it
Admit what? That it’s a 390? If you seriously think that it’s a 125 then I suggest two courses of action. Check out my first videos of the bike. Check Google images of the 125 and 390 and pay close attention to the frame colours.
Moto Mirius it literally says 125 on the side
The friends I ride with have the same one
This is monkey business...loosen and thighten 2 screws in a 20min video.
Easy when you know how. Not so easy when you've never touched a spanner to a bike. Most people, new to exhausts, struggle with fitment not with the bolts.
