If Gigantoraptor is basically a big bird, does that mean Big Bird is a Gigantoraptor?
Don’t mention that junkie in my presence....
I'd peg him as more of an elephant bird
I think canonically he’s a canary. I assume that means the Manhattan Canary can be added to the list of ‘Island Gigantism’ species.
Kelenken.
🤔 ☝️😐
Why is this oviraptor so large?
Gigantoraptor: I eat 2 dozen eggs every morning to help me get laarggee
No one bashes people's skulls like Gigantoraptor, no one is tough as Gigantoraptor
No one's neck is as T H I C C as Gigantoraptor!
I mean, it IS roughly the size of a baaaaarge!
But now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs
And every last inch of it is covered in *FEATHERS*
I genuinely liked how BBC's planet dinosaur depicted them, also as a genuine parents.
These guys were huge, like scaring the tyrannosaurids away - huge!
@@xanderomeister7828 These Giga's were likely apex predators, more dominant than tyrannosaurids
@@xanderomeister7828 don't fall for it he's baiting you don't make the same mistake I have made in the past he has no credible evidence to back up what he says he just downplays Tyrannosaurus whenever he can just smile and wave.

Charcarodontosaurus were belong to a *different* clade/group of Theropod Species, Charcharodontosaurus is actually more related to Spinosaurus; rather than Tyrannosaurus
The DORUK you stooping down to that level says a lot.
@@exaltedgrind4729 May I dare to ask Why? Do you care to eloborate a little? Does answering to people is a harsh condition? A bad act of faith?
Why?
Imagine if they actually had the aggression of a lot of modern-day ground-dwelling birds. That'd be a nightmare.
Play 'Carnivores'. The Gigantoraptor in the game has the aggressive behavior of the Tyrannosaurus, with more agility and they spawn in greater numbers.
Try the 'Dino destroyer' channel.
Like a huge goose 🪿 chasing after you!
probably more omnivorous too
Gigantoraptor is so underrated no one really talks about it and it's my 3rd favourite dinosaur
@@teetywoo3156 I think you smoked to much
did you hear about Archaeoindris? It was a giant Lemur as big as a modern Gorilla and nobody talked about it!
All everyone talks about raptors and T. rex. Boring! Oviraptors are the true mvps.
@Fray Jay I was wondering the same thing 😂
@Fray Jay2nd suchomimus 1st spinosauruaus
Jurassic Park kid: "That doesn't sound very scary! More like, a 15-foot turkey."
Well turkeys might not be so bad; have you ever tangled with an angry goose or swan? They will kick you butt.
"He moves like a bird, lightly moving his head. And you keep still because you think that maybe his visual acuity is based on movement like the Jurassic Park T-Rex, he'll lose you if you don't move. But no, not Gigantoraptor. You stare at him, and he just squawks right back. And that's when the attack comes."
Wouldn't you be afraid of a 15ft turkey ? Of course you would. 🙄
15 foot egg-eating turkeys

2:18 Gigantoraptors may have been carnivorous or may have supplemented their diet like hadrosaurs ( now known to eat crabs, crayfish, etc) to sustain a fast metabolism required for fast growth. Meat is usually much more calorie dense.
I wonder if Giantoraptor would have regarded humans the same way that deer regard baby birds and other small animals…😉
There chould be a possibility that gigantoraptor beaks were hooked
Whoa that's my paleoart at the end! Also, great video. I didn't know much about these fellas, but I always wanted to know more
@Please Complete All Fields the very end!

There also might be aerodynamic benefits to arm feathers NOT related to obtaining lift, like how ostriches use their wings when turning, both to alter balance and differential drag.

0:12 That's so freaking cute
It's fascinating watching the portrayal of dinosaurs change over the decades. When I was a kid they were all shown with scaly or leathery skin that was usually some shade of green or such. But now I see them sprouting with bright feathers of different colors. It is incredible
I imagine Gigantoraptor was an omnivore with herbivorous leanings. People forget that omnivorous animals don't eat equal amounts of plant and animal matter, the diets of most omnivores is mostly plant matter, with over 80% in some species. Black bears for example it is 80% plants, 15% insects and only 5% meat.
This. Carnivory is incredibly energy-intensive.
Theriomancer, and just like when that bear decides it wants meat, watch out!
Its like the parrot of the dinosaurs
I love the way the oviraptor looks like a cassowary bird in 6:08
What if oviraptorosaurs were still able to eat eggs. Squirrels are apparently capable of eating bird chicks and eggs, and some oviraptorosaurs had a bony spike in their mouths.
Edit: I know they looked after their own eggs, by the way.
To be fair robbing other bird species nests is actually kinda common among modern birds since calcium is a precious commodity so it certainly is possible
One of my chickens was practically beak to nose with a squirrel this morning.
Blue Jays and Crows eat eggs and baby chicks. Different types of song birds will gang up to chase them away.
I think that most predatory dinosaurs would have eaten eggs because nowadays, a lot of animals eat eggs. Even herbivores do it. Stealing eggs is not a special behavior.
Strong beak for seeds? What seeds? Coconuts?
Very probably it was a generalist and a scavenger and the beak was for crushing bones...
My thoughts were leaning towards scavenger too. Kind of like how we now think T-Rex might have ambushed some easy prey but more likely just fought off competitors for any fresh roadkill haha.
Your skull.
@@gregoryfenn1462 Most paleontologists don't believe that, they believe that T. rex (not T-Rex) was likely an opportunistic predator that hunted for its prey when it needed to but wasn't above chasing off smaller predators or scavenging a carcass. In other words, it probably acted like a present day lion or hyena does now a days and is neither exclusively predator or scavenger, or kill stealer.
@@Riceball01 ITs actually a pretty logical assumption as many animals that hunt won't pass up a free or easy meal. Its only some species that pass up because their normally not able to handle possible diseases.
@@AngelEmfrbl I never said that they wouldn't pass up a free meal. What I said is that most paleontologists vies the T. rex as an opportunistic predator like lions and hyenas, meaning that they mostly hunt but at the same time, not above scavenging or chasing off smaller predators from their kills.
That was fascinating! Surprised that there is not more mainstream discussion about this lineage of dinosaurs. Thanks for the info and wonderful illustrations.
Am I glad these gigantic cassowary like dinosaurs don't exist anymore.Normal cassowarys are frightening as it is.
Oh, I would love to raise and care for these critters
Long feathers on the front legs/arms could have been used to help it maintain it's balance when turning direction while running
I love how passionate you are about these magnificent creatures. Thanks for the upload, learned something new today!
Finally Gigantoraptor gets some love!!
I have a feeling that the Gigantoraptor was probably an omnivore. it probably
ate both plant and animal material in its diet. thanks for doing a video on these
beautiful and wonderful members of the dinosaur family!!
I love these illustrations, really great work!
Me: "How did you get so big Gigantoraptor?!"
Gigantoraptor: 3:35 "I dooooon't knoooow"
I'm loving the reappraisals of the extent and colours of all the dinosaurs. There is obviously so much still to learn.
Thanks for featuring my piece!
3:39 well Susan if I knew you were going out maybe I wouldn't have left the eggs alone!!
Very informative video. Want to see more dinosaur content in the near future. keep up the good work
Yutyrannus is an animal that is capable of reaching sizes more than a tonne and some could even reach 2 tonnes in weight (Which is similar to Gigantoraptor size) and they have been found to have feathers. So, the argument of dinosaurs being too big for feathers seems to be quite invalid in this case. Personally I'd find it very odd for Gigantoraptor to not have feathers, especially since it's pretty bird like in the first place.
I thought of a title for the Dunkleosteus video. How does “The Nightmare Fish” sound to you?
Not as good as “God’s Staple Remover”.
How about devil fish

I LOVE THIS CHANNEL, top 5 favorite dinosaur
Wow! That’s awesome! One of my new favs!
That was just amazing, thanks.
Even if this thing was herbivorious, I think it could still stab and mutilate your body using its feet and claws
Cassowary have sharp claws that can rip you to shred but are herbivore.
In a world of shit that would tear you up on sight I wouldn't blame it.
Herbivore also doesn't mean never eats meat. Deer will devour unguarded eggs and nestlings, for example.
Patrick McCurry gigantoraptor would probably eat small animals if it got the chance to, maybe it also ate bones(cracked them open and ate the marrow)?
its impossible to make me angry other deer species have been observed gnawing on bones and occasionally eating bird chicks, and crocs have been seen eating nuts
Ever since I saw them in Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter, these guys have always been one of my favs
This is honestly one of my favorite dinosaurs
The artwork makes it even more 'real'. I can totally imagine a giant oviraptor walking the plains of Africa or Australia
Amazing work!

Anybody ever watch that old dinosaur special hosted by Christopher Reeve? I watched it like every day as a kid and I'll never forget the scene where dyanicus eats the eggs. I love dinosaur art so much more than anything. Always great art on this channel!!

What an awesome discovery!

Just love the use of a cat for reference in the picture at 5:30 :-P
I love seeing how Dinos should have looked; not the lizard like misconceptions of them! Completely changes your perspective on the creatures 👌
Fun fact: there is a french paleontology channel on youtube named Motorsport Gigantoraptor, hosted by a kid that mostly debunks pseudo-science and sometimes does science news.
This channel was massively pushed by the youtube algorithm last year, prompting a trolling campaign that included antisemitic insults, because that kid also happens to be the son of a former first lady and a mediatic philosopher.
lol a lot of people seem to think that I am responsible for the bullying campaign that targeted this kid (which made national news). Telling me to kill myself does not make you good guys, you know.

0:27 Hey, I remember that magazine series.
Gigantoraptor's are nightmare fuel, and I love them all the more for it. Other than clips here and there, like Planet Dinosaur, it's hard to come across full length documentaries of this behemoth; and it sucks.

Can you do one video on the therizinosaurus family?
Before watching the video I’m guessing this is about one of my all time favourite dinosaurs the oviraptor?
Awesome, unique, interesting, and I personally think absolutely bloody terrifying looking. Demon, dragon parrot
Fascinating creatures. I notice that a lot of paleo-artists choose to model the colouration of these dinosaurs on Cassowaries. I wonder how valid that is.
you heard it here folks big bird is a young gigantoraptor.
The kind of feathers dinosaurs didn't trap heat like fur. Instead they helped regulate body heat and would of cooled the animal down thus Gigantoraptor could of had feathers.
Dam I didn't know the indivudal which was discovered was 11 years old

Please cover Rauisuchians! I think that they are underrepresented, which is a shame considering that they both morphologically and taxonomically are a mix between crocodiles and dinosaurs. I cannot remember the last time I saw anyone take a look any genera other than postosuchus or saurosuchus.
I wish they added gigantoraptor in ark and the isle. There's a mod for ark that has it but it's not officially in the game and I don't know if there's any plans to put it in the isle.
