    After fully cleaning the airless pump I'll also put the housing and tip back on and blow them out with the clean water. Perfectly clean for the next time as well. Nice video for sure!

    The liquid in the pump is actually the lubrication for the pump plunger seals. Running the pump dry, is not healthy for the pump. Also, warm water greatly aids in flushing the pump, hoses and gun.

I did like this video and I hope that after I am familiar with this machines idiosyncrasies I will be able to use this machine without too much hassle. All and all looks like a certified PIA to get this equipment ready to paint and clean. I need three bucket and more tips

    Hi, using solvent-based primer with a 290pc graco, is cleaning with nitro-type diluent sufficient for cleaning or is it recommended to wash with water before storing the pump?

    • @threepointservices-tractor4832
      @threepointservices-tractor4832 Před 2 lety

      Water is actually an enemy of the spray pump. The interior portion of the pump shaft is carbon steel, and water will cause pitting in the pump shaft, if it sits unused for a period of time. I spray with epoxy coating systems, and clean up with petroleum based solvent. No need to follow up with water.

    Don’t u damage the pump , when you empty it, and fill it with air ( prior to pump armor ? ) i heard some people juste dilute pump armor into clean water , and store it as is . Just bought one And îm kinda scared to burn it ^^.

    What exactly will the pump armour do?

    • @SprayDirect

      naveed khan the pump armour is a lubricant and anti-freeze solution. When used it helps prevent corrosion and helps prevent joints bursting due to freezing when being stored over winter.

      I actually don't leave any water in unit at all...I disconnect the hose flush out water and squirt a few drops of oil thru pump.......water destroys everything and if it sits for any length of time its not good.....if your using it in next day or so fine but I leave my airless sprayer open and dry from now on.....

      I have 100 square meters to paint with masonry paint - bought an erbauer sprayer yesterday, first time using it and first time I tested it and I just thought "I hate this damn thing". Just with emulsion it took forever to get the water to run clean. The handle doesn't come off either, the nuts have been fastened so tight. Spanners, wrenches, buckets, hoses, water everywhere, I am ready for taking it outside and sledge hammering it to pieces!

    • @SprayDirect
      @SprayDirect  Před 4 lety +5

      Aaron Wilson personally I prefer to use warm to hot water as I believe it does help break down more stubborn residue but, also in the middle of winter on site, it’s a bit more friendlier on the hands, unfortunately hot water isn’t always available.

    • @noslrak2000
      @noslrak2000 Před 4 lety +2

      How about a little bit of washing up liquid (make sure you don't contaminate your paint with it). It breaks up paint residue very well.

    • @mikeparker5008
      @mikeparker5008 Před 3 lety +1

      @@noslrak2000 I will flush the system, then I run some water & dishwashing liquid thru the pump...then another thorough rinse. This keeps my Graco good for a few weeks until I need it again. If I need to store it for longer, I use pump armor.
