    Her jauhar makes sense if you look at Khilji's character. Historically, he is said to have been a necrophile. If she just killed herself, Khilji would not have even spared her dead body. Hence the jauhar because while he killed her husband by deceit, she had the last laugh by not even letting him see her dead body. And the other women joining in also because he would have taken his anger out on them. It's not just about pride, it's about defeating the villain in ways that would destroy him at a much deeper level.

      @Moonmoon Pati Apparently he was bisexual, a paedophile and a necrophile. I read in one article "Ostensibly, the main reason for Jauhar-Shaka was to avoid rape, dishonour and enslavement, perhaps even necrophilia by the invading Muslim armies. The horrific accounts of the Arab invasion of Sindh in the eighth century might have been well-known."

      Jesus, guys, give it a break. From where all you get such stupid information? Alauddin was neither a necrophile nor a bisexual. The whole story of Alauddin and Malik Kafur was based on some stupid historian who gave it a little twist and now its all over the news. Alauddin was that man who saved 'Hindoostan' from the burning rages of Mongols. The whole market system that is based on today was a gift of Alauddin's intelligent mind. Yes, Jauhar happened. That's the price one has to pay in war but vilifying someone without having proper knowledge is plain stupid.

      This is just a poem and not reality. If it were real, then don't forget that khilji was supposed to be one of the best warriors of his time. He would've killed the king undeceitfully.

    • @mravina1614
      @mravina1614 Před 4 lety +18

      @@notyourfriend-li7rq reality or otherwise, the point is that the johar adds up because of what is said about Khilji. He was said to have been a necrophiliac. The same is accused of invading armies from the north. If he was as you say one of the best warriors, then I guess she knew her husband would die and was ready to die instead of living as a slave under Khilji. And did so in a johar so as not to leave a body for him to find because he would've even abused the dead body.

      @Ksjs Jdjdb "Jauhar, sometimes spelled Jowhar or Juhar, was a Hindu(Rajput) practice of mass self-immolation by women, or otherwise execution by their husbands, fathers or brothers, in India, to avoid capture, enslavement and rape by an invading Islamic army, when facing certain defeat during a war. Some reports of jauhar mention women committing self-immolation along with their children.This practice was historically observed in northwest regions of India, with most famous jauhars in recorded history occurring during wars between Hindu Rajput kingdoms in Rajasthan and the opposing muslim armies. However jauhar is performed during war, usually when there was no chance of victory. The practice was accompanied by saka, or a last stand in battle."

    You chose the right clip..and you have watched the movie.... Many people who are doing reaction videos are not getting it right...
    The history says Rajput Jauhar happened twice in the same Chittor fort.. Many such incidents of sacrifices have happened all over India when there was an attack on "Dharma" - virtue of righteousness
    Those who stand by Dharma will be protected by the Dharma itself

      Yeah everyone make movies that show just rajput valor and bravery (they clearly haven't shown the good side of Muslim rulers, just Hindus....no hate at all I love my hindu brothers and sisters my best friend is a hindu for 10 years.....no denying they weren't...proud of our history....but they haven't made a movie about the courage and bravery of Muslim kings but just showed how horny they were by marrying multiple etc.

    There’s nothing controversial about the climax nor it’s portraying any community weak or strong.. the Mughal empire invaded India and we were defending them.. When the king invades all the royal women are abducted n put in harem to avoid such insult they did sacrifice their lives.. Controversy was tht SLB might portray khilji n padmavati relationship in a bad way.. read the history..

    simply put:
    This was war
    The king was defeated by the enemy
    So when the enemy invaded the fort, all the women there committed mass suicide (real story)
    It was either suicide or being raped and ravaged or sold as slaves etc.

    There are lots of comments that it is based on book by a author. Please understand, Authors of all times would write history of those times which were handed down up to one or maybe two generations. Its the same as William Shakespere writing Julius Ceaser which is true incident but history portrayed in the form of play. Same goes for Rani Jhansi whose bravery was written down in poetry form by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan ( Budele harbolo ke mukh hamne suni kahanee thi: khoob ladi mardani woh to Jhansi wali rani thi.....). So doubters ( mostly brown Indians, english medium and christian school educated, and communists) need to introspect.
