My question isn't so much "would it work", cuz I think it would, I wonder if they would make more money from it. Whether it would be worth the price reduction plus time spent on remastering old games, rather than using that same time to crank out more expensive games that are guaranteed to do well.
Well I think it depends on the game. Breath of the Wild made its costs back 6 times. And that was a massive game for them. So I’d imagine a smaller game would make really good profits even if it only sold like 5 mil. And considering they can crank out more of those at a time, they would be good supplements while they work on bigger stuff.
While it's logical that selling games for less will lead to more sales I doubt Nintendo's hubris will allow it. When you have a home run machine you're no concerned with signals and doubles and Nintendo is basically Casey at the bat.
Leave it to Nintendo to milk the fans for all they got until they realize they are alienating new people to some of these series. I haven't played splatoon yet for the sole reason that it never drops in price!
You know what will be funny? When the next game Releases, Splatoon 1. 2 and 3 will all be digitally available for full price. So the first game that’ll be 7 years old at that point will cost the same as the newest entry.
