    Thank you for making this very useful video. One thing I’m really worried about is rain because I will be going in May. You didn’t mention rain gears. Could you please comment what will be a good choice? If your shoes get wet, what do you do to prevent blisters ?

    Thank you for the packing video. I just got that pack and I think I’m going to like it, but I haven’t used it yet, so I’ll see. Of course, the fit and comfort of a pack is an individual preference. I hope it works for me, but it’s too bad you weren’t comfortable with your pack. That’s a long journey to be saddled with a pack that you don’t really care for.

      Yes, you may find that it works well for you! I hope you like it. It turned out okay for me because I ended up using Jacotrans and sending my bag ahead a few times. Thanks for your comment and I hope you have a wonderful Camino! ♥️

    You didn't like your backpack... can you elaborate as to what you didn't like, or what you'd prefer in the next one. Fantastic videos, and we loved tagging along. Thanks

    • @jenontherunn
      @jenontherunn  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes… at the time I purchased, I was looking primarily based on my budget at the time. I got the backpack on sale during REI’s Memorial Day sale for about $95. It is a decent pack, but I think if I were to do it again, I’d invest more in a bag because it’s really worth it. I would go with an ultra-light version with a suspended mesh ventilated back panel which helps keep you cool. Admittedly, I didn’t research it much before I left and learned the hard way. Lmk if you have any more questions!

    Hey Jen! Thanks for the insights. How were your shoes in the rain? I ran into torrential downpours on several days the closer I got to Santiago.

    • @jenontherunn
      @jenontherunn  Před 4 měsíci

      They held up well! Good in the mud. I didn’t slip. I didn’t get torrential rain, fortunately, so I can’t say how waterproof the shoes are. On the occasions it did rain, though, usually my poncho covered me and also kept my shoes dry. My socks were never wet

    Thanks so much. While a guy, I appreciate the insights. One question. Since i will be walking in July, I am curious about the weather. I live in Phoenix, so used to warm weather, however, thought I would start the warmer days early in the morning. Question, what was the coolest temperature in the morning? Thanks so much. Buen Camino

    • @jenontherunn
      @jenontherunn  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Thank you for your comment! I’m glad you found the video helpful. Yes, on very hot days, it’s better to start anytime before 7:15am. Typically in the mornings it’s quite cool, a chilly, dry 65F degrees. Typically I would wear a long sleeve shirt with a tshirt underneath. I also eventually purchased a fleece in O Cebreiro, but could’ve used it earlier on. Let me know if that helps answer your question/if there’s anything I can help elaborate on. Buen Camino!

    What’s the name of the guidebook you carried?

      @jenontherunn  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi! It's the "A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino de Santiago (Camino Francés)" by John Brierley. It's one of the two most popular guidebooks for the Camino Frances: amzn.to/3tmcCZw

    What brand is your bag liner? What does it weigh? Thanks

    • @jenontherunn
      @jenontherunn  Před 4 měsíci

      My sleeping bag liner is by Marycrafts and it cost $42. Looks like the one I bought is sold out. Here is a similar one: amzn.to/3tTuQCo It weighs 4.3oz and is 100% silk at a similar price. Buen Camino!

    What was your fully loaded pack’s weight? Looks like about 25 pounds or so.

      @jenontherunn  Před 3 měsíci

      It came to 20 lbs! Too heavy!

    • @kitty_s23456
      @kitty_s23456 Před 2 měsíci

      @RC - others have said that it's best to keep it at ~10% of your body weight. (unless you're a vlogger/ filmmaker & you need camera equipment)

  • @RC-qf3mp
    @RC-qf3mp Před 3 měsíci +3

    Keep it under 10 lbs or you’ll get beat up and on day 1 up the mountain and then get blisters and need to use a pack transport service. Nobody needs a pack over 10 lbs on the Camino.

  • @craigkimble1467
    @craigkimble1467 Před 5 měsíci

    What didn't u like about your pack?

    • @jenontherunn
      @jenontherunn  Před 4 měsíci

      It wasn't super breathable -- I noticed that other pilgrims had a mesh panel that creates air flow, separating your back from the actual pack. I think that breathability would be crucial for super hot days -- worth the investment.

    Are you asking us questions or stating facts? Also, I would recommend not titling your videos towards women. You eliminate half of your potential audience. Feel free to give specific advice to women in the videos but you are only hurting yourself by excluding men. The Camino is for everyone.
