The Lurch Audio Ergot uses the legendary Harmonic Percolator as its jumping off point, employing a 2n404a germanium transistor and a modern silicon transistor to create that classic squish, zing, and dirty clang the HP is known for. But from that point Ergot is an entirely unique beast, having more in common with wild, unhinged fuzzes like the Fuzz Factory. Key to this is its onboard feedback loop, engaged via the dedicated F/B footswitch, and then further tweaked via the F/B knob, as well as the lovely copper wheat fronds on the faceplate of the pedal, which are not only decorative, but also functional, serving as touch pads for sending Ergot deeper into oscillating chaos and discord. Internal trimpots allow for setting up two different feedback loops, which can then be selected via a mini-toggle on the face of the pedal. Additional features include two kinds of diode clipping (or no diode clipping at all, if you wish), two selectable gain ranges, a very musical tone control (allowing Ergot to be extremely rad on bass), and enough output to choke a horse.
