I was great fan of irfan... But to be honest he was in decline by the time of this test.... He got wickets becuz the pitch has so much of juice... Had prime irfan pathan been there... He would hv split aussie batting right in centre....

i was in third standard(aged 8 years) at that time and the day was saturday, my parents took me to the wedding of one of our distant relative, .While my cousins were playing with balloons, i just ended up watching the test match in the security guard's room, on what today's kids will call a Dabba TV.

One thing that was so good about Sachin Tendulkar throughout his career was that he always used to look to put pressure on the bowlers no matter how tough the pitch or quality of bowling unit was.Defending good balls and respecting the match situation is one thing but he never really used to go in a shell of only defending balls to not get out.

Well, he did that one time that I remember. Against Pakistan in 2005/06 to save a game. He almost played the game out by just defending! Almost! It was not Tendulkarish for sure. It was like Dravid playing in Tendulkar's body!!
I'd forgotten that Ishant Sharma was very young when he made his test match debut for India. He was still playing for India in the last test series they played in England in 2022.

I think they know man. We have nostalgia yes, and our time was different. Couple generation before us there were no ODI's and older generations would have thought the same about us. I remember watching this match live in January of 2008. What a time it was for cricket. Australia was starting to lose their grip on being unbeatable and this Indian side was impressive as well. Watching back, its incredible how great of a slip fielder Rahul Dravid was.
When you think Andrew Symonds was the main villian for spoiling the spirit of the game in that series! Than you realise that the guy is no more😓😓

It absolutely is, you said today's Aussie team is nowhere near Waugh or Ponting's team, but you also forgot that Indian test team of current era especially in terms of batting is nowhere near as powerful as 2000s Indian team.
What made 2020-21 Ind vs Aus series special was it was a rare occasion in history of cricket, that a less powerful visiting team(Indian team of 2020-21) defeating a more powerful Aus team in their home conditions. India was clearly the weaker team that series & still won.
Not even close, 2017 Ind vs Aus series in India was a fantastic series, played on some really tough pitches, rank turners.
2014-15 series in Aus despite the scoreline saying 2-0 was a pretty competitive series.

My favourite test win in Australia, even though India won consecutive test series in Australia including the legendary Brisbane test , but this win was special because of so many reasons , first to win a test match in the fastest pitch in the world ( the only asian country to do so), second to win a test match after being cheated in the second test , monkeygate scandal , india's dignity and respect was hampered but this win managed to heal those pain
Also defeating that Australia team twice ( Adelaide 2003)& Perth (2008) in their country and winning the subsequent CB Tri Series was a special and memorable effort by ICT

Australia with three genuine fast bowlers and one seam bowler. No spinner (only a part-timer). India with two swing bowlers, a seam bowler and a spinner. Keeping in mind the WACA pitch, more teams would have prefered to the former combination.
Acc to fear factor among opponents Harbajjan is best spiner , He might be average on records in paper. So if we rank according to fear factor then Harbajan>Bedi>Ash>Kumble. If we account the allround abilities in test the Ashwin is greatest spin allrounder in tests for India , and Kapil dev is all time greatest bowling allrounder.

Ganguly is a medium pace bowler..And never seen laxman bowl..

Irfan pathan was really a gem for india in test cricket during those days. A left handed pacer who could get india wickets with new ball and could score runs this playing the role of an all rounder. That's why he was compared to Jacque Kallis in test during those days
