I appreciate you always telling us what equipment you use without shoving the product down our throat like sponsored videos.
Well, at least you'll be able to build a dog house you can sleep in with your $1500 Pocket Hole jig. Thanks for the video.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😀
....and cut the material with his $200 saw blade!
Lol!
Those Pocket hole jig machines are ridiculously expensive.
I love how much you go into detail about a blade. Thanks. Going to make the FS blade my next new blade.
Maybe, I’ll get this new blade for Mother’s Day! That would be great!
Dude, i love watching your vids. You're come across as a humble and honest person plus you're top dog at what you do.
God bless ya.
Had a forrest chop master, its super heavy and was wobbly an vibrated quite a bit. I have been running a 96 tooth CMT. Barely any tear out, you can cut molding upside down, doesn't mater were the finish side is facing. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Very helpful info, keep doing what you do I’ve been watching for 3 years and I have shirts,VERY REAL AND DOWN TO EARTH
Love ur channel man I learned a lot from u and even began to get into carpentry building custom closets. Ur a good teacher bro keep up the good work.
Great job! I appreciate the analysis and comparisons. I will check that FSTool blade out. Thanks, Richard!
Definitely find a good blade sharpening service. You can get a sharpening done for a fraction of new and can re-sharpen multiple times.
Call any tool and die shop in the area, talk to a foreman and ask for a recommendation. They are all over the place but unknown to the average person. The geometry on that blade is not ordinary. Find someone who will take the time to match the factory settings not just grind it like every blade that comes in the door. I would say you could get a blade sharpened for about $65.
There is a mom and pop place near me that sharpens my blades as good as new... they charge me $50 bucks. I use pro blades not Diablo.
@RickReviews should be someone in your area. Make sure they sharpen with a CNC. Our just mail them to W.D. Quinn Saw in St Louis they inspect, repair, resurface, then sharpen.
FS Tool blades have a larger carbide insert that you can get at least 3 sharpenings out of. Average price is around .50¢ a tooth. Tool dealers topically know who sharpens if not talk to machine shops in the area.
@RickReviews Insider Carpentry (Spencer Lewis) recommended W.D. Quinn Blade Sharpening Service in his "Blades - Things I Wish I Knew Before" video. He mails them in, and the service looks impressive and reasonably priced, though I have zero experience myself.
Thanks for the info Richard, really enjoying your videos. I’ve definitely stepped up my trim work with your great tips. Just an observation, you might want to check into the Traxx knee pads from your local flooring supply store, I’m a flooring installer and I’ve got the single strap ones, they don’t bunch up and are the best ones I’ve ever used.
I used a full kerf blade on a miter saw recently and its like magic lol its like you feel that extra rotational mass and it just cuts like butter.
Nice you're staying true without sponsors. Respect!
Thicker blade seems to have a little more inertia behind it. Can definitely tell the difference when using the FS blade. Feels way more substantial. Also doesn’t leave red streaks on everything! Thanks for the awesome videos! Love this channel!
"I dont like building things, I like to buy the tools" I think we can all relate to this on some level. I hate shopping...except for tools lol
I do millwork install and you need a blade with a thick plate when doing compound mitres in dense material for nice cuts. If you want to go a little cheaper, I suggest CMT's line of industrial blades.
Richard, Loving the opening scene, absolutely awesome!
I guess we all have the same addiction. And wife’s hahahaha
Vince, you know the one who dies with the most tools wins, right.
Vince(the tool man himself) I love how you support other channels! Great look brother!
I came here to say the same thing, great intro! Now I want to try the FS blade. Love the vids Richard!
I love your channel man. I am thinking I want to get into this carpentry, it seems pretty fun and pleasing. I am investing into my tools as I go and I think I am just as addicted to tools as you are haha!
Rich the opening is awesome, very informative thanks
Based on your high praise of them a few videos back, I ordered and just received a WindsorOne sample pack. I'm looking forward to ordering the necessary pieces for my upcoming home reno. While I was talking to the rep on the phone, I talked you up and recommended you, so maybe WO will sponsor you and your great videos!
nice tower of milwaukee packout! lol. I love how you use dewalt as the most visible tool! Black and yellow! Great vid
Just a note to add blade kerf aka thickness really comes into play when used on a tablesaw with riving guide or knife. Because some people out there will use a miter saw blade designed for the miter saw on a tablesaw, and a thin kerf blade with a thicker sized riving knife will cause kickback and possible damage or loss of fingers to a person or persons in the area
miter saws and table saws use the exact same blades.
100%. I think the same with Table saws, I know the battery tools prefer a thin Kerf blade, but a thick meaty blade wont deflect as easy. At the end of the day I'll take a slower cut with a wider kerf over a thin blade that zips on through
Thanks for making this video. I needed this EXACT video. I couldn't find one where someone was doing a review on a 100 T 12" blade. Most people have 10" miter saws so I guess 12" dudes don't have much to go by on CZcams. Until ur video. Big thumbs up 👍🏽
I was told by a guy older than me: You are only as good as your tools, I live by that so good for you!
Props for using the product for 8 months before putting out a product review. Seen too many vids on people saying how great(or bad) a product is just after unboxing it and trying it for like 5 minutes, it’s like really? Gives me complete confidence in your reviews.
If you change your mind on sponsorships I could send you some boxes of paper clips all I ask is that you have my face painted on the hoods of your work trucks 🤷🏼♂️.
Great videos, I’ve learned so much from your channel keep up the great work
Thank you
Forrest blades all the way in my shop. I use my diablo blades for long runs of cutting stuff that doesnt require super clean cuts.
Hey, thanks for the info regarding FS Tool blades…. Cheers from Canada
Thank you, thank you and thanks again. i had a freud blade that burnt all my cuts and cut curved edges. i've only used the original dewalt blade and a freud blade (both disappointing) i was about to buy a dewalt blade when i came across your video. i went to the fs website and read the stats on their different blades. i returned the dewalt blade and ordered a 50 tooth fs blade. the fs blade is amazing. it's one of the best things i've ever bought.
I always liked the flex in the blade makes hair cuts easy.
I love you honesty! greetings from Belgium!!!!!
Nice drone shots!
It’s $200 now on Amazon. Don’t want to cut a nail with that one!
I so admire your humility.
I think one of the reasons i got clipped with a kick back was cause of the thin kerf blade on my tablesaw im excited to see this blade is full size kerf and im looking forward to get one thanks for your reviews
For thin kerf blades, you can add blade stiffeners to help prevent bending. The thin kerf is a good option for low powered saws. Another nice benefit on table saw is, it produces about half the dust.
yeah i switched to a thin kerf to get more power out of batteries, faster cuts and less saw dust.
Worked in a cabinet shop for ten years. We used FS blades and they are def the best. In the field I use Diablo so I can toss them. Getting the FS's resharpened was a pain in my area.
“Yea but……it just doesn’t work that good anymore” 😂
Totally bought a pocket hole jig because of you. AMAZING!
Thanks for the good, better best! Always appreciate
FS Tool and Forrest are both top notch.
And Forrest sharpening service is _at least_ as good as new. 👍
Chop-Master blades are available in a couple of thicknesses and ATB with positive or negative rake.
I love the ranting! Don’t hesitate to rant. I learn a lot that way.
Buddy, I really liked your intro music. Good info.
1:10 I strive to have my wife recognize a Kregg pocket hole jig. Holy smokes you're a blessed guy!
Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
I had this conversation with my local Retailer. His take on a full curved blade is that they are for higher horsepower shop machines. Not for jobsite tools like a 10 inch miter saw.
The camera work in this video was great!
We found the camera guyz youtube account right here. Lol
@@jgoody7467 you are not funny.
As a cabinetmaker I like beefy carbide as it will take more sharpenings.
FS Tool blades are the only way to go.
They last forever and cut so well.
If you’re strictly doing trim, they are worth it. If you’re cutting mixed, Diablo is good enough.
Love my Forrest CM and WW blades for a long time. Out being sharpened as we speak :-). It’s well worth spending your money on a quality blade that can be sharpened many times. The thicker blades spin truer and cuts straighter without being deflected by inconsistencies in the material. Diablos are very nice blades(especially for smaller diameter) and Freud Industrial blades even better than D.
Great video. If you ever want to give a try to another brand, I have had an amazing experience with amana tools saw blades. I use this model MS12100 my 12" chop saw and it cut beautiful
I've been using Bosch, Milwaukee and Diablo for years and decided to try the Spyder blade for my DeWalt 780. Cutting 45s in 1x12 pine the Spyder just bogged down and burned the wood and smoked. Never had that happen especially on a brand new 80 tooth blade. Well that POS is now cutting 2x4s. I'm going to try one of those Fstool blades
I spent more money than I care to admit on saw blades, trying to find one I like for each saw.
That being said, I ended up settling on the Diablo for the table saw for rip cuts, and I ended up going with the Bosch on my miter saw because it was locally available, made good cuts and the blades last a while for the work I do.
I’ve been using Diablo for a while now, maybe I’ll try out that FS Tool blade, good video
Try the Makita thin kerf 60 tooth 10 or 12" blades, they have laser cut expansion lines in the blade to dissipate heat , they don't flex, best blades on the market ( in my opinion), no splintering or fraying on the wood
Definitely find a good sharpener near you. Those blades are worth getting sharpened a few times.
I agree that deflection is a problem on miter saws that doesn't get much attention. If you ever have to do a bevel miter cut in large hardwood crown molding like on top of kitchen cabinets.......you will wish you had that premium blade. Sometimes you only get one shot to make that cut.....especially in hardwood which is usually stain grade. With paint grade you can fix it with a scarf joint, filler, and a little paint.
Love your videos! Can you provide a link for the miter station in this video? I don't see it in your "every tool I use" link.
The best tool i saw in this video was the Milwaukee Fastback utility knife. Cant go anywhere without it.
Question on the Windsor 1. Exterior install 1/4" gap above flashing. Question: 1/4: air gap is left open no caulk. Correct?
Thanks
hp
Ridge Carbide and forest both have a good reputation for truing and sharpened grass carbide blades. both have been around for decades, and are know to be reasonably priced.
All great points, but thin kerf blades have their place - weaker saws and harder woods. That dewalt will probably spin anything just fine and you said lots of soft woods so I can see why FS blade is best for you. Thanks for the video
You had me at admitting your tool addiction! New sub..
I have a Forrest 60 tooth 10 in. blade it had great reviews and is a thick blade. The thicker blade takes a little longer to reach speed and it takes a little longer to stop, it cuts real clean but I use the Diablo's the most.
@channel. You weren’t kidding on price I have a FS Tool manufacturer here in Toronto Canada and the price is $221 +tax CAD. Cheers!
Take a gander at tenryu. They are my go to and they can be sharpened also
Lol I wanted to buy it seeing spencer was using the blade. When I saw the price, I almost died. I just installed a zero clearance fence and insert, I gotta figure out a way for wings now.
just bought a 12 inch Metabo miter saw and wanted a better blade which came with a 42 tooth and wanted to get a 80-100 tooth because i cut a lot of red oak trim and wanted the 45 to fit the best and get a smooth clean cut too.
I have the DeWalt Toughsystem and it’s great until you need something in the bottom crate
Freud (diablo) also make an industrial blade which last a lot longer and can be re-sharpened. I like your videos. Thanks.
In the end, quality costs money as it yields you a finer finished product, makes you more productive and many times keeps you safer.
Man I’ve got to upgrade my saw setup.
Your the man!
Thank you!
Frickin sweet is what I think the FS stands for.
I'm pretty sure it's Fucking Sharp :)
Good video as always. I agree that the higher end blades are significantly better than Diablo blades if you can afford them. You can get Diablo blades that are full kerf too, but will likely have to order them online. For 200 bucks I would feel a lot more comfortable sticking with Forrest or Ridge Carbide instead of trying a new brand. ***Also, Ridge Carbide will sharpen your blades no matter what brand they are.*** Other than them I use a local small business that is only about an hour away that I commute past regularly.
I just recently picked up a blade sharpener from HF. I don't buy power tools from there because anything they sell with an electric motor is typically junk but for $40 thought it would be worth a shot. On a side note what is good ( US General tool boxes and I got a pretty nice paint gun)
Amana Tool saw blades have been the best for me.
I can't wait to see the pocket hole cutter 😆😆
Been using a 72 tooth twin town for about 2 years now. Very reasonable price for the performance I've gotten from it.
Dude that’s life I guess any tool I purchase the wife gives me the death stare quality vids bro keep up the good work … peace ✌️
Hey Richard, can you make an updated video on your miter saw? I noticed you’re always corded now and was wondering why that is?
I have that same addiction, now i need to convince her how much I need the Cut Hub
That’s so funny we used those for table saws at my shop and they feel like a real piece of metal in your hand
Hi Richard how do we use the 1 inch arbor on a 5/8 inch arbor saw is there an adaptor? The larger FS Tool blades i see are 1 inch bore.
Check out the sm6300. It’s the cousin of the lm6300 but it uses better carbide and lasts a bit longer. They’re usually $220 but I found them on sale at AA Carbide for $185
I switched to CMT blades and they cut better than the Forest woodworker 2 that was given to me by a good friend..$36 compaired to $150. That pretty much sold me.
I love my Forrest miter saw blade tempted to buy a FS to test what is better around the same price
Forrest blades are excellent, especially for the table saw plus when they start to get dull they have a re-sharpening service. I recently sent one in and it came back like a brand new blade.
Oh yeah, I was going to mention this as well, never used one of their blades but just hear about them recently, hear good things, and if I'm not mistaken, the blades are around 165$ but they can be sharpened hundreds of times and they have a lifetime warranty. from my current understanding, however I could be wrong on some of this since I never actually owned one. so thanks for mentioning this.
Cabinet maker here. Forrest blades are amazing and their factory sharpening services are excellent. Cost for shipping and sharpening are 1/4 the cost of a new blade. I run a 12" chopmaster with a 5" dampener. Cuts perfectly
I use Forrest too. Can't beat 'em. Table saw and chop saw.
The only issue with Forrest blades is they grind their teeth at a sharper angle than the standard angle. That makes them cut cleaner right off the hop, but they dull faster than a FS Tool or Royce blade.
They used to be. then the old man passed and things took a turn.
Industrial or blades that can be sharpened that are good choices would be Forrest, Freud, Ridge Carbide, possibly CMT
Another great video!
i just got a 12 blade for my dewalt miter its called a.r.e i forget who makes it but i love it
How do you like the cordless dewalt chopsaw. Would you buy it again or go corded.
You mentioned earlier in the video about resharpening the FStool blade but you didn't touch on that during the video
We want to see a full on review on your packout system how to have all your tools set up thank u
I hate Milwaukee, but that packout system is the shit, I got hooked when I bought the tool tote on a Friday, by Sunday I had spent $1,100 to buy a whole setup.
Richard you just said the operative word, I wish I could sharpen it. I am a furniture maker in Alvarado, I use Ridge Carbide out of New Jersey, I have 2 100 tooth carbide blades, one is on the saw that’s sharp when I swap blades I send the dull one back to Ridge Carbide they sharpen it for $25. If you bust off a carbide tooth no problem they can replace it. James Hamilton from Stumpy Nubs Woodworking turned me on to them. I will never run a different brand again. They are top shelf.
Ridge carbide is the way to go! I have a few of them
try ridge carbide. cheapest in the premium blade sector. they will cut as well or better than the forest woodworker series.
i used the fstool blade for trimming my entire house. I loved it.
Are you still running these blades? Thanks for the info!
Where'd you get that table at? really diggin it.
Where’d you get those side tables to support your material? Do you have a link or make and model?
