  • In April, ABC News Chief Meteorologist and Chief Climate Correspondent Ginger Zee traveled to the Navajo Nation to showcase how one private developer was adding more solar power to homes there. That got ABC15 wondering - what are Navajo officials doing to add more green energy and power opportunities to families?

A better project would be to provide rural residents not near a power line a localized solar setup and battery system. Combined with Starlink, they'll have many of the modern conveniences we all enjoy while still being able to live where they please. Doubtless, there will be some who don't want even that and that's fine too. It also makes sense that the tribe would be interested in power generation, now that the federal government has shut down the coal mines that provided the tribe with so much income and destroyed the iconic smoke stacks from the Navajo Generating Station.
