  • Athletic Bilbao have the rule to promote local Basque talent and to promote the region. They can only sign players born in the Basque regions of France, Spain and Andorra, players with Basque heritage, or player raised in the Basque regions from under 12.There is also a ‘learned skills at a Basque club’ aspect to the policy that has been used recently to sign a Romanian player who has no heritage.
The club have been known to relax the conditions heavily if they is interest from big name players, trying to sign Forlan and Higuain in the past despite their Basque heritage being questionable
A list of basque players mentioned in this guide ( sofifa.com/shortlist/53430?hl... )
    Spanish Basque region includes
    Bilbao 351,629
    Vitoria-Gasteiz 238,247
    Pamplona 195,769
    French Basque region includes
    Bayonne 44,300
    Academy
Bilbao have one of the best academies in world football.
They need this to keep the supply of Basque talent coming through
    Azpilicueta
    Xabi Alonso
    Javi Martinez
    Arteta
    Ander Herrera
    Muniain
Scout only France and Spain (Andorra is fine too if you're on PC)
Only sign players with Basque sounding names (lists can be found here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basque_... )
Regens from Sociedad, Eibar and Alaves are allowed if player has Basque surname
Stadium is in game and teams + league is fully licensed
Spanish rules - Watch my video on the Spanish league which includes squad rules, one thing I forgot to mention is every single player must have a release fee
There is no Basque manager requirement, so you can be whoever you want for your FIFA 21 Career Mode! My suggestion would to be Aritz Aduriz who only retired last year.

Great info for a career mode. A shame that EA dont implement this. I did a Bilbao career mode in Fifa 21 and got a board objective to sign 3 players from Asia. 🤦‍♂️

Overall a much better video than I was expecting. There are a few more ways to sign players and keep it realistic:
Andorra has nothing to do with the Basque Country, so scouting there would be pointless. Bilbao has a decent amount immigrants from Africa, the northern part of South America and to a lesser extent Romania. I'd say it would be ok to scout from these countries, as long as you limit yourself to maybe 1 designated immigrant player every 2-3 years. At this point, local players with African (dual) nationality are way more common than French Basques. The French Basque country is sparsely populated, and Rugby and Jai Alai are relatively more popular there. The French talent pool for Athletic is almost negligible. Right now, Athletic has 3 players of African descent (the Williams bros and Berchiche), plus a Colombian keeper on their B team. Pretty much every youth team they have has at least one black player.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you could have a designated dual national. Idk about FIFA 22, but in FIFA 21, the YA name pools for Argentina and Uruguay had a bunch of Basque names that you typically don't find outside the Basque Country (Iker, Unai, etc). There is precedent for a Basque player born in Latin America to Basque parents who lived there for work and then moved back (Fernando Amorebieta). So signing an Argentinian or Uruguayan with the first name Unai or last name Elizalde would be realistic.
Finally, it might be okay to keep one foreign player from your original youth setup. In extremely rare cases, you have players like Kenan Kodro (Bosnian by nationality) who are eligible because their dad played football in the Basque Country and they were either born or raised there. It's not hard to imagine the son of some English or German conditioning coach for Alavés or something getting into Athletic's youth setup. It's a bit of a stretch, but it could plausibly happen once in the next 15 years.

Nice video mate. I am spanish and I like that many people get interested in Athletic Bilbao policy, relying so heavily on their youth academy. It is impossible to find something like this in the big leagues, keeping their heritage and history since the beginning. So much merit.
As a note on your video, Andorra has nothing to do with Basque heritage, and the french part of the basque country, although important for basque culture and history, does not supply many players in the past few years. One, recent and very noticeable is Aymeric Laporte.
As a final fact: Athletic Bilbao is one of 3 spanish teams that have never been relegated to the 2nd division, the other two being Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Don’t think you need to abide by the release clause policy. Athletic have several players without them, including Unai Simón and Iker Muniain.

You make people realise our wonderful philosophy and our estadium( El Nuevo San Mames) sadly we are travelling through harsh times ecconomically thanks to the fucking president who is trying to destroy our history( changing the name of the stadium or trying to change the vasc philosophy). I made a team in LaLiga called Nueva España, which basically was Mexico, some US, Canada states, and countries in Central America like Honduras El Salvador and Acosta Rica when they were conquered by Hernan Cortes back in 1521, so I only sign players from that countries to try to “give glory” and to “avenge” those countries from “La Conquista”.
It’s mostly a kind of “realistic” way to make some restrictions.

  • @jakeap4598
    @jakeap4598 Před 2 lety

I have a video suggestion based on a CM I just started:
    Global Super League
Replace every team from league 1 and 2, and most of the championship with the best teams from other countries. It's basically a super league with four divisions.
Then you choose a team from league 2 (I chose RB new york but my other options were Rangers, Bodo Glimt and AEK) and try to get to the prem.
My plan is to get the current team to the championship within 4 seasons and then switch to another from league 1 or the championship depending on what's offered.

The only basque is a bit crazy to be honest. I think the only spanish players is a bit easier and it keeps the realism.
