- Rahul Bose discusses his movies, what drives his activism and what worries him about India with Shoma Chaudhury at Algebra The Arts and Ideas Club on 24 April 2018
While talking about gender equality, Rahul Bose says that, "gender sensitivity in films should be as easy as breathing and if not then one shouldn't bother to make a film". He also says that he would never include an item number in any of his films. Apart from being an actor and a director, Bose is also a social activist and he says that one of the things that made him plunge into activism is the 1992 Mumbai riots.
Rahul Bose is an actor, director, social activist and a rugby player. Bose has acted in numerous films such as “Pyaar Ke Side Effects”, “Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam” and “Jhankaar Beats” to name a few. Popularly known as "the Sean Penn of Oriental cinema", Bose has also directed many films, the most recent one being “Poorna: Courage Has No Limit”, a film based on the story of the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest. Bose also runs an anti-discrimination NGO called The Foundation.

Algebra takes the idea of a club - a universe of the likeminded - and expands it to new paradigms. The key idea behind Algebra is to bring together a fellowship of people who believe great cities are built not just on infrastructure but a life of the mind; who understand robust and liberal societies need the oxygen of great conversation and nuanced thinking. At a time when we are increasingly surrounded by rage and noise, Algebra is that unique live and continuous space where people could go for a genuine exchange of ideas and exposure to issues; where new seeds could be sparked, fresh perspectives formed, and intelligent connections made.
Algebra - the Arts and Ideas Club is designed to host over 60 conversations over the year with topline thinkers and practitioners from almost every discipline that impacts human affairs: politics, economy, environment, spirituality, cinema, medicine, science, technology, music, media, literature, the arts, sports, people’s movements, et al. In a line, Algebra is a space where one can meet an exciting, cutting-edge spectrum of people shaping the world in different ways. Where one can test one’s ideas, challenge one’s perspectives, and build friendships. A sort of fellowship of the curious and engaged.

What has these khans and kumar done in life
Nothing shame on all these big guns
Yes I fully agree wth you please.
I always liked him!!! But after watching this video I have so much respect him
He is so articulate and precise. Doing so much for the society unlike his bollywood counterparts who mostly are frivolous and self obsessed.
his counter parts are generating crores for charities and upliftment of the poor and adopting villages.. dont type shit.
As a actor I worship Rahul. He is blessed with talent

How can someone this interesting be single? 😍 😍
Rubiks Cube Exactly!!
Because finding a partner is harder sometimes..because some looking for the absolute ... I guess that's where lies the truth
Rubiks Cube he is intelligent
Isn't this the same anchor who defended Tarun Tejpal? Like the saying goes badi badi baatein. Also, glad that Rahul talked about the Woody Allen bit in the context of detaching/attaching art to the artist. Not even Hollywood bigwigs talk about it.
Priya K Yeah she's Shoma Chowdhury the then Editor-in-Chief of Tehelka when the Tejpal controversy broke out.
What a great interview-----enjoyed it and learned so much

I like this guy. Maybe not as much as an actor but definitely as a person
Watch his Bengali films Antaheen and the Japanese wife ,you would love it.
25:30 Rahul Bose talking about Swapna Barman who won gold in Heptathlon at Asian Games 2018.
A-mazing work!! I like that he has humour and not shy to practise even it may turn faux pas!!
I'm sure both the guest and the anchor can hear the questions from the audience, but for us watching on CZcams, only the response can be heard, unless the question is from someone seated in the front rows. Can you please help us with this? Thank you.
few months after this interview this girl rahul is referring @ 25:25 actually won Gold at asian games.

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING BROTHELS????? WHERE IS RULE OF LAW?????? WHERE ARE MY PEOPLE?????
the guy is so polished that sometimes he forgets that he is not a royalty.. i was working with him on a project and there was a scene of him in a hotel lobby spotting another character. the guest of the hotel were moving around, so he calls me and tells me that i should control this. people are walking around. i was like, we are not shooting and they are the guest of the hotel, i cant tell them to not walk around. they are not junior artists. actors are so fucking vain.
