I’m with you. After 19 years she decided she’s done. It’s been the worst 3 months of my life. The emotional toll has been huge. A year ago we bought a nice house down here in the southwest. Next week I’m moving back to the midwest to small apartment to rebuild my life (whatever that means). But....I have a job. If I have a job I can live. If I can live, I can rebuild. If I can rebuild, I can find happiness again. Good luck and stay positive!

I did it twice in my twenties. Both were cheaters who could not keep their legs closed and I have azero cheating tolerance and policy. No kids came from either one. I am now on number three and this one is going the same way. Difference is that her affair is an online, emotional, one with an old lover of hers. She has threatened divorce once a week-minimum as a weapon since our second year of marriage. She tries to pit both of our religious faiths against me as a weapon. She is narcissistic, inconsistent with our kids, and abusive to me (verbally, mentally, emotionally). She wants a fourth kid. I don't. I was done after two and then we got a surprise. Once I said that I was done and didn't want anymore she said, "Maybe I should take (name withheld) up on his offer to get the fourth baby that I want!". I asked her if she was blatantly saying she was going to commit adultery in front of me (and our kids, which I LOATHE her doing all of the time). She replied with, "No. You don't get it. We will be divorced when this happens." Typical shit she always says. She threatens divorce when she is mad, doesn't get her way, doesn't get me to rise to her baiting me; you name it. She has threatened to send our special needs daughter to a home to "see if they can't work with her and 'fix' her; and if they can't, then she can just stay there (again said to and in front of our autistic daughter who can be a bit loud and destructive as well as hyperactive. Being autistic myself, that really pisses me off.). This guy she mentioned is the same guy she wants to have take our family portrait with the help of his wife whom he cheated on her with when they dated and lived together. She has also made it quite clear that she will do everything she can to obliterate me financially and has begun dragging me to a marriage counselor where I am talked over, down to, and at like a child by both the counselor (male) and her; while she gets to jabber away and play pity party. So...I have taken to keeping a written log of her bullshit and getting audio on my phone when I can. I have been accused of not being romantic and pushing her away (bullshit. It is just like the two country songs go, "She only bitches when she breathes" &, "It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chew your ass out all day long."). I am on a fixed income from VA Disability and unable to work. She uses my severe, to the point of crippling, some days PTSD and associated symptoms. Thankfully, I have found out that the state that I live in takes earning POTENTIAL and WHO HAS THE HIGHER DEGREE/EDUCATION LEVEL into account when deciding child support and things. I have also had her berate me in public, in stores and sidewalks full of people. Just this week she flat out said, "Why can't you just have 100% disability already so that I can divorce you to get the services I want and need (welfare perhaps?); and you can get your own place-meaning kicking me out and her staying in a rental home she could not afford but, I could if I had full disability. She makes shit up that I am abusive... here's a spoiler...I AM NOT! She uses what she "learns" online and from her friends, family, and the marriage counselor as a weapon and to try and build a case for divorce and maximum shared custody with me getting the kids every other weekend. She puts words in my mouth that I never said. Could I work harder with things? Yup. Am I and have I been? Yup. Does it matter? Not with her! Even with me trying to improve myself for the kids and for me. She has gone so far as to tell me that she is money hungry and regardless of amount that it will NEVER be enough (first year of marriage and we both grew up poor). She has said that I and what I do have never been, aren't, will NEVER bee good enough. She told me a few months back that she has never, doesn't, and will NEVER respect me regardless of what I do. Said the women in her family "train" their men and break them like an animal but that she would "never do that (I call bullshit. She has been trying to since we married without her realizing it.). Her dad even warned me of all of this and what her mother's family would do when I met him. Including what they did to him and what he did to them. He warned me and explained that it was part of the reason that they had split. He even asked me if I was sure that this was what I wanted and if I could handle it if she pulled it. I said yes. He told me I was stupid to do so but, if it made us happy, to go right ahead. She has her friends and family convinced that I am a narcissistic abuser. I mean...yeah...after just shy of 8 years of my writing this...I am just waiting on the claims appeal process and how long it will take to get 100% to see if she is actually going to pull her B's and try what she said. So...yeah...I can feel the pain on that one (Especially with a young son, young daughter, and infant daughter.). I wish anyone in this situation the best of luck and to know that you will learn your lesson and make it through. Just focus on being the best you that can be.
      P.S.
Sorry for any mistakes and blabbering on. Speech-to-Text makes it easy for both to happen.

Regardless, I've crawled/struggled and finally got new home, which I just got last month. It's hard and every day is a fight, but I move on and keep swinging. My mission in life is to focus on rebuilding my life and my finances to put me in a place that is secure and safe. I have also learned to accept that my life with my child will never be the same or how I want it. It's just the way society views us men, we'll never be treated as equals, and always seen as a resource to be utilized. Letting go and accepting this reality is something I work on everyday, but it's something that I'm getting use to, and letting go and accepting the realities of this new life has help me cope. What keeps me going now is my mission to succeed and become secure and a better man... for me. I spend my time working on side online business. It's not easy, and it takes time, but I refuse to go down without a fight. I will say this, in the past year I've seen family members go from being broke to having $200,000 in a few months through the stock market. What this has taught me is that there are options out there to succeed, you just have to work and keep trying. Eventually, something will connect. Use your free time to work on finding these possibilities, it beats sitting around feeling depressed. Good luck and keep fighting brother.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death.
Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance.
I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse.
People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

      You missed my point:
      To women: "get" equals given.
To everyone else: "get" means they get to live in the house, but they are not given the husband's equity.
Her sister divorced her own husband and once quipped "at least I got the house". That's because her stupid husband signed over the title to her without taking any money. Most likely, because he's an idiot, but also because he wanted to be rid of the bitch once and for all.
In my case, I will NEVER "give" my soon to be ex wife the house.
The only ways she can live in the house is:
      1. She buys me out (she cannot afford to)
      2. I give it to her (not happening)
      3. We live in the house together (most likely, in my case)

I also didn’t find out my value to her until after the marriage started. She constantly dips into 401k that we just recently started finding. As a test we put petty cash in the house for emergency.. less than 6 months the money had been spent. My first marriage her second. No kids. Only two years married total 4 together. Control issues a major role in our current situation. Planning on uncontested with one lawyer. I did the move so we could be together. So the worst part is starting over with nothing.

She disassociates herself with anyone who doesn’t buy into her view including some of her own family. My kids now come around for money more than to maintain a proper relationship. My son may be the most sensible of my children and goes to therapy. My daughter refuses to as her mother did when she was a child. Child support and all the other extra you have to dish out has a very big negative impact on regular life unless you make a ton of money to the point where you wouldn't even miss it. And you're absolutely right about the dating market being skewed towards divorced men with kids. Our resources are depleted and no woman is patient enough to deal with that. As a man and doting father of three young children my ex, after having gone on a fishing expedition on the Internet for a man with more money and hooked one, made me out to be a sick sexual pervert and hideous monster to our friends and her family. Over a few short years she and her family, with the help of the police and the social services/welfare system, systematically dismantled my rights as a father and her stories literally had me hounded out of town. In the end I chose to start a new life in a new country because my children were beginning to believe the stories she was telling.

I have a huge question and one which perhaps you could devote an entire video:
Don't divorce. Just get separated and delay every court session. Don't hire a lawyer. Just object to her divorce settlement demands, and again, delay every court session.
This way, you can date, keep your home, keep seeing your kids, and lose the nag.
Just ignore her when you're in the house. Maybe even redline the house, ie. turn it into a two flat. Move into a mancave in the basement. Go out on weekends.
Maybe even get a separate apartment where you can entertain women, build businesses, read, and chill. No more nag.
So my question is, do you see that sometimes it's better to just get separated? Stay friends with her, but lose the nag that's in all of them.

I just went through a divorce, there are a couple of myths here I want to address:
    1) "Marital property & assets will be split 50/50" - not true, or at least not completely true. Case in point with my divorce the home was considered "sole and separate property" my ex-wife had acquired before the marriage, Therefore I was only entitled to community lien on the property, meaning I was only eligible for a certain equity of the home that had accrued during our marriage because I had helped pay mortgage and finance home renovations, etc. I got nowhere near half, in fact I did not even get a third. I could have pushed for it to go to court, but I decided to settle because a) the judge may have sided with my ex wife and I would have not gotten anything and b) I was in a tremendous amount of debt already and my legal bills were climbing rapidly, I had no way of paying my lawyers any more money and they were not going to wait for me to get my settlement to pay them. I had to take a raw deal just to get it over with and walk away with something.
    2) "Men will almost always pay alimony/child support" - regarding alimony, not always true. In my case there was no major income disparity and/or validating reason why my ex wife would be needing spousal support. typically they only award spousal maintenance(alimony) in situations where the ex wife is deemed unable to work and support herself to a certain degree to maintain a reasonable standard of living they were accustomed to during the marriage. and generally, the marriage also has to last a certain amount of time as well for the wife to be eligible and the alimony payments will typically only last for a certain duration of time. the belief that a woman can just marry some rich schmuck and divorce him a year later and make off with alimony is just not true. so while some women do make off with alimony, its generally only because they meet very specific criteria within state laws.
regarding child support, If there is 50/50 split custody, then there usually is no need to claim child support by either party, unless of course there is a drastic disparity of income between the two parties. In my case, my ex wife could have taken me for some child support but she decided the amount was inconsequential and that it was not worth squabbling over. she mainly just wanted to keep her home, her car and her retirement. in the grand scheme of things, what little amount of child support she would have gotten out of me would have not been worth the legal fees incurred to fight for it in the first place.
so in the end, I took a shit settlement on the division of assets, only getting a 3rd of the home's equity but at the same time I made off with some money to start a new life with and pay off my debts. I let my ex keep her home, her retirement and her car - only thing i asked for in return was a settlement large enough to pay off my debts and move on with my life. I don't recommend everyone get divorced though, I do recommend at least going to counseling first and If you absolutely must get divorced, do yourself a favor and go through mediation, just trust me on this, lawyers will only make things worse, medication will help speed things up and save lots of money in legal fees.

      @elainenilsson5472 Před 2 lety +2

You are spot on. I wish my husband had read this before pushing me into divorce. I am dead set against divorce. Too many people gave my husband a rosy picture of what divorce would look like. In the end, I got the entire paid off house, half the retirement pension and half his social security, but I also got $240k to be paid in 7 years which basically would have been our retirement savings. All this for a piece of arse? Are you kidding me? There was no way he could survive this. He was unable to make or keep a budget. $100k of unknown debt is what lead me to a lawyer in the first place. Then he pushed for divorce. Was he crazy? He ended up having to take $50k loan against his saved retirement just to pay rent and try to pay down some of the debt as he was made to take his debt with him. Exact same thing happened to him. He ran out of money to pay his lawyers. I had taken out a loan for $25k, paid up front and saved the heck out of money in case it went to court I was ready with $40 set aside no one knew about and that's the card I played in the judicial settlement because NO ONE wanted to go to court....except me. Equitable distribution is rarely 50/50. Oh they call it 50/50 but all that means is that it will we will be equal in the fact that he has had 30 years to build a career and I didn't so he has to compensate me for that. In the end he had a heart attack. No doubt this divorce killed him. We were not divorced yet because he would have had to pay for health insurance if he had which would have been another $1500/month, so he just remained married for 2 years and I had the entire retirement savings, life insurance, total social security, survivor benefits, etc. He had his girlfriend over which was a neighbor 2 doors down, so he had a great time for that period, except for the 30 day outs he had with her...soo that wasn't the love he thought it was going to be, lol.....and all for a piece of arse....what an idiot.

The divorce and remarriage for adultery doctrine is based solely on the supposed guilt of the wife in Matthew 5:32 and 19:9. However, the wife, in the above scriptures, is clearly not guilty of fornication because the Jews (that Jesus was speaking to) were still living under the law, and if fornication was discovered, there was a moral obligation to report the offender according to Deuteronomy 22:13-24. The wife, who would have been found guilty of fornication, was subsequently stoned to death, according to the law, which had still governed the Jews up until Christ's death on the cross. The same for a woman caught in adultery, according to Leviticus 20:10. How could a wife, guilty of fornication, or adultery, under the law of Moses, be given a writing of divorcement and be caused to commit adultery with whosoever marries her, that is divorced? Jesus is clear, in these examples, that the wife is not guilty of fornication, but is still caused to commit adultery if she marries another man now that she is divorced. This is the only way that Matthew 5:31-32, and Matthew 19:9 keep harmony with Romans 7:2-3, and 1 Corinthians 7:39.
Unlike the synoptic gospels of Mark and Luke, which were written to evangelize the Gentiles, Matthew was written to the Jews, and has of 24 characteristics that identify it as intended for the house of Israel.
The ancient Jews called the betrothed (engaged) "husband" and "wife" according to Deuteronomy 22:23-24, Matthew 1:18-25, and Luke 2:5-7.
Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Moses's precept of divorce and remarriage) was never for fornication or adultery. Allowing those guilty of fornication and adultery to remain living and become a prospect for remarriage was against the law of Moses in Deuteronomy 22:13-24 and Leviticus 20:10, which commanded that those who were found guilty of fornication and adultery be put away from Israel, and stoned to death.
The law of Moses was not given to the world, only to the Jews. From the exodus, to Christ's death on the cross, the law of Moses governed the Jewish people. Christ's death on the cross caused the Jews to become dead to the law of Moses, so they could be joined to Christ under a New Covenant. This is what Jesus's fulfillment of the law of Moses, including Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Moses's precept of divorce and remarriage), means. Paul gave several warnings to Christian believers against keeping the ordinances of law of Moses as justification, over following Christ and his commands under the New Covenant with Christ. Keeping the ordinances of the law is no longer possible, for Israel, and that is why Christ prophesied that the temple would be destroyed. These scriptures make it clear that if you choose the law over Christ, that you must keep the whole law: Romans 7:4, Galatians 3:1-9, Galatians 3:10-29, Galatians 4:1-7, Galatians 4:21-31, and Galatians 5:1-15.
Being unequally yoked to unbelievers is not a cause for divorce, once two become one-flesh in a covenant of marriage, according to 1 Corinthians 7:12-14. Many one-flesh covenant marriages between unbelievers are recognized by God in the scriptures, most notably the marriage covenants between Herodias and King Herod's brother Philip, Potiphar and his wife, Ahab and Jezebel, and Ruth to her deceased husband Mahlon by Boaz when he took her to be his wife.
Some are teaching that 1 Corinthians 7:15 implies that those who are abandoned, by an unbelieving spouse, are "no longer bound" in a one-flesh covenant of marriage. The reason this is in conflict is due to the way some translations word it, which gives it an entirely different meaning, and context. 1 Corinthians 7:15, says, "But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace." As you can see, the actual scripture says "not enslaved" which means that the husband or wife is not enslaved to sin with the unbelieving spouse, and is free to worship Christ in peace. Subsequent translations have changed the words to imply that they nullify the marriage covenant, which is not at all the case. The issue that this creates is with 1 Corinthians 7:10-11, which says, "10To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife." As you can see, those who claim 1 Corinthians 7:15 shows the Apostle Paul giving those who are abandoned permission to remarry, do not understand the command that Christ gives is to an abandoned husband, in 1 Corinthians 7:11, and that he "must not divorce" his wife, and his wife is commanded to "remain unmarried or else be reconciled" to her husband. The theory that 1 Corinthians 7:15 nullifies two as being one-flesh, due to one's unbelief, puts the Apostle Paul directly at odds with Christ, and himself, by implying that Paul has issued an opposing command to verses 10-14 in verse 15.
Some also teach that 1 Corinthians 7:27-28 is referring to both divorced men and virgin women, and not exclusively to men and women (virgins) who have never been married. This has been falsely taught for some time in churches as referring to anyone who is not currently in a marriage, which, for them, also includes those who are divorced. This is a very false assumption, and puts these verses in a different context, that is at odds with both the teachings of Christ and the apostle Paul. We see Paul refer to virgins, which signifies the unmarried who have never before been wed, which is the proper context here. We see Paul saying clearly that it is good for virgins, which is also speaking to never before wed men here, "that it is good for a man so to be." He goes on to say, "Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife." Who is he referring to here? Men who, like himself, have never married. The word "bound", in these verses, is a clear reference to betrothal (engagement) and not to a one-flesh covenant of marriage. The ancient Jews were considered bound as husband and wife during the betrothal (espousal/engagement) before becoming one-flesh in a covenant of marriage, through consummation. This is affirmed by the context of the term "bound" seen in Numbers 30:14-16.
The Jewish couples in ancient Israel, who were betrothed (engaged) were also bound together until death, either by execution for fornication, or by other causes. Then Paul says, "But and if thou marry, thou has not sinned", which is who? The men who had never married in the congregation at Corinth. So he begins with verses 25-26 speaking exclusively to men that have never married. Paul then says, "and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned", which is speaking directly in regard to virgin women who have never been married, within the congregation, not divorced women. Notice that verse 34 says, "There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband." Paul speaks plainly when he says "there is a difference between a wife and a virgin." Paul goes on to say, "But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry." This is speaking of a virgin who has become of age to bear children when it says, "let them marry." This is a clear command, to a single man, who has taken a virgin to be his wife. Paul then says, "Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well." This is referring again to the single man who decides it is better not to marry, but to stay betrothed (engaged), under the present distress, by saying that he "hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin." Paul then says, "So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better", which again means single men, in the congregation, who have betrothed a wife, do well if they marry, and those who choose not to marry their virgin brides do better, under the current climate. For more proper context of the word "bound", let's look further down in this chapter to verse 39, which says, "39The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7:39). For so long, these scriptures, between verses 25-38, have been twisted and used to enable divorce and remarriage, by wayward churches and teachers, and have caused many to stumble and to be trapped in unscriptural unions.
The use of the woman at the well, in regard to marriage, falsely implies that Christ was endorsing remarriage after a divorce. This teaching is in defiance of Matthew 22:23-28, which shows a woman who had been widowed seven times, and entered into each subsequent marriage without any scriptural conflicts with God's law of marriage (one-flesh covenant) seen in Genesis 2:23-24.
Mark 10:1-12 and Matthew 19:1-12 both record Christ's teaching that day beyond the Jordan. There is no mention of the words "fornication", "writing of divorcement", or "divorced" in Mark's Gospel because Mark was not written to the Jews (as Matthew's Gospel was), but to evangelize the Romans, and likewise Luke to evangelize the Greeks, who had no knowledge of the law of Moses in Deuteronomy 22 or Deuteronomy 24. All of these facts draw a clear understanding that remarriage after a divorce, under the New Covenant with Christ, is a scripturally false and baseless teaching. Please use wisdom when living in any situation against what the scriptures command.
